Joint Entrance Screening Test 2011

Candidates seeking admission  for a Ph. D. Programme in Physics or Theoretical Computer Science in the Participating Institutes may appear for JEST-2011 at one of the Exam Centers.

Participating Institutes have their own eligibility criteria, as described below. Students who are expected to complete their final examinations by August 2011 are also eligible to apply.

Ph.D. Programme

Physics: M.Sc. in Physics or M.Sc. / M.E. / M.Tech. in related disciplines. Candidates with M.Sc. in Mathematics / Applied Physics / Applied Mathematics / Optics and Photonics / Instrumentation / Electronics will also be considered at IIA.

Graduates with a B.E. or B.Tech. will also be considered at IISc, IMSc, IUCAA, JNCASR, NCRA-TIFR, RRI, IISER Mohali, IISER Pune and SNBNCBS.

BE/ BTech/ BCA/ BSc students can also apply for the integrated MSc-PhD programme, see below.

In addition, talented final year B.Sc. and first year M.Sc. (in Physics / Electronics / Astronomy / Applied Mathematics) students may also apply to be pre-selected for research scholarship at IUCAA. Similar pre-selection is open at SNBNCBS for candidates who also have specialization in Bio-Physics, Optics and Opto-Electronics.

At HRI, IISER Pune, NCRA-TIFR and SNBNCBS, candidates with a Bachelor's degree will also be considered for the integrated M.Sc. – Ph.D. programme in Physics. At IMSc, graduates with B.Sc. / B.E. /
B. Tech. degree will also be considered for admission to M.Sc. (Research) programme in Physics and Theoretical Computer Science, as part of an integrated Ph.D. programme.

At SNBNCBS, graduates with B.Sc. (Physics/Mathematics) / B.E. / B.Tech. degree will be considered for the integrated Post-B.Sc.-Ph.D. programme in subject areas mentioned above.

Eligibility

Educational Qualification: A First Class Degree with minimum 60% aggregate marks for the following:

Selection Procedure
(i) Candidates will be issued call up for Service Selection Board (SSB) interviews based on their performance in Degree Course. If a candidate possesses higher qualification with better percentage, his higher qualification will be considered for cut off. Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) reserves the right to short-list applications  and to fix cut off percentage. No communication will be entertained on this account. SSB interviews for short-listed candidates will be scheduled at Bangalore/ Bhopal/ Coimbatore  during Jan to Jun 2011.

(ii) Stage I test, consisting of Intelligence Tests, Picture Perception and Discussion Tests will be conducted on the second day of arrival at SSB. Candidate who fail to qualify in Stage I will be routed back on the same day. Stage II Tests comprising of Psychological Testing, Group Testing and Interview will last for 04 days. Successful candidates will thereafter undergo Medical Examination (approx duration 03-05 days).

iii) Candidates recommended by the SSBs and declared medically fit, will be appointed for training in order of All India  Merit depending on the number of vacancies.

iv) Change of SSB venue for interview is not permissible.

The Post-Graudate Medical Entrance Test (PGMET) and Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) for admission to the following courses will be hel on Saturday, the 5th February, 2011 at Delhi. Interested candidagtes may apply on the prescribed form.

1. Post Graduate Degree Courses:

Eligibility:
Eligibility Criteria for admission to Post-Graduate Degree/ Diploma/ MDS Courses (Except CHA and DHE course):

The candidate must have passed final M.B.B.S. examination for MD/MS Course and BDS examination for MDS Course of the University of Delhi and must have completed satisfactorily one year compulsory rotating internship as on 31.03.2011 and must submit their internship completion certificate before or at the time of appearing for the counselling.

The candidate must have full registration with the Delhi Medical Council/ State Medical Council/ Medical Council of India/ Dental Council of India.

For MD/MS/Diploma Courses: A candidate in order to become eligible for admission must obtain 600 marks out of 1200 i.e. 50% marks in the PGMET.

