Eligibility:
Applicants should have at least a three-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline from any college recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) / Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with minimum 50% aggregate marks in degree examination.

Those appearing for their final year Bachelor's degree examination in April / May 2009 may also apply, provided they complete their final degree examination and meet other requirements before the commencement of the course in the first week of June 2009. (They should submit degree certificate / provisional pass certificate and marks sheets latest by 31st August 2009).

Selection Process:
1. Appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) to be conducted by Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) on 16th November 2008 all over India. (Refer CAT Notification released by IIMs on 13th July 2008 in leading national newspapers for the application details).
2. Simultaneously apply to SDM Institute for Management Development, Mysore (SDM-IMD, Mysore).
3. Based on performance in CAT, previous academic records, applicants will be called for Interview in January - March 2009.
4. Final selection will be made based on the composite scores of performance in CAT, previous academic records, relevant work experience (if any) and performance in Interview.

NRI and foreigners with a minimum valid GMAT score of 550 out of 800 may directly apply to SDM-IMD.

ADMISSION TO MBBS COURSE – 2009

1. Application are invited for admission to the MBBS course at Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, Commencing from 01 Aug 2009. Total 130 candidates (including a maximum of 25 girls) will be selected. All the 105 boys and 25 girls admitted to Armed Forces Medical College, Pune have Compulsory liability to serve as commissioned officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services on graduation. The type of commission will depend upon the vacancies available and merit-cum-option at the final MBBS examination. The liability of the SSC officers passing out of AFMC to serve the Armed Forces Medical Services would be seven (7) years. All candidates admitted to the college are required to execute a bond to this effect for an amount of Rs. 15 lacs (Rupees Fifteen lacs) at the time of joining the college, students removed from service liability due to any reason will have to pay the bond money as per conditions laid down by Govt of the India.

2. Ten seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe candidates who also have similar service liability and have to fulfill the requirements if medical fitness, age. Education qualification and qualifying the entrance examination as per details given in the prospectus

3. SPECIAL CONCESSIONS: the Govt will provide free accommodation and entitled rations, subsidized messing, AC 3 Tier free railway warrant from college to home and back during vacation, a book subsidy of Rs 12000/- during entire training period, uniform allowance of Rs.6000/- per student during first year and Rs.1250/- per year as maintenance allowance in subsequent years and any other misc allowances as applicable.

4. All candidates should be medically fit as per laid down standards for the Armed Forces.

5. Only unmarried candidates are eligible. Marriage during the course is not permitted. The College is fully residential both for boys and girls.

6. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION : Application must have passed the XII standard/pre-professional/premedical examination or equivalent examination of statutory Indian University/Board or any other recognized Board University as a regular student in all the subject of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology securing not less than 60% of aggregate marks in three science subjects taken together not less than 50% marks in each of the Science subjects and not less than 50% marks in English. They must have also passed an examination in Mathematics at Least of the Matriculation standard. A graduates of B.Sc examination with not less then two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany or Zoology) and also must have passed the earlier qualifying examination i.e. XII standard/Pre professional (Med) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and obtained marks as stated above NOTE

(a) Candidates who are to appear in the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent ) upto 05 May 2007 also appear for the test provisionally.

(b) The Following Categories of students are Not ELIGIBLE to apply:- (i) Candidates who have passed in Domestic Science, Domestic Arithmetic, Lower Maths Separately or in combination with other subjects like General Science, Social Studies in High School/Higher Secondary (Multi Purpose) or equivalent (ii) Candidates who have passed only Pre-University/Pre-degree (one years course) or Pre-professional in Agriculture/Veterinary/Dental Examination (iii) Candidates who have passed the Pre-professional or equivalent examination as private candidates.

7. AGE LIMIT: Must have attained the age of 17 years on 31 December 2009 but must NOT have attained the age of 22 on the date i.e. not born earlier than 01 January 1988 and not later than31 December 1992 if the academic qualification of the candidate is 10+2 or equivalent. A candidates who have passed B.Sc examination or will be appearing in final B.Sc examination and seek admission must not have attained the age of 24 years on 31 December 2009 i.e. must have been born not earlier than 01 January 1986.

