The CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB) invites applications from bright young individuals from diverse backgrounds with strong motivation and good academic credentials to pursue research in frontier areas of modern biology leading to a Ph.D degree. The broad interdisciplinary research areas are Biological and Chemical Sciences, Molecular Medicine and Disease Genomics, Environmental Biotechnology and Computational Biology.

WHO CAN APPLY
Masters’ degree (M.Sc/M.Tech/M.Pharm.) with 60% (or equivalent in CGPA) in any branch of Life Sciences/Chemical Sciences/Physical Sciences/ Biotechnology/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science or allied subjects with special interest in Biology.B.Tech (in biological sciences or other branches with special interest in Biology)/B.Pharm./MBBS candidates with 60% (or equivalent in CGPA) may also apply.

Fellowship: M.Sc. candidates should also hold CSIR-UGC (JRF) /DBT (JRF) /ICMR-JRF/DST-INSPIRE (fellowship certificate should be valid as on July 8, 2013, 2013 in all the cases.  Fellowship conditions should allow them to work in CSIR laboratories and under CSIR projects. B.Tech./B Pharm. candidates should have valid GATE score of 95 percentile or above. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for a written test followed by an interview (see below).
Upper age limit is 28 years as on February 28, 2013 (closing date) which is relaxable for SC/ST/OBC/physically handicapped persons as well as woman candidates as per Govt. of India rules in this regard.

HOW TO APPLY
Links to application form will be available from 1st February 2013-28th February 2013 at www.igib.res.in. Instructions for filling in the application form and last date of application will be given therein. Candidates will have to submit a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 500/- (Rs. 250/- for SC/ST candidates). The instructions for the payment will be available on the website.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
Candidates fulfilling minimum requirements will be invited through email to appear for an aptitude test on March 17, 2013 at any of the ten test centers at Delhi, Pune, Kolkata , Chennai, Chandigarh, Trivandrum, Bhopal, Baroda, Hyderabad and Guwahati. The test will be aimed at evaluating abilities to comprehend, analyze and reason along with the aptitude of the candidate in biological sciences. The result of the aptitude test will be declared on CSIR-IGIB website on or before March 22, 2013.
Successful candidates will have to appear for interviews and discussion at CSIR-IGIB from June 10, 2013-June 12, 2013. Selection of candidates for Ph.D program will be based on performance in aptitude test and interview. 
The names of the successful candidates eligible to join CSIR-IGIB Ph.D program will be declared on June 17, 2013. The selected candidates are required to join CSIR-IGIB on or before July 8, 2013.
No TA/DA will be paid at any stage of the selection process. The decision of the Admission Committee will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence will be treated as a disqualification. In case of eligible candidates with already activated JRF fellowships, the consent letter from appropriate authority is to be submitted to CSIR-IGIB at the time of interview otherwise the candidature is liable to cancellation. Candidates should note that non-fulfillment of the eligibility criterion will result in cancellation of candidature at any stage of admission process.

The M.Phil and Ph.D Programmes are offered in the subjects - Commerce, Development Statistics, Economics, Geography, Political Science & Public Administration and Sociology.

Those who wish to apply for M.Phil and Ph.D should be a Master’s Degree holder with 55 percent marks in Social Sciences and admission is based on Entrance Test and Interview. The Entrance Test will be conducted on March 17. Candidates qualified in UGC Test or any National level Test for JRF, M.Phil Degree holders from any recognized University and FIP (UGC) candidates are exempted from the entrance Test for Ph.D Admission.

In continuation of our Admissions – 2013 Notifications for our Ph.D. and Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. programmes at our University published in the National Dailies and in Employment News during October 2012 and also placed on Institute’s website, the following information is again published for the benefit of GATE 2012 / GATE 2013 qualified candidates.

NBRC is inviting applications from GATE 2012 / 2013 qualified candidates in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology and Instrumentation Engineering only, for its Ph.D. and Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. programmes. These candidates should apply to NBRC with their GATE score.

The application can be submitted online or by post.

Invitation to pursue Ph.D. programme in specialized areas of Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences at the Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, Indore.

Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Indore, was founded in 1984 by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) for pursuit of R&D in the areas of Accelerators, Lasers and related technologies. Since then, the Centre has set up two Synchrotron Radiation Sources : Indus-1 & Indus-2, which are national research facilities, and many smaller accelerators for radiation processing applications. The Centre has excellent cryogenic facilities as well as state-of-the-art equipments for low temperature physics measurements. A variety of laser systems, particularly high power lasers, have been built and are being used for a wide range of applications. These include gas lasers (like copper vapour lasers, CO2 lasers), solid state lasers (like diode pumped solid state lasers and semiconductor lasers) for the studies in the areas like biomedical applications of lasers and laser-plasma interaction. The Centre also has long standing programmes in the areas of RF-superconductivity, low-temperature physics, material science, cold atom physics, non-linear optics, opto-electronics, nano-science etc.

