Siksha O Anusandhan University, Bhubaneswar will conduct the All India Entrance Test (SAAT-2012) at 60 centers across 42 cities of India, for admission into the various programmes of following constituent institutes for Academic Session 2012-13, on 12th May, 2012.

Courses and Eligibility:

Bachelor Degree Programs:
a) BTech
Pass or appearing at 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics OR Pass or appearing at the final year of three year Diploma programme in Engg. / Technology.

b) MBBS and BDS
Pass or appearing at 10+2 examination or any equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany and Zoology) and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination. In respect of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Schedules Tribes and Other Backward Classes the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination can be 40% instead of 50% for General Candidates. As per MCI & DCI guidelines candidates have to secure at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology) taken together in the entrance test. For SC / ST and OBC candidates the limit is minimum of 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology) taken together in the entrance test.


Age Limit: The lower age limit is 17 year and the upper age limit is 25 year as on 31.12.2011. Further provided that this upper age limit shall be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for the candidates of SC and ST.

c) BPharm
Pass or appearing at 10+2 examination with Physics and Chemistry along with one of the following subjects: Mathematics / Biotechnology / Computer Science / Biology. OR Pass or appearing at the final year of Diploma programme in Pharmacy.

d) BHMCT
Pass or appearing at 10+2 examination in any discipline.

e) BSc in Nursing (Basic)
Pass or appearing at 10+2 examination with at least 45% marks in aggregate (English, Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together) and 40% marks in aggregate for SC / ST and OBC candidates only.
Age Limit: The lower age limit is 17 year as on 31.12.2011.

f) BSc in Nursing (Post Basic)
Passed GNM examination, and registered with concerned State Nursing Council. Candidate must be a member of TNAI.

Master Degree Programmes:

a) MTech
Pass or appearing at BE / BTech / AMIE / MCA / MSc in the respective discipline or equivalent. For MTech in Biotechnology candidates having BTech / BE in Biotechnology or related fields / MSc in Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Science or equivalent / MBBS / BPharm / BVSc with Biology as a subject at +2 level are eligible. Candidates having MCA degree are eligible for MTech in Comp. Sc. & Engg., Comp. Sc. & Data Processing, and those with MSc (Maths) degree are eligible for MTech in Comp. Sc. & Data Processing. Candidates with MSc (Electronics) are eligible for MTech in Electronics & Communication Engineering and MTech in Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering. MSc in Computer Science and IT are eligible for MTech in Computer Science & Engineering and IT respectively. GATE qualified candidates are exempted from the entrance test, but they have to submit the filled up form. Admission into MTech programmes will be done on the basis of performance in SAAT-2012 or GATE and personal interview taken together. After the interview, a separate merit list will be prepared.

b) MCA
Pass or appearing at three year Bachelor Degree in any discipline from any recognised University having Mathematics at 10+2 level or at +3 level. Candidates having Business mathematics at +2 or +3 level are not eligible.

c) MBA / MHTM / MHA
Pass or appearing three year Bachelor Degree in Science, Commerce and Arts / BE / BTech / MBBS / BHMS / BAMS / BDS / BPT / BHMCT / BBA / BCA examination or equivalent in 2010 from any recognised University having at least 50% of marks. Candidate having a minimum composite score of 500 in MAT or any other equivalent test are exempted from appearing SAAT-2012. They are required only to submit the filled up application form. Admission will be done on the basis of performance in SAAT-2012 or MAT followed by group discussion and personal interview (GD / PI), all taken together.

d) MPharm
Pass or appearing at BPharm examination from any recognized University. The candidate having valid GATE score can apply.

e) MSc in Industrial Biotechnology
Pass or appearing at three year Bachelor degree in Science OR four year Bachelor course in Agriculture / Pharmacy / Veterinary / Engineering / Technology / Medicine (MBBS/BDS) from any recongnised University.

f) MSc in Nursing
Passed BSc Nursing (Basic / Post Basic) Degree with 55% aggregate from a Institution recognized by Indian Nursing Council with a minimum of one year experience either in teaching or clinical area but they should be registered in State Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife.

The National Entrance Screening Test-2012 (NEST-2012), for admission to the 5-year integrated MSc Programme in Basic Sciences ( Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics) at National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and for the Integrated MSc in Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences and Mathematics, at University of Mumbai - Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CBS) Mumbai for the Academic Session, 2012-13 will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm on May 27, 2012 (Sunday).

