Prospective applicants need to complete their M.Sc. (in Physics, electronics, Astronomy or Applied Mathematics) or B.E./ B.Tech./ M.E./ M.Tech (in any branch) by August 2012 with 55% marks and above.

Pre selection for a Ph.D. in IUCAA or selection for an integrated Ph.D. in NCRA is also possible. More details (including information for walk-in candidates) are provided in the following website: http://www.ncra.tifr.res.in/inat

LAST DATE TO RECIEVE ONLINE FILLED IN APPLICATION AND ASSESSMENT FORMS IS OCTOBER 15, 2011.

Selection to the research scholarship will be through a written test on Janyary 5, 2012, and two interviews on January 5 and/ or 6, 2012, both to be held in Pune.

IUCAA and NCRA-TIFR: The Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, and the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (NCRA-TIFR), Pune, are two leading centres of research in a wide range of areas in Physics and Astronomy and Astrophysics. IUCAA and NCRA-TIFR are located on neighbouring campuses in the Pune University Campus.
IUCAA offers challenging opportunities to young researchers in theory, observation, and instrumentation in Astronomy and Astrophysics. Recently, IUCAA has acquired a share in the 10-m Southern African Large Telescope; it also operates the IUCAA Girawali Observatory with a 2-m optical Telescope. Both telescopes have imaging, spectroscopic and polarimetric capabilities. IUCAA also has a high-performance computational facility and a good library.

NCRA-TIFR offers exciting opportunities for research in Astronomy and Astrophysics, and instrumentation, with an emphasis on radio astronomy. NCRA-TIFR has built and operates the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope, which is located near Pune, and is the biggest and most powerful radio telescope in the world at low radio frequencies. It has been used internationally and has led to several significant discoveries. NCRA-TIFR has modern computing facilities and a well-stocked library.
IUCAA-NCRA Admission Test (INAT-2011): The IUCAA-NCRA Admission Test (INAT-2011) is being conducted to select candidates for a research scholarship towards a Ph.D. at either IUCAA or NCRA-TIFR.

Eligibility : Applications are invited from students who expect to complete their M.Sc. or B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech. degrees by August 2012 with above 55% marks. In addition, talented final year B.Sc, 1st year M.Sc and 2nd/3rd year B.E./B.Tech. students may also apply to be PRESELECTED for a research scholarship towards a Ph.D. at IUCAA for Physics or Astronomy and Astrophysics or at NCRA-TIFR for Astronomy and Astrophysics. Students in any branch of the B.E, B.Tech, M.E. or M.Tech. degrees, or in the Physics, Electronics, Astronomy or Applied Mathematics branches of the B.Sc. or M.Sc. degrees, are eligible to apply for INAT-2011. Students who have already completed any of the above degrees are also eligible.

Students in the final year of the B.Sc. or the first year of the M.Sc. degrees (in the above branches) may also apply for selection to NCRA's integrated Ph.D. programme. Such students would attend one year of courses (taught in collaboration with IISER-Pune) before joining the IUCAA-NCRA graduate school.

Selection Procedure: We are looking for highly motivated students with a consistently good academic record. While we strongly encourage students from engineering backgrounds to apply for INAT-2011, we emphasize that we are looking for students who are interested in carrying out doctoral research in Physics or Astronomy and Astrophysics. We hence expect prospective candidates to have a good understanding of basic physics.

The selection to a research scholarship will be through a written test and two interviews. Note that, for both IUCAA and NCRA-TIFR, the selection through INAT is in addition to the selection through the Joint Entrance Screening Test. Post-Graduate Programme in Banking and Finance – PGPBF
Admission 2012 – 2014

Established in 1969 as an autonomous institution by the Reserve Bank of India in consultation with the Government of India, NIBM is the apex institution in banking and finance. NIBM has its own campus with all modern educational, institutional and residential facilities and a library with more than 65000 books and 350 journals and periodicals. PGPBF, held on residential basis, is providing to the financial system a pool of talented youngsters thoroughly trained and prepared with Analytical Skills & Perspectives in Banking and Finance for directly taking up managerial responsibilities.

Eligibility Criteria for
Post-Graduate Programme in Banking and Finance (PGPBF)
The candidate must hold a Bachelor's Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA, awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the bachelor's degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree. In case the candidates are awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the conversion of grades/CGPA to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the university/institution from where they have obtained the bachelor's degree. In case the university/institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidates CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100.

Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirement and are awaiting results can also apply. Such candidates must produce a certificate from the Principal/Head of the Department/Registrar/Director of the University/Institution certifying that the candidate is currently in the final year/is awaiting final results and has obtained atleast 50% marks or equivalent based on latest available grades/marks. Such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally only if they submit a certificate latest by June 30, 2012 from the Principal/Registrar of their college/institute (issued on or before June 30, 2012) stating that they have completed all the requirements (the results may, however, be awaited) for obtaining the bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate. Their admission will be confirmed only when they submit the mark sheet and a certificate of having passed the bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification referred to in the certificate issued by Principal/Registrar of their college/institute with atleast 50% marks. The deadline for submission of the mark sheet and the certificate is December 31, 2012. Non-fulfillment of this condition will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission. NIBM would not allow any candidate to join the programme in case the candidate is unable to complete all the requirements for a bachelor degree on or before June 30, 2012. NIBM would also not offer admission to any candidate after June 30, 2012.

Instances of provision of incorrect information and process violation detected at any stage of the selection process will lead to disqualification of the candidate from the selection process. If such instances go undetected during the current selection process but are detected in subsequent years, such disqualification will take place with retrospective effect.

Admission Procedure
Candidates seeking admission to the PGPBF of NIBM should appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) by IIMs as a pre-requisite. The CAT registration will be held from August 17 to September 28, 2011.

The candidates should follow the CAT advertisement of IIMs in leading newspapers on August 7, 2011, for full details about obtaining CAT 2011 vouchers. After obtaining CAT 2011 vouchers and registering for CAT, the candidate should apply to NIBM by filling NIBM's application form and furnish CAT Reg. No.

Candidates short-listed on the basis of CAT scores will be called for Group Discussion and Interview for final selection during Feb-March 2012.

CAT score is used for short-listing candidates who apply for admission to NIBM. IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the Programme.