RRCAT is a Constituent Institute of the "Homi Bhabha National Institute" (HBNI), a Deemed University, and invites students with appropriate qualifications to pursue Ph.D. programme in various specialized areas of physics, chemistry and life sciences, listed above. As per the rules of HBNI, the Ph.D. programme consists of course work of one year duration followed by research work of up to 4 years duration. The Ph.D. 2013 programme will commence on Aug.1, 2013. DAE Junior Research Fellowships will be offered to those selected for the pursuit of Ph.D. The fellowship amount is Rs.16,000/- per month for the first two years and Rs.18,000/- per month for the subsequent years, subject to satisfactory yearly progress.

Eligibility:

Qualification :

For Physics candidates : M.Sc. degree in Physics with a minimum of 60% overall marks, and who have cleared Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST 2013) and/or CSIR-UGC NET in 2012 (JRF, not lecturership).

For Chemistry and Life Sciences candidates : M.Sc. degree with minimum 60% overall marks, in Chemistry or Life Sciences, and who have cleared joint CSIR-UGC Net in 2012 (JRF, not lecturership), are eligible to apply. Candidates with M.Sc. in  botany /agricultural science should not apply.

Those applicants who are completing the qualifying degree in summer of 2013 can also apply, provided they have minimum of 60% overall marks in the completed semesters. In the event of their selection, the final degree mark sheet would have to be submitted by November 1, 2013. Continuation in the Ph.D. programme will be subject to the candidate obtaining minimum 60% marks overall. 5 year integrated M.S. (of IISERs) will be treated at par with 5 year integrated M.Sc.

Age limit : applicant should be born on or after August 1, 1987.

Nationality : The applicant must be an Indian citizen.

Selection process :

The selection of the students for the Ph.D. programme will be a two-step process: 1) Screening of the applications, followed by 2) Interview of the short-listed candidates by the selection committees at RRCAT.

For Physics candidates, the short-list shall be prepared based on the applicant's score/rank in JEST 2013 and/ or  CSIR-UGC  NET 2012.

For Chemistry and Life Sciences candidates, the short-list shall be prepared based on the applicant's rank in CSIR-UGC Net 2012.

The short-listed Physics candidates shall be called for interview to be conducted tentatively on May 22, 23, 24, & June 17, 18, 19, 20, 2013, at RRCAT, Indore. The applicant must indicate choice of their interview date in the application form, failing which they will have to appear for interview on one of the above dates assigned by RRCAT.

The short-listed Chemistry and Life Sciences candidates shall be called for interview to be conducted tentatively in the third week of May 2013.

All the outstation applicants called for interview will be paid to and fro sleeper class train fare by the shortest route or the actual fare, whichever is less. This is subject to the verification of their eligibility from the original documents before the interview. Please note that candidates appearing for interview will have to submit proof of overall ≥ 60% marks in the completed semesters. In absence of this, the candidate will not be interviewed and the travel cost will not be reimbursed.

The candidates selected in the interviews will be asked to report at RRCAT on July 8, 2013 for the medical examination. The Physics candidates will visit all the guides of the Ph.D. vacancies offered to get a thorough idea about the Ph.D. topics offered. This process and the assignment of Ph.D. topic to each candidate will converge by July 31, 2013. The Chemistry and Life Sciences candidates will be deputed to BARC Training School, Mumbai for their one year course work, and the Physics candidates will carry out their one year course work at BARC Training School, Indore, from the first week of August 2013.

This one year Certificate course is an introductory level foundational course of 20 credits covering:
(i) Humanitarian Principles and Values in context of Disaster Management,
(ii) Introduction to Development,
(iii) Introduction to Hazards, Vulnerabilities and Disasters,
(iv) Disaster Risk Reduction and Development Planning and
(v) Disaster Response and Recovery

Who Can Apply - The programme is meant for a wide variety of learners- practitioners in disaster management globally, IFRC and National Society volunteers and staff at all levels and others interested in disaster management and humanitarian response.

Language of Instruction - The medium of instruction will be English. Applicants whose first language is not English a clear statement from the employer (via their reference) will be accepted as evidence of the applicant’s having an appropriate standard of English Language. Among other things, this statement must confirm that the applicant's job has involved working substantially through the medium of English.

Selection Process - TISS and IFRC will select up to 30 qualified participants to attend this course in the first cohort.

Pre-requisites
Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university as per the guidelines of Association of Commonwealth Universities.

The Radiation Medicine Centre of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre invites applications for undergoing the following post-graduate courses under the aegis of Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) (a Deemed University), Mumbai.

COURSE NO I : DIPLOMA IN RADIATION MEDICINE (DRM)
This course equips candidates for working in Nuclear Medicine Centres. The training comprises a full time schedule of lectures, demonstrations, practicals, apprentice programmes and clinics. Examinations will be conducted by the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai. Candidates should not hold any other job during the period of training, or join any other training programme.

DURATION OF TRAINING : Two Academic Years (2013-2015).

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION : M.B.B.S. Degree including internship of an MCI recognized Institute/University. Candidates having post-graduate medical qualification may also apply. Candidates sponsored by Medical Institutions with immediate prospect of post training employment will compete for 1 (one) seat.

