Candidates shall be eligible for registration in an ongoing programme of research in IBSD leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), if he / she has obtained 55% marks in aggregate (B or B+ only in the 10 point scale) in the Master Degree Examination.

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi, the essential qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a Teacher in Classes I to VIII, in any of the schools referred to in the RTE Act, will be held on 29.1.2012 (Sunday) at the Centres given in the list at http://ctet.nic.in/PDF/centres.pdf

Applicability: The CTET is applicable to schools of the Central Government (KVS, NVS, Tibetan Schools, etc) and schools under the administrative control of UT of Chandigarh and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. CTET also apply to the unaided private schools that exercise the option of considering the CTET. Schools owned and managed by the State government/local bodies and aided schools shall consider the TET conducted by the State Government. However, a State Government can also consider the CTET if it decides not to conduct the State TET.

Pattern of Examination: There will be 2 papers for CTET. Paper I will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V and Paper II will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII. A person who intents to be a teacher for both levels (Classes I to V and Classes VI to VIII) will have to appear in both the papers (Paper I and Paper II).

Each paper of CTET will have objective type, multiple choice questions (MCQ’s). Each Question will have four alternatives of which one would be correct. Each correct answer carries one mark. There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.

Paper I of CTET will be held from 10 am to 11.30 am on 29.01.2012. It will have five parts (i) Child Development and Pedagogy (ii) Language I (iii) Language II (iv) Mathematics and (v) Environment Studies. Each section will have 30 questions with maximum of 30 marks. All sections are compulsory.

Paper II of CTET is to be held from 1 pm to 2.30 pm on 29.01.2012. The first three sections, Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I and Language II are Compulsory for all candidates. Here, there will be 30 questions from each section, with maximum of 30 marks for each. Section IV will have 60 questions carrying a maximum of 60 marks. It will have two parts with Part (a) being questions from Mathematics and Science, which has to be answered by Mathematics and Science teachers and Part (b) being questions from Social Sciences, to be answered by Social Studies/Social Science teachers. All other teachers may answer either Part (a) or Part (b).

For the Language component, applicants can choose any two languages from the list of 20 languages offered and available at the link ‘Medium of Question Paper & Language Option for CTET’, at http://ctet.nic.in/welcome.html. Language I and Language II have to be different. Application of candidates choosing the same language for Language I and Language II components will be rejected.

Minimum qualification for Primary Stage (Classes I-V): Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002 OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)* OR Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

Minimum Qualification for Elementary Stage (Classes VI-VIII): Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) OR Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed OR Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. *Diploma/Degree Course in Teacher Education: For the purposes of this Notification, a Diploma/Degree course in teacher education recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) only shall be considered. However, in case of Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.Ed (Special Education), a course recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) only shall be considered.

Relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification for eligibility will be allowed to the candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled.

A person with D.Ed. (Special Education) or B.Ed. (Special Education) qualification shall undergo, after appointment an NCTE recognized 6-month Special Programme in Elementary Education.

The minimum qualifications referred above apply to teachers of Languages, Social Studies/Social Science, Mathematics, Science etc. In respect of teachers for Physical Education, the minimum qualification norms for Physical Education teachers referred to in NCTE Regulation, dated 3rd November, 2001 (as amended from time to time) shall be applicable. For teachers of Art Education, Craft Education, Home Science, Work Education, etc. the existing eligibility norms prescribed by the State Governments and other school managements shall be applicable till such time the NCTE lays down the minimum qualifications in respect of such teachers.

Applicant should supply all the required details while filling up the online form. On submission of details, a Confirmation page with Registration No. will be generated. Applicant should take a printout of Confirmation page and paste his/her photograph and sign in the space earmarked for the purpose.

The filled offline Application/Confirmation Page of the online application, should reach ‘The Assistant Secretary (CTET Unit), Central Board of Secondary Education, Shiksha Sadan, 17, Rouse Avenue, New Delhi-110002’, by Registered/Speed Post along with original Demand Draft (in case of online applicants who have remitted fee by way of DD) with Name, Address, Mobile No. and Registration No. written on the back of the Demand Draft, latest by 30.11.2011.

Applications sent by courier will not be accepted. The Application form in respect of candidates belonging to remote areas (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Lahaul and Spiti District and Pangi Subdivision of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Island and Lakshadweep) will be accepted up to 07.12.2011.

Receipt of Application and Admit card: Status of applications received will be made available at the websites in due course. Admit cards will be despatched to the candidates by Post by 12.1.2012. In case the particulars of the candidate is shown at the designated websites and the candidate does not receive the Admit card by 18.1.2012, the candidate may download the Admit card form the website and approach the Superintendent of the centre concerned, along with the documents specified in pre-para and an identity proof, a day before the actual examination.

Results: Results are expected by 6.3.2012. Candidates appearing in CTET will be issued mark statements. Those securing at least 60 % marks, will be issued CTET Certificate. CTET Certificates / Mark Sheet will be despatched by 31.03.2012. Qualifying the CTET would not confer a right on any person for Recruitment/Employment as it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment.

