The CDFD (Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics) Hyderabad, is a premier institute in the country, which provides services in DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics and conducts basic research in different areas of modern molecular and cellular biology. The main themes of research at CDFD are:

We invite applications from highly motivated candidates, willing to take up challenges in modern biology, for admissions to our Research Scholars program. Keeping in view the interdisciplinary nature of modern biology, we especially encourage persons from diverse backgrounds to apply. Those admitted as Research Scholars would be encouraged to apply for the Ph.D. program of Manipal University or University of Hyderabad.

Eligibility: M.B.B.S. or Masters degree in any branch of Science, Technology, or Agriculture from a recognized University / Institute. Candidates (other than MBBS graduates) must have cleared the CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/ICAR NET for JRF or GATE (All India Top 100 Ranks of all the streams) or JEST. MBBS candidates are exempted from any of the eligibility tests mentioned herein. Those who have appeared for their final semester examination, but are awaiting results, are also eligible to apply. However, only those candidates will be considered who produce proof of having cleared the CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/ICAR NET JRF or have qualified BINC examination conducted by the DBT with fellowship or GATE (All India Top 100 Ranks) or JEST. Admission to CDFD-Research Scholars program is based on a 2-tier system involving a written / LAN based examination followed by interview of candidates who have qualified the written / LAN based examination.

In the case of candidates whose JRF examination results are announced before the written / LAN based examination of CDFD takes place, and have qualified the NET with fellowship are also eligible to appear for the CDFD examination upon furnishing the relevant details of having cleared the JRF/NET with fellowship under SPOT REGISTRATION Category.

The Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) is an autonomous organization funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. CDFD receives funding also from other agencies on specific collaborative projects.

In addition, DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics services provided by the centre support some of the activities. The Centre is recognized by the University of Hyderabad for pursuing Ph.D. programme in Life Sciences. Vessel Navigator Course (VNC) and Marine Fitter Course (MFC)
The Vessel Navigator and Marine Fitter courses are two new trade courses started by NCVT under Craftsman Training Scheme by DGET, Ministry of Labour, New Delhi. These two courses are started with a view of producing practical tradesman in the Marine sector and manpower for the deck side and engine side of the fishingvessels. These courses are of two years duration.
CIFNET has been approved by DGET, Ministry of Labour for starting of the trades. These courses were started for the first time in India in CIFNET The courses are of residential nature. On successful completion of the above courses they will be gaining Academic and practical experience in the specialized subjects like Navigation, Marine Engineering so that they will be able to get wider opening at the shore establishments, fishing vessels, marinecrafts etc.


CIFNET


Central Institute of Fisheries, Nautical & Engineering Training (CIFNET), erstwhile Central Institute of Fisheries Operatives (CIFO), was established in 1963 at Kochi to meet the trained manpower needs of ocean going fishing vessels and that of fishing industry, by the Govt. of India. Subsequently two units of CIFNET were established, at Chennai, Visakhapatnam in 1968 and 1981 respectively, for meeting the additional requirement of manpower necessitated by the expansion of marine fishing industry with large number of fishing vessels in their fleet. The name was later upgraded consistent with its functions as ‘Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical & Engineering Training’ (CIFNET). CIFNET is the only national institute of its kind in the country to meet the training requirements of technical and certified personnel such as Skippers, Mates, Engineers, Engine Drivers of ocean-going fishing vessels as stipulated in the Merchant Shipping (Amendment) Act. 1987. CIFNET is also responsible for developing the requir d technical manpower for supporting shore establishments.

Mode of study
Theory:- The theory papers are handled by well experienced faculties of the Institute who have proven practical track records in their field of study. The classes are handled with modern teaching
aids like Multi-media, Internet, Overhead projectors, live models etc.
Practical:- The curriculum gives special emphasis on practical aspects in Nautical science, Fishery Biology, Fishing Craft Technology, Fishing Gear etc. Practical exposures are given to the students in the well established laboratories.
On-board training:- The onboard practical training is an opportunity to students to get acquainted with the operation and maintenance of the vessel which is the unique nature of this course.


