ADMISSION TO PROFESSIONAL COURSES IN KARNATAKA FOR THE YEAR 2009-10

Applications are invited from eligible candidates of Karnataka including the wards of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants for registration for the "Common Entrance Test-2009" for admissions to first year Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga / Engineering / Technology / Architecture courses for the seats to be notified by the Government in the Professional Educational Institutions in the state of Karnataka for the academic year 2009-10.

A candidate must appear for the Common Entrance Test conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority, for PCB subjects in case of admission to Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses and PCM subjects in case of admission to Engineering / Technology courses. For admission to Architecture course the candidate must appear for NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture. (Visit KEA website for list of institutions conducting NATA)

The merit will be determined in accordance with the provision of the "Karnataka Selection of Candidates for Admission to Government Seats in Professional Educational Institutions Rules, 2006".

Eligibility:

a) For Medical / Dental courses, the applicant should have passed Karnataka 2 PUC / 12 std. or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and with English as one of the languages of study and have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in the PCB group and should secure a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in PCB subjects in the Common Entrance Test. In case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes (Category-1 , 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B), the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility will be 40% of marks in aggregate in PCB group both in Qualifying Examination and Common Entrance Test.

b) For Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses, the applicant should have passed Karnataka 2nd 2 PUC/ 12 std. or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and with English as one of the languages of study and have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in PCB group irrespective of marks obtained in the Common Entrance Test. In case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes (Category-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B), the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility will be 40% of marks in aggregate in PCB group in the qualifying examination.

For admission to Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses, the candidate should have completed the age of 17 years as on 31 of December 2009.

c) For Engineering / Technology courses, the applicant should have passed Karnataka 2 PUC / 12 Std. or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Electronics / Biology as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study and obtained a minimum of 45% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects, irrespective of marks obtained in the Common Entrance Test.

In case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes (Category-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B), the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility will be 40% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects in the qualifying examination.

d) For Architecture course, the applicant should have passed Karnataka 2 PUC / 12 Std. or equivalent examination with Mathematics as a compulsory optional subject and obtained a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in all the subjects in the qualifying examination (45% of marks in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes (Category-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B)] and should compulsorily appear for NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) and get a minimum of 40% in it. (Including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes)

Important Note:

01.0 A candidate who had obtained a seat in any discipline through the KEA (CET Cell) in any of the previous years will not be eligible to appear for the Common Entrance Test-2009 for selection of a seat in the same discipline. Such candidate will immediately forfeit the seat selected by him during the previous years, upon selection of a seat in a different discipline during the year.

02.0 The merit list of candidates for admission to Medical and Dental courses will be determined only on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in PCB subjects, taken together, in the Common Entrance Test. For Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga / Engineering / Technology courses, the merit list will be determined on the basis of marks obtained in the respective optional subjects, in both qualifying examination and the Common Entrance Test taken in equal proportions. For Architecture course, the Merit list will be determined on the basis of marks obtained in both qualifying examination and NATA taken in equal proportions.

How To Apply:

Brochure cum application form will be supplied through the schools / colleges located within the State of Karnataka in which the students are studying 2 PUC or 12 standard examination upon submission of Demand Draft for Rs. 550/- to the Principals in advance, drawn in favour of "The Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority, Bangalore", payable at Bangalore and Rs. 400/- for students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Category-1. The repeater and ex-students who have passed the qualifying examination within the State of Karnataka before 2009 should also submit the demand draft for the above said amount to the respective schools / colleges. Last date for submission of Demand Draft to the Principal of Schools and Colleges within Karnataka will be 10-02-2009.

The Karnataka candidates residing outside Karnataka (i.e., Horanadu, Gadinadu and other Karnataka candidates) who are studying or who have studied 12 standard or equivalent examination outside the State of Karnataka, within the territory of India, can procure the brochure cum application form by "SPEED POST", by sending a self-addressed cloth-lined envelope of size 25 cm X 30 cm along with a Demand Draft for Rs. 650/- drawn in favour of "The Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority, Bangalore", payable at Bangalore and a Karnataka candidate residing outside India can get the brochure cum application form by sending a demand draft for Rs. 3000/-. The contents on the self-addressed envelope should be in English or Kannada language only. The cover in which the demand draft and self-addressed envelope are sent should be boldly superscribed with the words "REQUEST FOR CET-2009 BROCHURE" and should be sent to the following address of Executive Director by "Speed Post" ONLY. The KEA will not take responsibility for the envelopes sent through courier or given in person or through any other private arrangement and also for incomplete and insufficient address on the envelope. The last date for submission of Demand Drafts by "Speed Post" will be 16-02-2009.

Introduction
This two year MBA programme is offered by DBS which is approved by AICTE, Govt. of India and affiliated to Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU), Dehradun. This programme provides comprehensive industry exposure coupled with academic knowledge. The students successfully completing this programme will get a recognised MBA degree.

MBA Degree shall be conferred in convocation of UTU. Course Declaration
 

The course is a two year full time regular programme divided into four semesters of six months each. The session shall start from August every year out of which there will be a summer training of two months in an organization after appearing in second semester.

Admission to Post Graduate Diploma in Management PGDM 2009 - 2011

GIM PGDM 2009 Eligibility:

Minimum 50% aggregate marks in a three-year Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) recognised by the Association of Indian Universities/AICTE. Candidates who will complete all requirements for the degree by 15th June 2009 may also apply.