Validity: The CTET Qualifying Certificate for Appointment will be valid for seven years from the date of declaration of the result for all categories. There is no restriction on the number of chances that a candidate can appear for acquiring a CTET certificate. A person who has qualified in CTET may appear to improve score.

Selection Procedure(a) Candidates will be issued call up for Service Selection Board (SSB) interviews based on their PCM marks in 10+2/equivalent Examination. Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) reserves the right to short-list applications and to fix cut off percentage. No communication will be entertained on this account. SSB interviews for short-listed candidates will be scheduled at Bangalore/ Bhopal/ Coimbatore during Feb to May 2012.

(b) Stage I test, consisting of Intelligence Tests, Picture Perception and Discussion Tests will be conducted on the second day of arrival at SSB. Candidate who fail to qualify in Stage I will be routed back on the same day. Stage II Tests comprising of Psychological Testing, Group Testing and interview will last for 4 days. Successful candidates will thereafter undergo Medical examination (approx duration 3-5 days).

(c) Candidates recommended by the SSBs and declared medically fit, will be appointed for training in order of All India Merit depending on the number of vacancies.

(d) Change of SSB venue for interview is not permissible.

A Professional qualification like CA, ICWA, CS or other equivalent qualification from India or abroad (OR) First Class BE / BTech / BArch or a Master’s Degree in any discipline other than management with at least 21 months work experience as of June15,2012 (OR)MBBS Degree AND

2) Have a valid score of CAT 2011 or GATE or GMAT or GRE. Scores of GATE / GMAT / GRE should be from tests taken during 2011.

The Master's degree or equivalent qualification / Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification should be: (a) from any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956; or (b) recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.

Candidates who are in the final year of their MBA / PGDM Programmes that would make them eligible can also apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally only if they submit a certificate latest by June 30, 2012 from the Principal / Head of the Department / Registrar or Director of the university/institute (issued on or before June 30, 2012) stating that they have appeared for the examinations (including practical examinations) in all the subjects required for obtaining the Master's / Bachelor's degree / equivalent qualification. Their admission will be confirmed only when they submit the mark sheet and a certificate of having passed the Master's / Bachelor's degree / equivalent qualification referred to in the certificate issued by Principal / Registrar of their college / institute. Applications have been invited for 2-week training course in Book Publishing being organised by the Trust in colloboration with the Centre for Studies in Book Publishing, University of Calcutta and Publishers & Booksellers Guild, Kolkata

The course is open to young graduates who are directly or indirectly attached with the trade and are inclined to learn more about it and to new entrants in publishing who may wish to gain an overall view of the profession where a bright future awaits them.

Sessions

Sessions will be held at the Chandramukhi-Kadambini Sabhagriha, University Central Library, University of Calcutta, 87/1 College Street, Kolkata - 700073 from 10.00 am to 5.30 pm, Monday to Saturday for two weeks from 5 December 2011. Background materials for the lectures and further reading lists would be provided to the students.

Internship

The Trust has also made arrangements to send candidates for training to different publishing houses as intern. Internship would be offered to deserving candidates subject to selection of candidates by the publishers. The Internship would begin from 1 January 2012 for two months.

The prescribed minimum qualification for admission into PhD program is MTech / ME / MS /MPhil or equivalent degree, or BTech / BE / MSc / MSc (Tech) / MA or equivalent degree.
For PhD in Management, the minimum qualification is MTech in Management, or MBA with BTech, or MBA with Master’s degree either in Sciences or in Economics. CAT or GMAT qualification is desirable.
For PhD in Bio- technology the minimum qualification is BTech / MTech (Bio-Tech) or equivalent degree.
Admission to a PhD program shall be open to candidates who passed the prescribed qualifying examination in first class with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 in the 0 - 10 scale grading system (6.0 in the case of SC / ST candidates), or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate (55% marks in the case of SC / ST candidates).
For a PhD candidate under fulltime on institute fellowship, he / she must be sound academically, and must possess First Class both at BTech and MTech from recognized institutes or universities and the GATE or NET qualification.

The candidates selected for admission for PhD under Fulltime basis are eligible to receive institute fellowship as follows. The tenure of a research scholarship is three years only.

(a) Candidates joining with Master's degree in, Engineering / Technology or a degree recognized as equivalent thereto,

Rs.20, 000/- per month, in the third year.

A facility of Teaching Assistantship is also available to the suitable candidates.

CAT or GMAT qualification is desirable. For PhD in Bio- Technology the minimum qualification is BTech / MTech (Bio-Tech) or equivalent degree.
Admission to a PhD program shall be open to candidates who passed the prescribed qualifying examination in first class with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 in the 0 - 10 scale grading system (6.0 in the case of SC / ST candidates), or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate (55% marks in the case of SC / ST candidates).

The PhD Program on Part-time basis is open to,
(a) JRF’s / SRF’s in CSIR / DST / Defence laboratories / Govt. R&D organizations, who have put-in at least two years of experience.
(b) Scientists / Engineers working in Industries / R&D Organizations who have put-in at least two years of experience.
(c) Faculty members working in educational institutions that have put in at least two years experience.