Entrance Examination
The Entrance Examination will be conducted in Hindi/English at CIFNET office Kochi/Chennai/Visakhapatnam from 10.00 to 12.00hrs. on 19.06.2011 (tentative date). All eligible candidates who submit proper applications in time will be called for Entrance Examination. If eligible candidates do not get the Hall tickets by 13.06.2011 they may contact CIFNET office at Kochi/Chennai/Visakhapatnam and also refer institutes web site to get the latest information.
Entrance examination will be of Descriptive type, which coversthe topics of Maths, science subjects and English language

Bachelor of Fishery Science (Nautical Science) course [B.F.Sc.(N.S.)]
The B.F.Sc.(N.S.) course offered by CIFNET is a 4-year (8 Semester) programme mainly concerned with study of fish capturing techniques, nautical science and operation of fishing vessels. This programme has an exhaustive curriculum designed to provide profound practical knowledge on various aspects of the fishing and nautical sciences. This Degree course is affiliated
to Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi. This course will be converted into a Residential course in due course.

This 4-year programme will be producing a new generation of experts in the fishing field who will be able to take up any challenges in the operation of fishing vessels and related research & academic spheres with confidence.
The candidate who have successfully passed this degree and the basic modular courses with required sea experience are exempted from all written papers and directly (without Post-Sea courses) appear for the Mate Fishing Vessel oral examination leading to the issuance of Certificate of competency as Mate of a fishing vessel and also eligible for CDC as per MS notice 10 of2010 dated 07.07.2010 subject to obtain a sponsoring letter from DG Shipping approved sponsoring agency.


Mode of study

Method of Evaluation
Observation of progress record : Internal Assessment for 50% marks by Monthly Unit Test, Assignments, Attendance etc.
Semester Examinations (6 months) Examination : Semester Examination will be conducted by the Cochin University of Science & Technology for 50% marks as per university regulations for under gradate programme.
Award of degree : After the successful completion of all the semester examinations, degree certificate will be awarded by the Cochin university of Science & Technology, Kochi.
Minimum Attendance : 75%

Career profile
After the successful completion of the 4-year Degree programme the candidates will be able to choose their career opening in Central Fishery Institutions dealing with Research, Fishing Vessel operation, State Fishery Departments, Universities and other Private Establishments dealing with Vessel operation, Fish Processing etc.


Eligibility Criteria
Entry Qualification : 10 + 2 with 50% marks in Maths and 50% aggregate marks in other science
subjects and also minimum 50% marks in English either in 10th or +2 std.In the case of SC/ST students only a pass is required in the qualifying examination with the above subjects.
Age limit : Maximum: 20 years as on 1st October of respective year
Vision : In case the candidate wish to take up the career on sea/vessel he/she should pass the prescribed eye test conducted by Mercantile Marine Department before admission.

Fine Arts Avenue, Kochi -16. The Common Entrance Test will be of objective type, which covers the topics of Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English language. For each correct answer, 1 mark will be awarded and for every wrong answer, 0.25 mark willbe deducted.

We are introducing M Tech. and MBA programmes under DASA scheme admissions from this academic year 2011-12. The guide lines for the programme are as under.
1. Qualification required for each programme.
All candidates applying for M.Tech programme should have undergraduate degree in the required specialization or equivalent from recognized (approved by Association of IndianUniversities) institutes/universities from outside India.
2. Criteria for Merit List preparation.
Applicants to M.Tech programmes should have a valid GRE General Test scores with a minimum score of 1200 out of 1800, applicants to MBA programme should have a valid GMat score with a minimum score of 600 out of 800.
The merit list will be prepared based on GRE General Test score and on G-Mat score for M.Tech and MBA programmes respectively.
3. Fee Structure.
The proposed annual Tuition Fee will be 4000/- USD for both M.Tech and MBA programme with a processing fee of 250/- USD. Application from SAARC countries will be given 50% Tuition Fee waiver as per Government of India order. But the processing fee in case of Nepalese students paying in Indian Rupees would be 400/- USD.

Any student seekingadmission under this category shall be working on a regular post in any Govt./Semi Govt./Public Sector Units/AICTE approved Academic Institutes/Research Organizations/Public Limited Companyfor a minimum of 02 years, after graduation. A common Admission Written Test (UG–AWT–2011) will be held for the UG courses including MBBS by Christian Medical College, Ludhiana on 27th May 2011, from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm at Allahabad, Amritsar, Bathinda, Calcutta, Chandigarh, Chennai, Kochi, Ludhiana , Mumbai, Nagpur and New Delhi . Bible Test for Christian applicants will be held from 4:45 pm to 5:15 pm, on the same day. Therefore, all Christian applicants applying in the sponsored category need to remain seated after the UG–AWT– 2011 till 5:20 pm.