8. METHOD OF SELECTION: Candidates will be required to appear in the competitive written test of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Intelligence, Reasoning and English Language comprehension on 03 May 2009. It will be held at the following centers in India. Eligibility:
(i) Candidates having M.Phil/Master's degree in Population Studies of a recognised university with atleast 55% of marks. For part-time Ph.D., two years’ experience after MPS or one year experience after M.Phil in Population Studies is essential.

Fellowship:
The selected Indian students will be awarded a Government of India fellowship initially for one year only and is extendable on yearly basis as per rules of the Institute. Each eligible candidate with NET qualification for lectureship only either in Population Studies or its interdisciplinary subjects will be awarded the Government of India fellowship @ Rs. 12,000/- per month for first and second years and Rs.14,000/- per month for third year respectively. Each fellowship carries a contingency grant of Rs.10,000/- for the first two years and Rs. 20,500/- for the third year. However, the candidates without NET qualification for lectureship shall be awarded the Government of India fellowship @ Rs. 6,250/- p.m. for first and second years and Rs. 7,000/- p.m. for third year respectively with an annual contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/-.

Selection Criteria:
Selection will be made on the basis of performance of the candidates in an individual research proposal presentation, personal interview and past academic records. The Institute gives preference to admit to its Ph.D. Programme, candidates who have M.Phil in Population Studies. Only short-listed candidates will be called for the presentation and interview. The Institute shall not bear any travel expense of the candidates called for the presentation and interview.

Reservation:
Reservation for SC/ST/OBC candidates will be considered as per the Government of India norms.

Some Officials can also be sponsored by Government departments, research institutions, universities, medical colleges and non-governmental organisations for being considered for admission.

The selection for admission to the 3 - year course leading to B.Sc. (Nautical Sciences) Degree at T.S.Chanakya, Navi Mumbai, 4-year Marine Engineering Degree at Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Kolkata and 3-year Polyvalent B.Sc. (Maritime Sciences) Degree at Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Mumbai, for the session commencing in August 2009 will be made through the Joint Entrance Examination, 2009 to be conducted by IITs on 12.04.2009. There will be no separate Entrance Examination for admission to the above training institutes and only those candidates who have qualified in IIT-JEE 2009 Examination will be called for counselling in the month of July/August 2009. All Indian Nationals seeking admission to the above mentioned institutes must fill up the application form for IIT-JEE and a separate application form issued by Indian Institute of Maritime Studies.


Seats:
There are 156 seats available in T.S.Chanakya, Navi Mumbai, 208 in MERI, Kolkata and 39 in MERI, Mumbai. Out of these 10 seats are reserved for foreign nationals in T.S. Chanakya, MERI, Kolkata and MERI, Mumbai for which the details can be directly obtained from Indian Institute of Maritime Studies.

Reservation of Seats:
1. 15% are reserved for SC candidates and 7-1/2% for ST candidates and 18% are reserved for OBC candidates belonging to non-cremy layer.

Academic Qualification & AGE Limits:
Candidates must have passed 10 + 2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English. The candidates must have been born on or after 1.10.1988. For SC/ST, candidates must have been born on or after 01.10.1984. For SC/ST, candidates must have been born on or after 01-10-1979.

Special Information:
The sale of application form commences at the above centres only from 21.01.2009 and the application form duly filled in should be submitted to the Indian Institute of Maritime Studies, C/o Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Advanced Maritime Studies & Research, Hay Bunder Road, Mumbai - 400033 by the due date i.e. 02.04.2009.

