Spot admission for vacant seats for Advanced PG Diploma Programme in Communication Engineering

Department of Optoelectronics, University of Kerala and Regional Telecom Training Centre (R.T.T.C.), Trivandrum of Bharath Sanchar Nigam Limited, Government of India are jointly conducting an Advanced PG Diploma Programme in Communication Engineering of one year duration. The course will be started in November 2013. A number of seats belonging to General and SC/ST categories remains vacant for this year admission. Spot admission to the vacant seats is possible in a first come first serve basis from the eligible candidates. IIM Rohtak aims at excelling in the interdisciplinary research globally and is deeply committed to foster fundamental, applied, and policy oriented research. It is open to work with partners from academia, industry and government in fulfilling its goal of excellence. The doctoral programme in management (hereafter, Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)) at IIM Rohtak strives to incorporate the strengths of similar programmes in other IIMs and other major institutions and has included specific innovative features as per the emerging needs. The FPM programme is in line with the vision of the institute to be a global leader in the creation and dissemination of knowledge in management and to be India’s future global learning center like the ancient Nalanda was During 2014-15, the FPM will be offered in the following broad Areas: Business Environment; Financial Management; General Management; Human Resources Management; Information Technology Systems; Marketing; Operations and Strategic Management.

Admission Procedure
The admission to FPM of IIM Rohtak will be open to all Indian citizens, non-resident Indians, persons of Indian origin living abroad and other foreign citizens. Admission will be based on academic qualifications, performance in the qualifying examination/tests, personal interviews and the work experience.

Eligibility
The candidates should have at least one of the following qualifications:
1. Post-Graduate degree or equivalent in any discipline with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA.
2. Qualifications of CA, ICWA or CS with at least 50% marks.
3. Professional qualifications such as MBBS, LLB and similar qualifications with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA.
4. Engineering degrees, viz., B.Tech and B.E, with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA.
5. Candidates with qualifications equivalent to MBA as approved by the Association of Indian Universities.

Qualifying Examination
A candidate should have a valid test score not older than two years from the date of application in any of the following tests:
1. CAT conducted by IIMs
2. GMAT/GRE (General/Advanced)
3. UGC/CSIR JRF (other JRFs will not be considered)
4. GATE
5. PGDM of IIMs not older than 5 years
Those appearing for the final eligibility exams can also apply; but, their final selection will be subject to successful completion of the requirement. Such applicants should submit the required proof of their eligibility qualifications latest by 30th of September 2014 following the date of admission.
The respective Areas will decide its own choice of tests (one or multiple) from among the tests listed above. A candidate can apply to two Areas at a time. Therefore, getting shortlisted or selected in one Area will not guarantee shortlisting or selection in another Area. Further, if different Areas schedule the interviews on the same date and time, the candidate will be required to decide which Area interview s/he would attend and the candidate will not be entitled to claim any special consideration including rescheduling of interviews.
Wherever the total and/or the sectional scores of the qualifying examination mentioned above, the candidates should have scored at least 60 percentile in total and 50 percentile in each of the sections to be eligible to apply for the FPM of IIM Rohtak. In case of GMAT score, it should be 600 and be in the top 15 percentile. The actual cut-off scores used by different Areas for shortlisting may, however, be higher than the scores mentioned as minimum eligibility.
Candidates possessing PGDM of IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 5.5 out of 10 or equivalent will be eligible for applying directly (i.e., without again taking   qualifying examination).
Non-Resident Indians, Persons of Indian origin and other foreign citizens should have a valid GMAT/GRE score of not older than two years from the date of application.

Personal Interview
The number of candidates to be called for interview in each Area will be decided by the Area from year to year. The shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interview at IIM Rohtak or any other venue fixed by the Institute during April 2014 which will be mentioned in the call letter for interview. In the interviews, the candidates will be assessed for their intellectual capabilities, research aptitude and interest in the management discipline.
The shortlisted candidates called for interview will be paid not more than III AC train fare by the shortest route, from their reported point of residence to the interview venue and back. There will not be any reimbursement for candidates based abroad to attend interviews. On special request, interviews through video conferencing may be considered in the case of candidates based abroad.