Admission to MBBS, BDS, B.Sc. Nursing and BPT (collectively called as UG courses) of this institution, are on the basis of merit obtained in the Admission Written Test (UG – AWT - 2011) conducted by Christian Medical College Ludhiana Society.

Open Category

Any candidate who is an Indian National, irrespective of caste, religion or domicile, can apply under this category. They will not have a service agreement but are encouraged to serve in the rural mission hospitals to understand the basic needs of the country.

Christian (Minority Category) Applicants & Service Agreement Candidates who desire to apply under the Christian sponsored category should indicate in the ICR form and will have to take a Bible Test. Such candidates are required to be sponsored by one of the sponsoring agencies of the Christian Medical College Ludhiana society for eligibility in the sponsored category. Candidates can apply to one of the sponsoring agencies of the Christian Medical College Ludhiana Society for sponsorship.

List of members is given. Toward this, all MBBS, BDS, and B.Sc. Nursing candidates selected through UG AWT 2011 in this category, are required to enter into a service agreement without which admission will not be granted. Service Agreement for

MBBS and B.Sc. Nursing candidates is for a minimum period of two years and for BDS candidates, 1 year, after completion of the course in a hospital or institution managed by Christian Medical College Ludhiana Society or its member Body/Church.

Admission will be entirely on merit, based on the Admission Written Test.

Candidates must provide the certificates mentioned below to be considered for admission in Sponsored Christian (Minority) category. The following original certificates must be available at the time of scrutiny of certificates otherwise the candidature will be cancelled.
1) Sponsorship Letter from sponsoring body/church signed by authorized signatory only
2) Baptism certificate
3) Letter from the Pastor regarding church membership with dates (made after 28.02.2011 in the prescribed format See Annexure -I Sample-12)
4) Domicile certificate issued and certified by the competent authority
1. Christian candidates desirous of sponsorship should only apply to one sponsoring
body/church. In the event that a candidate has obtained more than one sponsorship, the first one to reach the office of Registrar will be considered.
2. It is mandatory for all Christian applicants to pass the Bible Test for considering them
under the Christian Minority categories. Christian applicants who fail in the Bible Test will not be considered under the Christian Minority category.

Eligibility criteria for UG AWT 2011

Age: Applicants must be at least 17 years of age on 31st December 2011 (the date of birth being shown on the Matriculation or Higher Secondary Certificate or equivalent certificate). Applicants born after 31st December 1994 are not eligible to apply for admission to Undergraduate courses starting in July 2011.

Nationality : Applicants must be citizens of India for UG AWT 2011. Persons of Indian Origin with Citizenship of other countries may apply under NRI category for which a separate prospectus is available. No other foreign national will be admitted.

Academic requirements : A candidate for admission to MBBS and BDS courses must have obtained not less than 50% marks in English and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at the qualifying examination (as per MCI Regulations 1997).

For admission to B.Sc. Nursing and BPT course a Candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English in 10+2 examination. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, backward classes the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English taken together in qualifying examination be 40%.

General school information
Candidate must have passed qualifying examination as under: -
1.The higher secondary examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology after the introduction of the 10+2+3 years education structure as recommended by the National Committee on education; OR
2.The intermediate examination in science of an Indian University/Board of recognized examining body with Physics, Chemistry and Biology which shall include a practical test in these subjects and also English as a compulsory subject;
OR
3. The Pre-professional/pre-medical examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, after passing either the higher secondary school examination, or the pre-university or an equivalent examination. The pre-professional/pre-medical examination shall include a practical test in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and also English as a Compulsory Subject.
OR
4. The first year of the three-year degree course of a recognized university with Physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in these subjects provided the examination is a University Examination. and candidate has passed 10+2 with English at a level not less than a core course.
OR
5. *B.Sc. examination of an Indian University, provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc. examination with not less than two of the following subjects-Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany, Zoology) and further that he/she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with the following subjects-Physics, Chemistry and Biology and English.
OR
6. *Any other examination which, in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the intermediate science examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in each of these subjects and English.

