Post Doctoral Fellowship of Indian Institute of Technology Madras for Women

IIT Madras offers Short Term Post Doctoral Fellowship for women with Ph.D with an objective of maintaining awareness and interest in high quality academic research in the engineering departments of Aerospace, Applied Mechanics, Biotechnology, Chemical, Civil, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical, Engineering Design, Mechanical, Metallurgical & Materials and Ocean and in the departments of Chemistry, Humanities & Social Sciences, Management Studies, Mathematics and Physics.

Aim : The focus of the scheme is primarily to sustain and nurture the involvement of women with Ph.D who could not pursue their interest in research due to personal / professional reasons. In other words the scheme is not intended for career advancement of those for whom alternate avenues for research are open and available.

Eligibility : Candidates should have a Ph.D in the appropriate discipline. There is no age limit prescribed.
Duration : The duration of the fellowship will vary from 2 to 6 months, consisting of 2 to 3 visits of duration not less than two months. After the first visit, the Department at its discretion may extend the fellowship to a maximum total duration of six months.

Details of Support:
a) Rs.25000/(consolidated) per month.
b) Return Train Fare by II AC from place of residence in India to IIT Madras.
c) Suitable accommodation as per IIT norms will be offered if requested and if available.

The B.Ed. Distance Education Programme aims at enabling the in-service teachers to acquire appropriate knowledge, understanding and skills relating to modern methods of teaching/learning processes and develop a role-perception to play the role of a teacher effectively and efficiently as an agent of social change in the 21st century.

Eligibility : In-service teachers with a Bachelor's degree in Tamil/ English/ Mathematics/ Physics/ Chemistry/Zoology/Botany/History /Geography/ Computer Science or a Post- Graduate degree in Economics/Commerce/Home Science.

At least 2 years of teaching experience serving in Schools in Tamil Nadu (Nursery/ Primary/ Secondary/ Higher Secondary/ Matriculation Schools) recognised by the Government of Tamil Nadu / Government of India alone are eligible to apply. AND, admission will be done based on the score obtained by the candidate in the Entrance Examination conducted by the TNOU all over Tamil Nadu.
Programme Fee : The total programme fee of Rs.10,000/- for first year should be paid only by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of 'Tamil Nadu Open University' payable at Chennai at the time of counselling for admission. The total programme fee of Rs.10,000/- for the second year should be remitted by Demand Draft in favour of 'Tamil Nadu Open University' payable at Chennai after receiving the intimation from the University.

Evaluation Procedure : The scheme of evaluation of the performance of student-teachers will consist of two main components:
§ Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA)
§ Term-End Examinations (TEE)

Scheme of Entrance Examination : The following is the scheme of entrance examination:
i) The Entrance Examination will be for a duration of 2 hours and for a maximum of 100 marks with 100 questions.
ii) Questions will be of multiple-choice type. Optical Mark Reader (OMR) coding answer sheets will be supplied to the candidates.
iii) The Question paper will be divided into two parts A & B. Part A will test General English Comprehension, Logical and Analytical Reasoning , Educational and General Awareness and Teaching-Learning Practices in the School.

Date and Venue of Entrance Examinations : The Entrance Examination will be held in important cities and at 5 B.Ed Programme Study Centres in Tamil Nadu from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, 09.01.2005. The names and address of the Entrance Examination Centres are given in the Annexure II. The Admit Cards/Hall-tickets will be sent to the eligible candidates by the University directly. The decision of the University on eligibility to appear for Entrance Examination will be final.

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana under department of Science and Technology has invited applications from School and College students of Academic year 2010-11, as per following streams, interested in research careers, for KVPY Fellowships:

STREAM SA:
Students enrolled in the XI Standard (Science subjects) and have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks in aggregrate in Mathematics and Science subjects in the X Standard Board Examination.

STREAM SB +2(SX):

All India Photography Contest for Children-2010


To provide direct experience of Educational technology instruments such as camera to promote visual communication and creativity expression among children, CIET /NCERT is conducting an All India Photography Contest for Children in the year 2010.

The contest is open to all students/candidates of ages 12-18 years from formal, non-formal, private and government schools from all states and union territories of the country except, the relatives and wards of the employees of CIET /NCERT.

The broad themes of the photographs suggested are as follows:

For age group 12-14 years: Theme 1 -  A memorable moment of my school life and Theme 2 - Go Green Grow Green.

For age group 15-18 years: Theme 1 - Games and sports of India/ My country and Theme 2  - Seasonal or Climate Change

Best 100 entries will be awarded a certificate of merit/commendation. All entries received will be showcased on the CIET website along with the particulars of the participant in the contest.