Financial Aid
The participants of the FPM will be given a fellowship of Rs. 25,000/- per month in the first and second years; and Rs. 30,000/- per month for the third and fourth years. In addition to this, a merit fellowship of Rs. 10,000/- per month in the second year and Rs. 15,000/- per month in the third and fourth years is given to the deserving participants.
All the participants will receive a contingency grant of Rs. 1,85,000/- distributed across four years of the programme.
The participants will be provided potential financial support for attending national and international conferences as well as for academic exchange visits to partner institutions as per the institute norms.
The FPM of IIM Rohtak is a residential programme and all the participants are required to stay in the campus. The existing medical facilities that are being used by other members of the institute will be available to them.
IIM Rohtak will not charge tuition and certain other related fees from the participants who receive the fellowship. They are expected to pay for their food expenses, admission offer acceptance fee, alumni association fee, placement fee and any other fee specified. Family accommodation charges with electricity and water charges will be applicable, if availed.
The participants who are admitted under the categories of non-resident Indians, persons of Indian origin living abroad and other foreign citizens will be required to pay the following fees:

FPM Process
The FPM consists of two major phases. In the first phase, the participants will attend courses in the first two years. In the first year, most of the courses are from the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) and builds the fundamental understanding in Management. In the second year, all the courses are designed exclusively for the FPM that strengthen the specialization area of the participants. Along with the second year courses, a participant will be undertaking a pre-thesis dissertation work. At the end of first year, the participants will undertake a Summer Internship facilitated by the Institute. After two years, the participants are expected to pass a comprehensive viva voce examination to infer that they have acquired the necessary capabilities to undertake independent research. The transition from one year to the next year is based on stipulated performance of the participants.
In the second phase, the participant will develop and present a research proposal. After undertaking the required research as proposed, the participant will submit the doctoral thesis before the end of fourth year. The submission of thesis will be permitted after the participant publishes a peer reviewed international journal article (or a paper is accepted for publication) and a national/international conference proceedings paper. During the course work, the participants will be mentored by the faculty advisor and followed, in the third year, by a research advisory committee consisting of three faculty members to guide the research and the dissertation writing. The thesis will be examined by a panel of experts who are well recognized in the research domain of the thesis.

The participant with an IIM PGDM is exempted from the first year PGP coursework. All the participants are permitted to submit the thesis after spending three years at the institute.

Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS) invites applications for its Ph.D. programme.

Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS) provides an excellent opportunity for young and motivated researchers to pursue a career in basic and applied Life Sciences research. DIPAS endeavors in optimizing human performance under extreme operational environments using physiological, biochemical, nutritional and ergonomic approach. The labs are equipped with state-of-art facilities to conduct human studies, animal and in-vitro experimentation with an interdisciplinary approach. Cutting-edge technology (Micro-Array facilities, MALDI-TOF, Human Decompression Chamber, CAD, Bio informatics and Nanotechnology) at the institute encompasses broad interdisciplinary areas-Physiology; Biochemistry; Bio medical Sciences; Biotechnology and Organic Chemistry/Phytochemistry.

Admission Notice MBA: 2014-16

Shiv Nadar University’s School of Management and Entrepreneurship (SME) is launching its maiden program, the Master of Business Administration in 2014. The 2 year, full time, residential program is designed specifically to respond to the needs of industry and to provide a high quality education to students who have the passion to develop themselves into outstanding leaders of organizations. SME’s MBA program will offer an electives based structure for students to explore diverse areas of importance to business management based on their interests.

Eligibility to Apply:
You must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA from any of the recognized Universities, Deemed Universities, Institutions of National Importance or from a Professional Body including ICAI, ICSI, ICWAI, etc.

You can also apply if you are awaiting the result of the final year. In such case, conditional offer of admissions will be made subject to obtaining the minimum required scores in the final examination. You will be required to produce a certificate latest by July 31, 2014 from the Principal/Registrar of their college/institute stating that you have completed all the requirements (the results may, however, be awaited) for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/ equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate. The transcript of the final examination will have to be submitted at the Registrar’s office latest by October 31, 2014.

Application and Selection Process:

The selection for SME’s MBA program will be through a 3 step process:

Step 1   Application: You will need to make a detailed application online in the prescribed format here. Please ensure the information you provide is accurate and detailed.
Step 2   CAT or GMAT Score: You can apply for admission based on your CAT (conducted by IIM’s) or GMAT score.
In case you are seeking admission based on CAT score, the scores should only be from CAT 2013. Also, provide your unique CAT registration number in the application form without which the application form will not be processed.
In case you are seeking admission through GMAT, the test should have been taken on or after August 1, 2011.
Step 3   Essay and Personal Interview: Based on the above two steps, a selected number of candidates will be invited for Personal Interview at SNU Campus between February and March. The candidates will also be required to demonstrate their analytical and writing skills by writing an essay on a topic given on the spot.

Fees and expenses:

The fees for SME’s MBA program is Rs. 9 lakhs for the two year program. The fees includes tuition, accommodation at University hostel (single bedded independent rooms), academic expenses like basic program material, royalty for copyright material, library and network charges. Stay on campus is mandatory for students. This fees does not include mess charges (pay per meal basis), laundry charges (fixed) and other living expenses.

ADMISSION
Admission to the fully residential two year PGDFM is open to graduates from any discipline provided he/she fulfils the eligibility criteria and qualifies through the selection process.