* Candidates will have to obtain eligibility from the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Punjab.

Note 1: Punjab domicile candidates should have passed his/her 10+1 and 10+2 examination or other qualifying examination (as listed above) as regular candidate from a recognized institution situated in Punjab only. The candidate would be required to submit a certificate to this effect from the Principal/Head of the Institution last attended in the prescribed Performa.

The candidates who have studied as regular students both for 10+1 and 10+2, for two years in a recognized institution situated in Punjab and have appeared in the 10+2 examination from that institution but due to failure have cleared the 10+2 examination in supplementary batch, or subsequently are also eligible subject to the condition that they clear such examination before submitting form for Entrance Test or if they have appeared in the examination, at the time of submissions of the form for entrance test and their result of 10+2 is yet awaited, they submit a proof of having cleared the said examination at the declaration of the awaited result with requisite eligibility conditions.

Note 2 : In case the candidate has also studied Mathematics along with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English then the marks obtained in Mathematics are not to be considered for the purpose of calculation of 10+2 marks for consideration of merit.
Note 3 : Examination of universities / board / body outside India

Applicants seeking admission on the basis of qualification obtained in foreign countries from a University/Board outside India shall apply to the Registrar Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Kotkapura Road, Faridkot-151 203, Punjab., India http://www.bfuhs.ac.in to receive an Eligibility certificate for applying for admission to 1st year Undergraduate courses of this college. If a true copy of the eligibility certificate does not accompany the detailed marks of the qualifying examination for admission, the application will not be considered. However, all applicants who are hopeful of getting eligibility certificate from Baba Farid University of Health Sciences can appear in the entrance test provided the fee for the test has been paid by the applicant.

Candidates having qualifying examinations from schools / institution outside India are to produce proof of Indian citizenship (Passport only) at time of admission. It is upon the candidate to prove and support with appropriate documentation and certificates that he / she is eligible to apply under a certain category and for the courses mentioned. No documentation is to be produced for applying to appear in the UG AWT 2011 and as such information provided in the ICR form will be considered as true. Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to MBBS 2011

The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to MBBS Programme at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjang Hospital and Army College of Medical Sciences, both affiliated to Gur Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, will be conducted in two stages on 7.5.2011 and 28.5.2011.

Vardhman Mahavir Medical College was established at Safdarjang Hospital by the Government of India and Army College of Medical Sciences (ACMS), was established by Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) for providing quality medical education to the children of eligible serving Army personnel, eligible Ex-Army personnel and war widows/widows of the Army.

One Hundred and Forty seats are available at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College, of which, 109 seats will be filled on the basis of the Common Entrance Test, 21 seats through All India Quota based on the AIPMT Rank of CBSE and remaining 10 seats through Central Pool of allocation.

Out of the 109 seats to be filled on the basis of CET-2011, 72 seats are earmarked for students from Delhi Region and the remaining 37 seats will be filled on All India Region basis.

Of the 72 seats earmarked for students from Delhi Region, 59 seats are subsidized seats with 25,4,11 and 19 seats being identified as General, SC, ST and OBC respectively. The remaining 13 seats are open for all categories.

Of the 37 seats under All India Region, 9 seats are under ‘General’ category while 6, 4 and 8 seats are reserved for SC, ST and OBC respectively. The remaining 10 seats in All India Region are open.

The location of the school/college from which the candidates have passed the qualifying examination will form the criteria for deciding the region of the candidates. The candidates who have studied 10+2 (11th & 12th) classes in the recognized School/College in Delhi and passed the qualifying examination from any

School/College located in Delhi shall fall under 'Delhi Region Category'. Those who have passed the qualifying examination (11th &12th Class) from any School/College located in any part of the country shall fall under 'All India Region Category'. Those who have passed the qualifying examination from any School/College located in Delhi shall be considered for admission under both ‘Delhi Region Category’ as well as ‘All India Region Category’. This consideration shall, however, be on the basis of merit of the candidate.

Subsidized seats carry a fee of Rs.15,000/- per annum. Non-subsidized fee seats carry a fee of Rs.1,00,000/- per annum. The admission to the ACMS is for the children of eligible serving Army personnel, eligible Ex Army personnel and war widows/widows of the Army. Details regarding eligibility and the Certificates to be produced in support of that are given in detail in the Admission Brochure III available at http://ipu.ac.in/ There are 100 seats for MBBS programme at ACMS. The fee at ACMS is Rs.1,95,000/-

Applicant should be an Indian citizen. Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) are not eligible. Applicant should be of 17 years of age, as on the 31st December, 2011.