The examination will be held at Agartala (Code 01), Ahmedabad (02), Allahabad (03), Bangaluru (04), Berhampur (Odisha) (05), Bhopal (06), Bhubaneswar (07), Calicut (08), Chandigarh (09), Chennai (10), Dehradun (11), Delhi East (12), Delhi North (13), Delhi South (14), Guwahati (15), Hyderabad (16), Indore (17), Jaipur (18), Jammu (19), Kochi (20), Kolkata North (21), Kolkata South (22), Lucknow (23), Madurai (24), Mumbai (25), Nagpur (26), Patna (27), Pune (28), Raipur (29), Ranchi (30), Sambalpur (31), Simla (32), Silchar (33), Udaipur (34), Varanasi (35), Burdwan (W. Applicants of general category and those belonging to Other Backward Castes (OBC) must be born on or after 1st October 1987. There is a relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST/PD candidates.

Applicants should have secured at least 60% marks (or equivalent grade) in aggregate in Class XII (or equivalent) examination from any recognized Board in India. For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and for Persons with Disability (PD), the minimum requirement is 55%. Students who have passed Class XII qualifying examination in 2010 or 2011 or who are appearing for the qualifying examination in 2012 are eligible to apply.

Where only Letter grade is given by the Board, a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent percentage marks will be required to be produced by the applicant. In the absence of such a certificate the decision of the respective Admissions Committee will be final.

The details of number of seats and their break-up as per statutory government norms have been listed in respective websites of NISER, http://www.niser.ac.in and at that of UM-DAE CBS, http://www.cbs.ac.in . The total number of seats is 60 at NISER and 35 at UM-DAE CBS.

Application fee: Application fee for appearing in NEST is Rs. 600/- for general category and OBC Male candidates. For SC/ST/PD candidates and female candidates the amount is Rs. 300/-. The application fee may be paid by Demand Draft from any bank, drawn in the name of ‘NEST’ payable at Mumbai. It can also be paid by Electronic Mail Transfer to NEST account as per the following details: Bank and Branch name-Bank of Baroda, Kalina Branch, Account Name and Number- NEST, 06720100017374 IFSC code : BARB0KALINA.

Application can be submitted on-line, by filling up the application form at http://www.nestexam.in or by procuring a paper application form for NEST examination by writing to Chief Coordinator, NEST-2012.

On-line application: On-line applications are preferred. For this, candidates need to have a valid e-mail address. Applicant should first visit NEST-2012 website and register. Confirmation of registration will be sent to the applicant by email. On receiving the confirmation email, he/she can begin filling up of the form which can be done even in more than one sitting. They should carefully read the instructions for filling of the form given at the web-site. The applicant should save the filled form and keep a print-out for their reference. Applicants will have to upload their passport-size photograph and signature and fill in details of Draft or Electronic Mail Transfer, at appropriate places. Application without these details will be treated as incomplete and will not be considered.

If the candidate is paying the fees by Demand Draft, he/she should write his/her name and application number on the back side of the Draft and send it with a photocopy of printed application form to Chief Coordinator, NEST-2012, UM-DAE CBS, Health Center Building, University of Mumbai, Kalina Campus, Mumbai 400 098.

The Last date for completing on-line application, including payment of fees is March 13, 2012.

Off-line Applications: Offline Application can be obtained from ‘The Chief Coordinator, NEST-2012, UM-DAE CBS, Health Center Building, University of Mumbai, Kalina Campus, Mumbai 400 098’, till February 13, 2012 by sending a request for the same. Photocopied application forms will not be considered.
Applicants should carefully read the instructions accompanying the application form before filling the form. On filling up the form, he/she should paste passport size photograph at appropriate place and sign his/her name in the box provided and also fill in correct payment details.

The filled application along with the Draft must reach the Chief Coordinator latest by March 13, 2012. Applicant should write his/her name and application number on the reverse of the Draft.

Candidates should mark their first and second preferences for Examination Centres at appropriate place in the application form. Every effort will be made to allot a center of their choice. However, allotment of an examination center by the Chief Coordinator, NEST 2012 will be regarded as final and any request to change the center will not be entertained. The address of the center allotted to a candidate will be mentioned in NEST admit card.

Admit Cards: Admit cards will be mailed to candidate’s postal addresses from April 15, 2012. Candidates will have an option of downloading their admit cards from http://www.nestexam.in . This procedure is recommended for the candidates who have filled the application form on-line. In case Admit Card is not received by May 1, 2012, the applicant may write to Chief Coordinator, NEST-2012 by Speed post or by e-mail (email address: nest@niser.ac.in ). Admit card of such candidates may be mailed electronically if an email address of the candidate is provided.