Provided that candidates belonging to SC and ST categories shall be required to obtain 480 marks out of 1200 i.e. 40% marks in the PGMET and in case of OBC category candidates shall be required to obtain 540 marks out of 1200 i.e. 45% marks in PGMET.

For MDS Courses: A candidate in order to become eligible for admission must obtain 400 marks out of 800 i.e. 50% marks in the PGMET. Provided that candidates belonging to SC and ST categories shall be required to obtain 320 marks out of 800 i.e. 40% marks in the PGMET and in case of OBC category candidates shall be required to obtain 360 marks out of 800 i.e. 45% marks in PGMET.

Eligibility Criteria for admission to MD (Community Health Administration) course:

A candidate must have completed satisfactorily one year of compulsory rotating internship after passing the final M.B.B.S. examination.

The candidate must have full registration with the Delhi Medical Council/ State Medical Council/ Medical Council of India.

The admission of the candidates be made strictly according to the merit based on the PGMET – 2011.

The candidate must have put in 5 years of service on or before 31-03-2011.

For Diploma in Health Education (D.H.E.) Course:

The candidates seeking admission to the above course shall satisfy the following conditions on or before 31-03-2011:

Bachelor's Degree in Medicine and Surgery recognized by Medical Council of India with at least one year's experience of working in General Medicine/ Primary Health Centre/ Department of Preventive and Social Medicine or Community Health or in a Medical College. Preference will be given to those candidates who are in service. OR

Master's Degree in selected Social Science (i.e. Psychology/ Sociology/
Anthropology/ Social Work/ Economics /Political Science/ Education or Nursing from recognized University with at least one year's experience in community health welfare programmes or teaching in Social Biological Science/ Physical Education / Home Science. Preference will be given to those candidates who are in service. OR

Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences as stated in (b) above or Home Science/ Nursing/ Education or Public Health from a recognized University, with at least three years experience in community health and who are in service.

How To Apply:
The selection of candidates for 50% Delhi University Quota seats of the above courses will be made by the University from the Medical Granduagte (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) of the University of Delhi only. Seats of All India Quota in MD (Community Health ADministration) and Diploma in Health Education (DHE) will also be filled up by the University on All India basis.

Applications are invited to join the prestigious Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala under 10+2 Cadet (B Tech) Entry Scheme.

Eligibility:
 
Age: 17 to 19 & ½ years (i.e. born between 02 Jan 1992 & 01 Jul 1994. (both dates inclusive).

Educational Qualification: Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 Pattern) or its equivalent from University / Board with at least 70% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and at least 50% marks in English (either in Class X or Class Xll).

Physical Standards

a) Height and Weight: Minimum height - 157 cms with correlated weight as per age.

(b) Eye Sight: The minimum acceptable vision standard for distant vision 6/6, 6/9 correctable to 6/6, 6/6 with glasses. Should not be colour blind.

Note: There will be no relaxation in physical standards.

Selection ProcedureThe selection procedure for the Entry is as follows-

(a) The candidates will be issued call up for Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews based on their PCM marks in 10+2 / equivalent Examination

(b) SSB interviews for short listed candidates will be scheduled during Feb to May 2011 at Bangalore, Bhopal, Coimbatore.

(c) The total duration of SSB Interviews is of 5 days, consisting Stage I (Day one) and Stage ll (Four days). Stage I Tests consist of intelligence Tests, Picture Perception and Discussion Tests (PPDT). Candidates who fail to qualify in Stage l will be routed back on the same day from SSB centre. Stage ll Tests consist of Psychological Tests, Group Task Tests, Group discussion and interview. Successful candidates will therafter undergo Medical Examination at nearest military hospital for duration of 05 days.

(d) Candidates recommended by the SSBs and declared medically fit, will be appointed for training in order of all India merit depending on the number of vacancies

(e) Change of SSB centre for interviews not permissible.

(f) Candidates who wish to change their SSB dates must apply to the President of the SSB. Award of fresh dates for SSB would be subject to availability at respective SSB.
