Fee Concessions / Scholarships Offered for First year B.Tech Admission

1. Tuition fee will be 'exempted for 10% of management quota students having morethan 90% marks for Physics, Chemistry and  Mathematicsin the qualifying examination. 

2. Students having ranks less than 10,000 in Entrance Examination conducted by Commission for Entrance Examination (CEE) and more than 75% marks for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the qualifying examination have to pay only government fees applicable to self financing colleges. However, if the family income is less than 4.5 lakhs they have to pay only government college fees. (This is limited to a maximum of 10% of management quota seats).

3. There will be a scholarship of Rs. 10000/- for top ten students who are admitted under merit quota and having ranks less than 10,000 in Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination.

4. 15% of the Government quota seats are reserved for the students belonging to SIUC community. They have to submit SIUC certificate issued by the Bishop of South Kerala Diocese, to the CEE before the stipulated time.

Objective of the Course

 To mould fresh electronics engineers and to retrain working engineers into High Caliber Embedded System Designers by enhancing their knowledge and skills in various hardware and software design aspects of Embedded Systems. This course offers a range of topics of immediate relevance to industry and makes the students exactly suitable for industries engaged in Embedded System development. This course is also an excellent preparation for those wishing to engage in application research in this rapidly developing area.

Outcome of the Course

Participants get exposure with different families and architectures of Embedded System tools such as Microcontrollers, DSPs, FPGAs etc.

Participants shall get the expertise required to design any embedded system (h/w or s/w or both) based on any of the above tools

Participants become highly proficient in Embedded Software particularly in real-time programming with Industry standard RTOS such as VxWorks and RTLinux.

ELIGIBILITY

M.E./M.Tech or B.E./B.Tech in Electronics/ Electronics & Communication/ Electrical/ Electrical and Electronics/Instrumentation/ Biomedical /Computer Science/Information technology or MSc in Electronics/ Instrumentation/ Computer Science/Information technology.

Inter University Centre for IPR Studies, Cochin University of Science & Technology, Cochin has invited applications for scholarships for PhD in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). 

Areas of research : 

The research area must be related to IPR issues. Some of the areas identified are :

(a) Access to medicine and patent law; 

(b) Limitations and exceptions on intellectual property laws; 

(c) Protection of geographical indications; 

(d) Protection of Genetic Resources; 

(e) Protection of Traditional and Indigenous/Tribal knowledge; Protection of Ayurvedic practices in Kerala; 

(f) TRIPS obligations - Federal questions in India; 

(g) Farmers’ Protection; 

(h) Patenting of biotechnology; 

(i) Protection of Plant Varieties; 

(j) Information technology and law; and

Qualification :

Eligibility : Applicants eligible for PhD registration in CUSAT or a student already registered for PhD in CUSAT in IPR related areas and not enjoyed or enjoying any fellowship areeligible to apply. The post-graduate degree could be in Law, Economic, Political Science, History, Science and Technology etc. Full time researchers alone are eligible for award of scholarship. OR

Masters Degree from any University with atleast 55% marks or CGPA of 6 in the 10 point scale in any discipline. Selected students are eligible for PhD registration in CUSAT.

Scholarship details : 

Rs.12,000 per month and Rs.20,000 per year as contingency grant.

ADMISSION : 

Objective type entrance test both in Tamil and English followed by personal interview. The Tamil Nadu Government rules of communal reservation and reservation for differently abled candidates will be applied in the selection of candidates

APPLICATION :

Application form and Prospectus can be had from the Registrar on payment of Rs.300/- by sending a Demand Draft obtained from any Nationalized Bank payable at Tiruchirappalli (drawn in favour of "Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli") on or after the date of advertisement. Demand Draft for Rs.150/- for SC/ST Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu on production of Xerox Copy of the Community Certificate. Name and Address of the applicant and the course applied for should be mentioned on the reverse side of the Demand Draft. Those who want to receive applications by post must enclose a self-addressed envelope (size 30cm x 25cm) stamped to the value of Rs.20/-. Application form can also be downloaded from www.bdu.ac.in in which case, the cost of application form Rs.300/- (for SC/ST Candidates Rs.150/-) should be sent by way of DD while submitting the filled-in application form.

Last date for application submission is 04-06-2012.