If an applicant does not complete all the requirements of his degree by 15th June 2009, or does not obtain 50% aggregate marks in his degree, the offer of admission made to him will stand cancelled.
 
 

The total number of seats is 120. The qualifying cutoff for each year is determined on the basis of the scores of the applicants to the Institute, in the entrance test in that year.

For admission to the post graduate programme in business management 2008-2010, 90.01 was the qualifying percentile cutoff.

For admission to the post graduate programme in business management 2009-2011, only those candidates who register for the XLRI Admissions Test (XAT) 2009 of Xavier Labour Relations Institute, Jamshedpur (XLRI) may apply for admission to GIM.

GIM PGDM 2009 Selection Procedure:

Applicants are required to take the XLRI Admissions Test (XAT), which will be held on January 4, 2009. Register for XAT at www.xlri.edu. Short-listed candidates will be called for further evaluation around February 2009.

GIM PGDM 2009 Admission Procedure:

Candidates seeking admission to GIM are required to observe the following procedure:

Applicants to GIM are required to take the XLRI Admissions Test (XAT), which will be held on 4th January 2009. Register for XAT at http://www.xlri.edu/

Apply online on http://www.gim.ac.in Last date for application is 31st December 2008.

Candidates who have applied for admission to GIM will be shortlisted on the basis of their XAT scores. The shortlisted candidates will be called for face to face evaluation process for final selection in February/March 2009. (Interview centres - Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Panaji)

The final selection will be made tentatively in April 2009 on the basis of XAT scores (50% weightage), the candidate's past academic performance (10% weightage), performance in face to face evaluation process (30 % weightage) and work experience (10% weightage), if any.

The academic session would begin in last week of June/first week of July 2009.

For further evaluation, the qualifying cut-off XAT score will be lowered by 15 points for candidates of Goan domicile/origin. Documentary evidence of domicile will have to be supplied along with the completed Application Form.

Applications are invited in the prescribed form for admission to 3 months full time Post Graduate Certificate Course in Industrial Health (AFIH) commencing from 1st April 2009 to 30th June, 2009 at National Model Centre for Occupational Health Services, BHEL, Tiruchirapalli-620014.

This course is primarily meant for doctors to equip them with knowledge in Occupational Health, which would enable them to prevent occupational and work related diseases in industry This three months course is compulsory for all doctors working in industries involving hazardous operations and processes as per the Factories Act, and also as per the Factories Rules of all States in India.

This course will also open up new frontiers for fresh and young doctors who are aspiring to become industrial medical officers in the near future.

Successful candidates will be awarded "Asociate Fellow of Industrial Health" (AFIH) which will fulfill the requirements in terms of additional qualification of Factory Medical Officers of Hazardous Process Industries as required under the Factories (Amendment) Act, 1987 anywhere in India.

Eligibility for Admission:

  1. MBBS Degree from an Institution recognised by the Medical Council of India.
  2. Completion of Internship.
  3. Permanent Registration with the State Medical Council/Medical Council of India.
  4. Minimum one year experience in Industry/Occupational health related work or 2 years in general practice after completion of internship.

Eligibility : Bachelors degree or equivalent. Preference will be given to those with an aptitude for creative imagination and communication skills.

<strong><span style="color:#ff0000;">M.A in Journalism &amp; Mass Communication ( Full time : 2 year programme)</span></strong>
Eligibility : Bachelors degree or equivalent (10+2+3) from a recognized University with at least 50% marks in aggregate. This course of Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (a unit of Apeejay Institute of Management &amp; IT) is affiliated with UGC recognized Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. The University has been granted 5 star + status.

Admission Procedure
Application : The admission process for the academic session 2009-10 will be on from February 2009. Admission notification advertisements will be released in leading English and Hindi dailies during March - June 2009.

The applications are carefully screened for superior academic performance / communication skills, creative aptitude, interests and extra curricular accomplishments of the candidates.

Admission Test:
Candidates are required to appear for the entrance test conducted at the institute campus between May and June each year. The actual dates shall be intimated separately.

Total Marks 100, Duration 1 hr. at Apeejay campus, New Delhi
There will be two Sections: Objective &amp; Subjective questions comprising:
i. General Awareness, General Knowledge and Current Affairs (50 marks).
ii. Questions related to the field of chosen area. (50 Marks)

There will be Direct Admission for those students with 60% and above marks in graduation, those pursuing final year but have 60% &amp; above marks in their first two years, are exempt from the written test. However, they have to appear before the interview panel.

Admission offer:
After careful evaluation of the previous academic record, performance in the admission test / interview, the Admission Committee prepares a list of selected candidates. Preference will be given to those who display the required aptitude in subjects of the course applied for.

AIMC Guidelines:
Candidates will be eligible for sitting in the examination of each semester after being certified for the following by the Head of the Department.
- of having been enrolled in the department of the course.
- Of having a good moral character.
- Of having 75 per cent of the lectures delivered.

All in-service candidates must produce a 'No Objection Certificate' or 'Study Leave' from the employer at the time of admission.

HOSTEL FEE:

It's a "First Come First Serve" basis accommodation; hence it is in your interest that you take necessary action at the earliest.
a) The total hostel fee will be Rs.5,300/-* per month (Rs.3,300/- as lodging charge and the balance Rs.2,000/- as mess charges)
b) A caution money for Rs.5,000/- (refundable) will have to be paid at the time of admission in the beginning.
* The Hostel Fee may undergo marginal revision.