The counselling and eye test will be conducted in the month of July/August 2009 on the basis of the merit of the candidate in IIT-JEE 2009 Examination. The courses will commence in mid August, 2009. Candidates should be mentally & physically fit for sea life. Details of the medical standards specified are available in the information brochure. However, the candidates should note that, for joining T.S.Chanakya and Polyvalent B.Sc. (Maritime Sciences) normal vision of 6/6 is essential for each eye separately and those wearing glasses will not be eligible for admission. Whereas in the case of MERI Kolkata, glasses will be allowed up to plus or minus 2.5.Un-aided vision should be 6/12 in both eyes minimum or 6/9 in the good eye and 6/12 in the other eye at least. Defective colour vision is a disqualification for all the 3 courses.
There are total 10 seats available for direct admission of foreign nationals to these institutes. They need not appear for IIT-JEE 2008 Examination. The application form for direct admission of foreign nationals may be obtained from IIMS on payment of US$ 100 by bank draft drawn in favour of Indian Institute of Maritime Studies payable at Mumbai. On successful completion of the courses, the cadets will be eligible for entry to the Merchant Navy both in India and abroad, with attractive salaries and exciting career prospects.

General information:
T. S. Chanakya prepares cadets to become Navigating Officers, Marine Engineering & Research Institute for Marine Engineers and Polyvalent for Polyvalent Officers. The highest position that a navigating officer can expect to attain on board a merchant ship is that of the Master of the Ship (Captain). Marine Engineer to that of the Chief Engineer of the ship and in case of Polyvalent Officers to that of Master/Chief Engineers.

Objective:
University of Pune (UoP), on behalf of Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, will conduct the BioInformatics National Certification (BINC) examination. The objective of this examination is to certify bioinformatics professionals, trained formally as well as selftrained.

Eligibility:
Graduate in Science, Agriculture, Veterinary, Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering & Technology are eligible to appear in the examination. They need not have any formal training viz., certificate, diploma or degree in Bioinformatics. Students in final year of Bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply.


Application & Syllabus:
The online application begins on December 1, 2008 and will continue until January 16, 2009.
The examination fee is Rs. 600/- for general category, Rs. 450/- for reserved category and US $100 for foreign students. Please visit the website (http://bioinfo.ernet.in/binc/) for detail information. Syllabus consists of four sections: biology, physical and chemical sciences, IT, and bioinformatics.

Examination:
The examination is scheduled on February 21-22, 2009 and will be in three parts. The paper I will be objective type, only those who pass this paper with a minimum of 40% marks will be eligible to appear for the paper II and paper III. The paper II will be short answer type, while the paper III will be a computer-based practical. The certification will be awarded to those who secure a minimum of 40% in all the three papers.

Research fellowships will be awarded to 15 BINC qualified Indian nationals to pursue Ph.D. in Indian Institutes/Universities. Note that the candidate must possess a postgraduate degree & meet the criteria of the institutes/universities in order to avail research fellowship. In addition, a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- will be awarded to the top 10 BINC qualifiers.

BioInformatics National Certification (BINC) Examination will be conducted on 21-22 February 2009. The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India has instituted this examination with an objective to certify Bioinformatics professionals and to facilitate industries and potential employers for recruitment. University of Pune has been identified as a nodal agency by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India to coordinate this examination along with six centres namely, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi; Anna University, Chennai; West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata; Institute of Bioinformatics & Applied Biotechnology, Bangalore; North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong and University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad.


In the BINC 2008 examination 391 candidates appeared of which 12 candidates got certified and top 10 BINC qualifiers received cash award of Rs.10,000/-.