Question paper pattern: Language of the question paper will be English only. The question paper will have five sections. The first section, which is compulsory for all candidates, will include general questions. The next four sections will have questions from (1) Biology (2) Chemistry (3) Mathematics and (4) Physics.
Candidates may opt to answer any three of these four sections. All sections carry equal marks. The questions will be aimed at testing the comprehension and analytical ability of the candidates. The questions will be of objective type with four answers given for each question. Some of the questions may have one or more correct answers. For these questions, candidates are expected to mark all the correct answers and none of the wrong answers. For such questions, marks will be awarded if all correct answers and no wrong answers are marked. There will be negative marking for wrong answers.

Syllabus: Syllabus for the entrance examination is given in Appendix II of the Information Brochure. The syllabus is basically same as CBSE syllabus of 12th standard. Detailed syllabi of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics are given here. There is no specific syllabus for the General section. This section is expected to test the candidate’s familiarity with (and not a detailed understanding of) major historical milestones in Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. The questions based on Mathematics up to 10th Standard will be included in this section. In addition, there will be questions on given passages to test candidate’s ability of comprehension and application.

NEST Result: Results of NEST examination will be announced on June 18, 2012 on NEST web site. Candidates can get their result at NEST website ( http://www.nestexam.in ) by entering their application number or admit card number.

Dates of counseling for NISER and CBS will be announced on their respective web pages and the candidates will also be informed by email and letter.

NISER: NISER established by the Department of Atomic Energy, offers 5 year Integrated M.Sc Programme in Biological, Chemical, Mathematical and Physical sciences. At present, NISER functions from the campus of Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar, which includes an excellent library. Degrees at NISER will be awarded by the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a deemed-to-be University within the Department of Atomic Energy. There are 60 seats, including reserved seats for SC/ST/OBC candidates and persons with disability (PD) as per Government norms.

CBS: The Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, has an autonomous Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences in Mumbai. The Centre is located in the Vidyanagari campus of the University of Mumbai. CBS offers 5 year Integrated MSc Programme in Biological, Chemical, Mathematical and Physical Sciences. The degrees at CBS are awarded by the 150-year old University of Mumbai. Tentatively, there are 35 seats this year with reservations as per government norms, including reservation for persons with disability (PD). A. PG Courses:
[Second class Honours in the relevant subject except for the followings:]

1) Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology:
Second class Honours in History or second class Honours in any other subject with 50% marks in 'Archaeology & Museology' as a Pass subject at the +3 Degree level.
2) Anthropology:
Candidate with second class Honours in Anthropology or second class Honours in any other subject, such as, Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Pol. Science, History, Geography, geology, Zoology, Botany, Biotechnology, Microbiology and Life-Sciences.
3) Geography:
Second class Honours in Geography or second class Honours in other subject and Geography as a Pass subject at +3 Degree (Arts / Science) level.
4) Law:
Second class in LLB or equivalent Law degree
5) MLib. & Inf.Sc.:
Second class Honours at +3 Degree or equivalent Course or 50% marks in aggregate for pass candidates of + 3 Degree or equivalent Course.
6) P.M.I.R.:
First qualifying Bachelor’s degree (except AMIE) 50% marks in aggregate.
7) Psychology:
Second class Honours at +3 degree (Science or Social Science) or 50% aggregate marks for Pass subjects at +3 Degree level.
8) Public Administration:
Second class Honours in any subject.
9) Sociology:
Second class Honours in Sociology or 50% of marks in aggregate for candidates having Honours in Anthropology, Political Science, Economics or Psychology.
10) Philosophy:
Second class Honours in Philosophy or at least Second class Honours in other subjects with 50% marks in Philosophy as a pass subject at +3 Degree level. Pass candidates with 50% marks in aggregate having Philosophy as a core subject shall also be eligible for the said course,
11) Statistics:
Second class Honours in Statistics/ Mathematics or Second class Honours in any other subject with Statistics / Mathematics as a core subject. Pass candidates with 50% of marks in aggregate having Statistics / Mathematics as a core subject shall also be eligible.