NOTE: Sponsored candidates should furnish an employment certificate from the Head of Institution stating that their salary will be paid during the training period and that they will be employed suitably following the successful completion of training.

COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (CET) : Admission criteria will be a CET (Common Entrance Test) of 200 questions in 3 hours with negative marking for incorrect answers. The CET will be based on Multiple Choice Questions and will have 200 questions at the III MBBS level.
Subjects covered will be, Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Surgery, Gynecology and Obstertics, Opthalmology and ENT, Microbiology, Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Internal Medicine (Cardiology, Pediatrics, Oncology), Infectious diseases, Neurology, Nephrology, Endocrinology and Recent Advances in Medicine.

Minimum marks to qualify will be 50%. A merit list of qualifying candidates will be made and candidates will be selected in order of merit only. The CET will be held in BARC, Trombay, Mumbai. The dates for CET will be announced later and will be available at BARC website (www.barc.gov.in).

AGE LIMIT : Not more than 40 years as on 1st May 2013. Upper age limit can be relaxed in the case of SC/ST/OBC, sponsored candidates and PH category. The candidates with physical disabilities limited to the lower extremities, but permitting to stand and move and physically able to carry out the course requirement only will be considered. The selected candidates should be able to discharge the duties of a Nuclear Medicine Physician.

NUMBER OF SEATS : Maximum 4 (3 non-sponsored and 1 sponsored) may change as per MCI guidelines. If enough candidates in any one category do not qualify, more candidates may be taken from other category subject to qualifying as per merit list and availability of resources.

STIPEND : A Stipend of ` 16000/- p.m. (` Sixteen Thousand only) for the first year and 17000/- p.m. (` Seventeen Thousand only) for the second year will be given to each nonsponsored trainees. However, no stipend is admissible to sponsored trainees.

COURSE NO. II : DIPLOMA IN MEDICAL RADIOISOTOPE TECHNIQUES (DMRIT)
This course equips candidates for working in Nuclear Medicine Centres. The training will comprise of a full time schedule of lectures, demonstration, practicals and apprentice programmes. Examinations will be conducted by the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai. Candidates should not hold any other job during the period of training, or join any other training programme.

DURATION OF TRAINING : One Academic Year (2013-2014).
REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION : B.Sc. Degree with 60% and above marks on aggregate of science subjects of a recognized University with Chemistry, Physics, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biophysics, B.Sc. (Nuclear Medicine Technology) or B.Sc. (Medical Radiological Technology). Those having M.Sc. degree may also apply, but they will not have any preference in selection.

Note: Candidates sponsored by institutions with immediate prospect of post training employment in the same institution can apply if they have 55% aggregate marks in B.Sc. in any of the fields mentioned above. They should furnish an employment certificate from the Head of Institution stating that their salary will be paid during the training period and that they will be employed suitably in the sponsoring Institution following successful completion of training.

COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (CET) : Admission criteria will be a CET (Common Entrance Test) of 150 Multiple choice questions with negative marking for incorrect answers. The CET syllabus will be drawn from Science Subjects. 1) Physics , 2) Chemistry, 3) Maths or Biology of Standard XII or equivalent. Minimum marks to qualify will be 50%. A merit list of qualifying candidates will be made and will be selected in order of merit only. The CET will be held in BARC, Trombay, Mumbai. The dates for CET will be announced later and will be available on BARC website.(www.barc.gov.in)

STIPEND : A Stipend of ` 9300/- p.m. (` Nine Thousand Three Hundred only) will be given to each non-sponsored trainees. However, no stipend is admissible to sponsored trainees.

COMMON FOR BOTH THE COURSE I & II :

FEES : No fees for the training programme will be charged by BARC. However, necessary fees to the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), as prescribed by them will have to be paid. A caution deposit of ` 2000/- (` Two Thousand only) will have to be remitted by the selected candidates to BARC.

ACCOMMODATION : Trainees may apply for hostel accommodation. They will have to pay for boarding and lodging. However, accommodation is not guaranteed.

HOW TO APPLY :

2. PHOTOGRAPH : Two clear front face photographs (passport size) with light background. One should be pasted on the top right hand corner of the application and other, with name of the applicant written in block letters on the reverse, should be enclosed.

4. COPIES OF CERTIFICATES : Attested copies of M.B.B.S. degree certificate, mark sheet and Internship Certificate should be enclosed for DRM and attested copies of B.Sc. Degree (Convocation) Certificate and Marklist alongwith marksheet of Higher Secondary (XII Std.) for DMRIT.
5. NOTE : Persons working in the Central / State Government / Public Sector Undertaking should submit their applications through proper channel. They may however, send advance copy. Applications, which are not in the prescribed form or are not accompanied by attested copies of certificates, photographs and self-addressed envelope of the prescribed size are liable to be rejected.
Completed applications, should reach DEPUTY ESTABLISHMENT OFFICER (R-II), BHABHA ATOMIC RESEARCH CENTRE, TROMBAY MUMBAI-400 085 on or before March 04, 2013.