This year DBT has agreed to fund Research fellowships will be awarded to 15 BINC qualified Indian nationals to pursue Ph.D. in Indian Institutes/Universities. Note that the candidate must possess a postgraduate degree & meet the criteria of the institutes/universities in order to avail research fellowship. The National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA), a premier organization of its kind in South Asia, is engaged in capacity building and research in educational policy, planning and administration. NUEPA, which is fully maintained by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, offers Full-time Integrated M. Phil. - Ph. D., Full-time Direct Ph. D. and Part-time Ph. D. programmes in educational policy, planning and administration from a broader inter-disciplinary social science perspective. The research programmes of NUEPA cover all levels and types of education from both national and international development perspectives. NUEPA invites applications from eligible candidates for admission to its Full-time Integrated M. Phil. - Ph. D. and Full-time Direct Ph. D. (34 seats); and Part-time Ph. D. Programmes (5 seats) for the year 2009-10. These will also include those qualifying from the M. Phil. programme of NUEPA. While selecting the candidates for admission, NUEPA will follow all mandatory provisions in the reservation policy of the Government of India.

Admissions to Full-time Integrated M. Phil.- Ph. D., Full-time Direct Ph. D. and Part-time Ph. D. programmes will be made purely on the basis of merit following the prescribed criteria of the University.


Fellowships
Each selected candidate for the Full-time Integrated M. Phil. - Ph. D. and Full-time Direct Ph. D. shall be offered a fellowship of Rs. 13000/- p.m. + contingency as per rules. The NET qualified candidates, who have been awarded Junior Research Fellowships by the UGC and who fulfil the required qualifications, are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility Criteria

Full-time Programmes
(A) (i)
A candidate seeking admission to the Full-time Integrated M. Phil. - Ph. D. programme shall have a minimum of 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST candidates ) or its equivalent grade in Master's Degree in education, social sciences and allied disciplines from a recognized university.
(ii) Candidates who are yet to clear their final examination at the Master’s level are also eligible to apply provided they pass the examination as per eligibility conditions already laid down at (i) above and submit its proof at the time of interview.
(B) A candidate seeking admission to Full-time Direct Ph. D. Programme shall have an M. Phil. degree in an area closely related to educational and administration and/or exceptionally brilliant academic record coupled with publications of high quality.

Part-time Programme
A candidate seeking admission to Part-time Ph. D. programme is required to meet the following criteria:
(i) Should possess the educational qualifications as mentioned in Para (A) (i) above;
(ii) Currently, should be in full-time employment;
(iii) Should be a senior level educational functionary/administrator with a minimum of five years work experience in teaching, educational planning and administration.


Mode of Selection
The University reserves the right to decide the number of seats to be filled in the year 2009-10; the criteria for screening of applications; and the selection procedure of candidates for admission to its Full-time Integrated M. Phil. - Ph. D. and Ph. D. programmes. The mode of selection of candidates will be as under:
(i) Initial short-listing of applications will be carried out on the basis of relevance and quality of the brief write-up (in the prescribed format) in the proposed area of research to be submitted along with the application form;
(ii) Short-listed candidates will be invited for second level screening through which the University will assess the general awareness of the candidates about the educational issues and their motivation to pursue research.
(iii) Written test for the short-listed candidate will be scheduled on 30 May, 2009 at NUEPA at 9.00 a.m.
(iv) Face-to-face interview for the qualified candidates will be from June 1-3, 2009.

The Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) invites applications to its Ph.D. and Post-doc program. BIGSSS is an inter-university institute of the University of Bremen (UB) and Jacobs University. The program is funded by the German Excellence Initiative. The program provides close supervision of dissertation work within a demand-tailored education and research framework. BIGSSS is part of an international network of highly acknowledged graduate programs. It supports its Ph.D. and Post-doc Fellows in achieving early scientific independence, providing funds for conducting, presenting and publishing their research. The language of instruction is English.


Successful applicants for the Ph.D. and Post-doc Fellowships
will pursue a topic in one of BIGSSS’ five Thematic Fields:

- Integration and Diversity in the New Europe
- Social Integration and the Welfare State

20 Ph.D. Stipends/Fellowships
BIGSSS seeks candidates with strong academic abilities and a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in political science, sociology, psychology, law, economics or other social science disciplines. We offer Ph.D. stipends of $ 1250/month for 36 months, contingent on successful completion of each year.