B. Sponsored Courses:
1) PG Diploma in Remote Sensing and GIS. (Department of Geography):
Graduate preferably from Geography, Engineering, Business Management, Agriculture, Forestry, Life Sciences and other science graduates with at least 45% marks at graduate level are eligible. Arts graduates with science background at intermediate (+2) level are also eligible with 45% marks at graduation level.
2) Master of Rural Development (Department of Sociology) :
+3 Degree in Arts / Science / Commerce.
3) 3 year MBA Executive Programme (Department of Business Administration):
2 years of working experience at Supervisory level after graduation in reputed organizations. (Experience and no objection certificate to continue the course from the Employer must be attached to the form).
4) Master Degree of Human Consciousness & Yogic Science (Department of Sanskrit):
Any graduate from a recognized University with PG Diploma in Yoga (minimum one year course).
5) MA in Women Studies:
Graduation in any discipline
6) MSc Environmental Science (Department of Botany):
Any Graduate from Science / Engineering streams.
7) MSc Applied Microbiology (Department of Botany):
Any Science Graduate having Botany / Zoology / Microbiology / Biotechnology / Life Science / Agriculture / Forestry / Fishery / Horticulture / Environmental Science. Pass and Honours students of the above subjects with 50% marks in aggregate are eligible.
8) Master of Fishery Science (Department of Zoology):
At least 2nd class Honours in Fishery Science / Zoology / Life Science or Chemistry with Zoology / Fishery Science as pass subject or Botany with Zoology / Fishery Science as pass subject or BFSc or a pass student with minimum 50% aggregate having Fishery Science / Zoology / Life Science as core subject.
9) Master in Engineering Course in Computer Science and Engineering with specialization with Knowledge Engineering (Department of Computer Science):
BE / BTech in Computer Science / IT / Electrical / Electronics / MSc Computer Science, MCA with Physics and Mathematics / Statistics at BSc level. At least 60% marks or equivalent in the qualifying degree examination.
10) MTech in Information Technology (Department of Statistics):
Master's Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology / Computer Application / Statistics / Mathematics / Physics / Electronics / OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Technology OR any other qualification considered equivalent (such as AMIE or DOEACC 'B' Level).
11) MSc Tech. in Material Science (CIPET, Bhubaneswar & Department of Chemistry):
+2 Science with minimum 60% marks.
12) Master of Law in Human Rights (Department of Law):
Law Graduate

C. Under UGC Innovative Programme:
1) Development Journalism and Electronic Communication, (Department of Public Administration):
Bachelor Degree in any discipline,
2) MA in Tourism and Heritage Management.

Candidates seeking admission into the above courses should apply in the prescribed form:
i. Forms can be downloaded from the Website: www.utkal-university.org . The application forms should accompany with an account payee Bank Draft for Rs.150/- (Rupees one hundred and fifty only) drawn in favour of the "Comptroller of Finance, Utkal University" payable at any Nationalized Bank located at Bhubaneswar and the entrance fee as noted below in favour of respective HOD/Course Coordinator in separate drafts.
ii. Forms can also be purchased at the counter of State Bank of India and Syndicate Bank, Utkal University Campus Branch, Vani Vihar on payment of Rs.150/- (Rupees one hundred and fifty) only in cash.
iii. Application forms duly filled in and complete in all respects should be deposited in concerned PG Department or office of the concerned Course Coordinator or sent by speed post/registered post to the Head of the Department/Course Coordinator concerned.

Entrance Test fees:
For PG Courses: Rs.200/- (Rupees two hundred) in favour of Head of the Department concerned. For Sponsored & Innovative Programmes: Rs.200/- (Rupees two hundred) in favour of the Course Coordinator concerned.

For M.E.CSE (KE): Rs.200/- (Rupees two hundred) in favour of the Chief Investigator SMDLT.

Applications are invited for admission to the following courses offered by the Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar for the session 2011-2012

1. Four Year Integrated B.Sc.B.Ed. (PCM & CBZ streams)
2. Four Year Integrated B.A.B.Ed.

Eligibility
For B.Sc. B.Ed.: Pass in +2 Science with minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate. The candidate should have either the subject combination of (a) Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or (b) Biology, Physics and Chemistry at +2 level. Candidates who have passed +2 Science Examination before 2010 will not be considered for admission. Separate application forms are required for each stream.

For B.A.B.Ed.: Pass in +2 Arts / Science / Commerce stream with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate. Candidates who have passed +2 Examination before 2010 will not be considered for admission.
For Two Year B.Ed.: Pass in +3 Degree Examination in Arts / Science with at least 50% marks in the aggregate. Candidates who have passed +3 Examination before 2007 will not be considered for admission.

For M.Ed.: Candidates applying for M.Ed. should have B.Ed. with 50% marks in the aggregate or B.Sc.B.Ed./B.A.B.Ed. with 50% marks in the aggregate and 50% marks in the Education component and also Post Graduate Degree in Science/Arts with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate.

For M.Sc. (Life Science) Ed.: Candidates should have passed 4 Year integrated B.Sc.B.Ed. with Chemistry, Botany, Zoology (CBZ) as in RIEs of NCERT with 55% marks in aggregate (Science and Education) or B.Sc. in (CBZ) with either Botany or Zoology must have been studied for three years with a 55% marks aggregate (CBZ) and B.Ed. with 55% marks from any recognized University.

For M.Phil in Education: Post Graduate Degree in Education with minimum of 55% marks in the aggregate.

Separate application form is required for each course and combination.