Applicant should have passed the 12th Class under the 10+2 Scheme/Senior School Certificate Examination or Intermediate Science (I.Sc.) or an equivalent examination of a recognized University/Board of any Indian State with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (Core or Elective or Functional) and must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (Core or Elective or Functional) individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (40%in case of SC/ST candidates, subject to availability of seat for these categories in the respective institutions). Those who have appeared in the qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (Core or Elective or Functional) and expect to pass the examination with required percentage of marks are also eligible to apply and appear in the CET subject to production of documentary evidence of having passed the qualifying examination with the required subjects and percentage of marks at the time of counselling for admission.

There will be no rounding-off of the percentage of marks of qualifying examination while deciding the basic eligibility of any candidate for admission. If a candidate has 49.9 % marks in his/her qualifying examination, then it will not be rounded off to 50 %.

The cases of those who qualify in CET 2011, but have Compartment/Supplementary in any paper of the qualifying examination degree at any stages, will be considered by the Admission Officer as per University policy and accordingly he shall take final decision regarding grant of admission to such candidates during academic session 2011-12 as per University policy given below:
(i)Compartment/Supplementary cases at any stage who have appeared for examination(s)and the result of the same is/are not declared by the time of counselling/admission, such candidates will not be considered for admission for the academic session 2011-12.
(ii)In case the result of the Compartment/Supplementary examination(s) is/are declared by the time of admission/counselling and the candidate fulfills the eligibility conditions as mentioned above, then such candidates would be eligible for the admission for the academic session 2011-12.

All applicants seeking admission to MBBS programme at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College, Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi and Army College of Medical Sciences, Delhi must appear in the Common Entrance Test for MBBS [CET: MBBS -2011 ],which will be conducted by the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.


There will be two stages of the Common Entrance Test. Only qualified candidates of Stage I will be allowed to appear in Stage II Entrance Test of MBBS.

The CET: MBBS-2011, Stage I will be conducted from 2 pm to 5 pm 07.05.2011 (Saturday) at Bangalore (Code 51), Bhopal (52), Chandigarh (53), Dehradun (54), Delhi (55), Hissar (56), Jaipur (57), Jallandhar (58), Kolkata (59), Lucknow (60), Moradabad (61), Nagpur (62) and Shimla (63). Applicants can indicate two preferred choices for centres in order of his/her preference in the Application Form.
MBBS (Stage II) test will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm on 28.05.2011 (Saturday) at Delhi only.

Both the Stages of the Common Entrance Test will be of 3 hours duration and will have a Question Paper in English with 200 objective type (multiple choice) questions carrying a total of 600 marks, with 50 questions each from Physics, Chemistry, Botany & Zoology.

Each question will be provided with four alternative answers marked as (1),(2),(3)and (4). Out of these, only one correct or most appropriate answer should be selected and marked on the OMR answer sheet using a black ball point pen. Use of pencil is not allowed. Each correct response will get 3 marks. One mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

The level of questions will be that of 12th class under the 10+2 Scheme/Intermediate Science. Syllabi for Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology)shall be as specified by CBSE for class 11th & 12th under 10+2 scheme for students passing class 12th in the year 2011.

The Result of CET: MBBS - 2011 (Stage-I) will be declared on 17.05.2011 at www.ipu.ac.in. The Result of CET: MBBS - 2011 (Stage-II) will be declared on 14.06.2011 at www.ipu.ac.in. Requests for re-checking, re-evaluation, re-assessment or scrutiny of OMR answer sheet will not be entertained.

Only those candidates who secure 50% or more marks (40% or more in case of SC / ST candidates subject to availability of seats for these categories in respective institutions) in the Common Entrance Test: [CET: MBBS-2011 (Stage II)] will be included in the merit lists. Separate merit lists will be prepared for each category including for the wards of Army Personnel eligible for admission ACMS.

The allotment of subsidized and non-subsidized seats will be made strictly on merit on the basis of marks obtained in the CET: MBBS -2011.The criteria of eligibility and all other conditions will be the same for, both, subsidized and non-subsidized seats.