6 - 8 Post-doc Stipends/Fellowships
They seek candidates pursuing English-language publication projects either from their dissertation (by making findings available to an international audience through a book or journal article) or from a new project. Post-doc stipends of $1750/month may run from 6 to 24 months. The competition is open to candidates who have received a doctorate in political science, sociology, psychology, law, economics or other social science disciplines within the last 3 years, or who can be expected to finish prior to commencing their post-doc stay.

IMTECH is a multidisciplinary institute with excellent research facilities, state of the art computer and library facilities, and faculty with interests in many different areas of modern biology and biotechnology. During this intake, openings may be available in the subjects illustratively mentioned below. Biosensors: Immunodiagnostics of pesticides and other environmental pollutants based on bioprobe-electronic interfacing.


Eligibility and Selection:
Candidates with Master's Degree or equivalent in any branch of science (Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Pharmacy) or in chemical/biochemical engineering who have qualified to be eligible to receive a doctoral junior research fellowship (JRF) after passing any of the following examinations are eligible to be interviewed: CSIR/UGC NET, DBT JRF examination (A Category), or ICMR JRF examination. Those who come for interview must be prepared to be present in Chandigarh for three days, which is the approximate time required to finalize the admission of successful candidates. No TA/DA or any other expenses will be paid for appearing in the interview. Only those candidates will be allowed to appear in the interview who produce a valid proof of having passed the qualifying masters’ level examination (e.g., may be a letter from the relevant Head of Department). Candidates must also state their present occupation, if any, before the interview; any concealment may result in cancellation of admission at any stage. Age limit: 28 years (age relaxation is applicable to SC/ST and OBC candidates as per Govt. of India rules). The decision of the Director, IMTECH, regarding selection/admission of the candidates shall be final.

Residential Accommodation:
Separate hostel accommodation for boys and girls in the campus may be provided to admitted candidates, when available. Please note that this year we won’t be able to provide any hostel accommodation immediately after admission.

ANAESTHESIOLOGY (DA), DERMATOLOGY; VENEREOLOGY & LEPROSY (DDVL), OBSTETRICS & GYNAECOLOGY (DGO), OPHTHALMOLOGY (DO), OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGY (DLO), PAEDIATRICS (DCH), RADIODIAGNOSIS (DMRD), RADIATION MEDICINE (DRM), TUBERCULOSIS & CHEST DISEASES (DTCD), HEALTH ADMINISTRATION (DHA) and HEALTH EDUCATION (DHE).

The selection of candidates for Delhi University Quota seats of the above courses will be made by the University from the Medical Graduates (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) of the University of Delhi only. Seats of All India Quota in MD (Community Health Administration) and Diploma in Health Education (DHE) will also be filled up by the University on All India basis.

Application Form along with Bulletin of Information may be obtained from the office of the Assistant Registrar, Faculty of Medical Sciences, 6th Floor, V.P. Chest Institute Building, University of Delhi, Delhi- 110007 against a crossed Bank Draft/ Banker’s Cheque drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favour of the Registrar, University of Delhi payable at Delhi in the following manner:
(i) Sale of Bulletin of Information w.e.f. Monday the 22nd December, 2008.
(ii) By hand for Rs. 1,000/- (Rs. One Thousand only) between 10:00 A.M. to 03:00 P.M.
on all working days upto 16.01.2009. No cash payment will be accepted.
(iii) By post for Rs. 1,050/- (Rs. One Thousand and Fifty only) along with a self addressed envelope of 10" X 8" upto 07.01.2009.

Note:
1. Candidates are required to apply separately for MD (Community Health Administration), Diploma in Health Education (D.H.E.) and other Post-Graduate (Degree/ Diploma) courses.
2. The candidate should mention his/ her name and address at the back of the Bank Draft/ Banker’s Cheque. The candidates are advised to retain a photocopy of the Bank Draft/ Banker’s Cheque.
3. The two (02) seats of DGO course in St. Stephen’s are not recognized by MCI.
