The Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore, has invited applications for admission to Summer Research Fellowships-2010. Students who have secured not less than 80% (Maths & Science subjects only) in their 10th and 12th/ equivalent  examinations and not less than first class in graduate and  postgraduate  (if applicable ) examinations are eligible to apply.

Only students presently studying in I&II year of BSc; I,II&III year of BE/ B.Tech/MBBS/ BVSc/BPharma; 1st  year of MSc and I-IV year of ntegrated MSc with the above mentioned academic requirements need to apply.

Students selected under this programme are placed with scientists at the Centre or elsewhere in India for two months with a stipend of Rs. 5000/- PM and travel support as per norms.

Master of Business Administration (4 semesters) (MBA):

Eligibility: Any Bachelor Degree holder in the 10 + 2 + 3 pattern is eligible to apply. The selection is based on Distance Education Entrance Test (DEET) conducted by Anna University Chennai.

Master of Computer Applications (6 semesters).
 
Eligibility: Any Bachelor Degree holder in the 10 + 2 + 3 pattern who had studied Mathematics either at +2 level or Mathematics /Statistics/ Computer as one  of the subjects at the degree level is eligible. The selection is based on the entrance test conducted by the Anna University.

MSc Information Technology (4 Semesters).

Eligibility:  BSc in Mathematics / Computer Science / IT / Software Engineering/ Electronics or BSc Physics / Statistics /  Chemistry or BSc  Applied Sciences / BCA / BE / B.Tech in any branch. The selection is based on Distance Education Entrance Test conducted by the Anna  University, Chennai.

Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, under the Kasthurba Health Society, has invited applications for admission to the MBBS Course at the Institute commencing on July 1, 2010. Selection to the course will be based on the Entrance Examination to be held on 18th April, 2010 at Nagpur, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

Paper in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the Entrance Examination will have multiple choice questions while the Paper on Gandhian Thought will be of long and short answer type.

Applicant must attain 17 years of age as on 31.12.2010 and must have passed the 12th Standard Examination under the 10+2 system of Maharashtra State Higher Secondary Education Board or equivalent examination of any recognized Board or Indian University with individual pass in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in one and the same attempt, obtaining minimum of 50% marks (40% for SC/ST/VJ/NT/OBC) in Physics, Chemistry and Biology together. Those going to appear for 10+2 Higher Secondary Board Examination in March/April, 2010 are also eligible to appear for the Entrance Examination.

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEM-2010), conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board,  for admission to Undergraduate Courses in Engineering/ Technology/ Medical/ Dental and Pharmacy in Universities/Colleges in West Bengal; B. Arch Course in Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur and Jadavpur University for the academic session 2010-2011, will be held on 18.4.2010 (Sunday), at Examination Centres to be located in the State of West Bengal and Tripura, as per the following schedule.

18.4.2010: 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m – Mathematics (100 marks)
18.4.2010: 12.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m - Physics (50 marks) & Chemistry (50 marks)
18.4.2010: 3.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m - Biological Sciences (100 marks)

Scheme of Examination: Availability of Courses for admission through 'JEM- 2010', the subject combinations to appear for JEM and the Type of Form to be used are as follows:

Option 1: Engineering & Technology/B.Arch/Dairy Technology/Agricultural Engineering/Pharmacy - Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry -'E'.

Option 2: Medical/Dental/Pharmacy - Biological Sciences, Physics & Chemistry - 'M'

Option 3: Engineering & Technology/B. Arch/Dairy Technology/Agricultural Engineering/ Pharmacy/ Medical/Dental - Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry and Biological Sciences - 'C'

Eligibility:
Applicant must be an Indian citizen and should have passed the H.S (10+2) or equivalent examination securing at least 50.00% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology taken together for General candidates and 40.00% for SC/ST candidates and at least 30.00% marks in English (for all categories). In addition, applicant must secure at least pass marks in the subjects individually including vernacular (or any other fifth subject) as specified below:

B.E/B.Tech./B.Arch:
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject.

M.B.B.S/B.D.S:
Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject.

PHARMACY:
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject.

For MBBS and BDS courses: In addition to the aforesaid eligibility criteria, General applicants must secure at least 50.00% marks (40.00% for SC/ST) in Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences taken together in the Joint Entrance Examination.  Those appearing in the qualifying examination in 2010 will be allowed to sit for JEM-2010 provisionally. Their admission, if merit listed, will be subject to satisfying the minimum requirements of eligibility as specified above.

Age: Applicant must be of 17 years of age or above as on 31.12.2010. There is no upper age limit except for the Marine Engineering course for which the upper age limit is 25 years as on 31.07.2010.

Residential Requirements: Candidates desirous of seeking admission to Government Engineering/Technology Colleges, Govt. Medical and Dental Colleges as well as to Private Medical and Dental Colleges, must have been residing in the State of West Bengal continuously at least for last 10 years as on 31.12.2009 or their parents must be permanent resident of West Bengal having their permanent home address in the State of West Bengal.

Cost of Application Form:

The total amount (i.e., cost of application form plus Rs.100/-) has to be paid by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of 'West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board', payable at Howrah/Kolkata.

Application Kit may also be obtained from the Board's Office only, from 1.1.2010 to 7.1.2010, on payment of actual cost of the form plus late fee of Rs. 200/- to be paid by way of a Bank Draft to be drawn in favour of 'West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board', payable at Kolkata/Howrah.

The duly filled in application form must be sent in the printed window envelope received by the candidate within the Application Kit by Speed Post only, so as to reach the office of the Board latest by 12.01.2010. Application Form submitted by hand or courier service will not be accepted.