Eligibility
Applicants should have at least a three-year bachelor's degree in any discipline obtained through the 10+2+3 system or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with a minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST/DA) or equivalent CGPA.

Candidates appearing for the final year graduation examination are also eligible to apply provided they complete it before June 30, 2014 and fulfill the eligibility criteria as set by IIFM.

Admission Procedure

STEP-1: Common Admission Test (CAT)
All applicants desirous of seeking admission in PGDFM at IIFM have to appear for Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIMs), by responding to their notification published in leading national dailies. IIFM will use the CAT score for short-listing the candidates for calling for GD/PI. IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.

STEP-2: IIFM Application Form:
In addition to CAT, the candidate should also apply to IIFM separately through one of the following ways:-

Apply online click click and remit the application fee of Rs 900/- (Rs 450/- for SC/ ST) through Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Netbanking.
Apply online through MPOnline authorized KIOSK Centre (click here to see the list of MPOnline authorized KIOSK) and remit the application fee in cash.
Download the application click here and send it along with Demand Draft of Rs 900/- (Rs 450/- for SC/ST) with all attachments by speed post.
Obtain admission bulletin and the application form personally or by post by sending a Demand Draft of Rs 900/- (Rs 450 for SC/ST) in favour of Director, Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal

Application complete in all respect including the CAT registration number (which will be available on CAT vouchers issued by IIM) should reach IIFM Bhopal on or before 21st January 2014.

STEP-3: Group Discussion/Interview:
Candidates shortlisted on the basis of CAT score, will be called for Group discussion and Interview at Bhopal, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata based on the choice of candidates, as mentioned in the Application Form. However, IIFM reserves the right on the allotment of choice of centre to the candidates.

Reservation
15%, 7.5%, 27% and 3% of the seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the SC, ST, Non-Creamy-OBC and DA, (also referred to as Persons with Disability (PWD) respectively, provided they meet the minimum selection criteria as specified by IIFM.

Scholarship to SC students
IIFM is recognized as an Institute of Excellence under the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme of Top Class Education for Scheduled Castes (SC) Students offered by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. This scholarship (total 4) is available to SC category students at IIFM subject to fulfillment of the conditions laid down by the Ministry. The scholarship will cover expenditure of full-fee and lodging boarding charges, books and stationary charges at a fixed rate. A laptop for eligible candidates will also be provided during their study at IIFM.

Scholarship to ST students

Providing inaccurate or incomplete information or malpractice of any kind or canvassing will result in disqualification of the candidate.

 Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D. Program in the Department of Electronic Science. Candidates willing to pursue the research work leading subsequently to Ph.D. (Science) degree in Electronic Science of the University of Calcutta should apply in the prescribed proforma downloadable from University website (www.caluniv.ac.in) .   The application form accompanied by the counterpart of a challan (obtainable from the sales counter of the University at its College Street campus) of Rs. 100/- should be submitted to the office of the Secretary, University College of Science at the above address. The challan must be endorsed by the Head of the Department before deposition of fees at any cash counter of the University.
 The eligible candidate will have to appear at a written examination to be held in the Department, the details of which are appended below. Successful candidates will have to appear for an interview/counseling. The final selection for joining the Ph.D. Program of this Department, along with the allocation of supervisor; will be made on the basis of this interview/counseling.

Ph.D. in Engineering

(i) A minimum of 65% marks or 6.5 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level,

Ph.D. in Pharmacy
a) Applicants with master’s degree in pharmacy or in an allied discipline/area must have a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level.
b) Applicants with bachelor’s degree in pharmacy must have a minimum of 75% marks or 7.5 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the bachelor’s degree level. The applicants should be qualified in GPAT or GATE or DBT-JRF or ICMR-JRF or NET-LS or CSIR/NET-JRF or DSTINSPIRE
fellowship.

Ph.D. in Sciences

Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Programmes
a) Ph.D. in Systems Engineering
Applicants with bachelor’s and master’s degree in any branch of Engineering must have a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level. Applicants with bachelor’s degree in any branch of engineering must have a minimum of 75% marks or 7.5 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the bachelor’s degree level. The applicants with bachelor’s degree should also be qualified in GATE for the award of Institute Assistantship.

b) Ph.D. in Industrial Management
Applicants with bachelor’s degree in any branch of engineering and master’s degree in any branch of engineering/management must have a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level.
Applicants with bachelor’s degree in any branch of engineering must have a minimum of 75% marks or 7.5 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the bachelor’s degree level. The applicants with bachelor’s degree should also be qualified in GATE for the award of Institute Assistantship.

Ph.D. in Humanities and Social Sciences (English)
Applicants with master’s degree in arts (English) should have a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level.
Applicants should be qualified in UGC-NET-LS or UGC-NET-JRF.
