CMAT 2014-2015

All India Council for Technical Education, a statutory body of the Government of India, located at 7th Floor, Chanderlok Building, Janpath, New Delhi-110 001, has notified the Second Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) for 2014-15.

AICTE conducts CMAT twice a year for facilitating institutions to select suitable students for admission to all management programmes approved by AICTE.

Candidates who have already appeared in the first test for 2014-15 can appear for the second test also. The better of two scores will be used for admission for 2014-15. Applicant should be Graduates in any discipline or final year students of Graduate Courses (10+2+3) whose result will be declared before commencement of admission for 2014.

Test Fee for General/OBC candidates for any test centre in India, is Rs.1200 + Bank charges as applicable. For SC/ST/PD category candidates, it is Rs.600 + Bank charges as applicable. Payment can be made by Net Banking /Credit / Debit Card, online through www.aicte-cmat.in. It can also be remitted by way of Cash at any branch of State Bank of India, using the challan generated online while registering.

Registration window will be open from 1.11.2013 to 2.1.2014 at www.aicte-cmat.in. Applicants will have the facility to take the Print out of Hall ticket from 5.2.2014. The Computer based test will be held between 20.2.2014 and 24.2.2014 in two slots, from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.

Choice of 3 dates and 3 cities of India can be given in the order of preference, while registering online. Allotment will be on first come first served. Actual allotment however will be subject to availability of the slots in a particular city.

Results will be declared on 14.3.2014. Candidates would be able to take the print out of score cards, from 14.3.2014 to 13.4.2014. The detailed merit list will be provided to the respective State Governments for allotting the students through central counseling or otherwise as per their notified admission procedure. In case there is no central counseling, scores awarded will be used for admission in the AICTE approved Institutes/University Departments.

CMAT will be of 3 hours duration without any break and will have 100 objective type questions from four areas. There will be 25 questions each with maximum of 100 marks from each of the four topics (i) Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation (ii) Logical Reasoning (iii) Language Comprehension and (iv) General Awareness. For each wrong answer given, 1 mark shall be deducted from the score.

At the test venue, the candidate will be seated at a desk with a computer terminal and he/she will be provided with a scratch paper for calculations. After the test, candidate must leave the scratch paper at the desk. Rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet, as nothing will be allowed inside the testing room.

There is no sectional cut off in the CMAT examination. All the candidates who appear in the test based on their aptitude towards the management education will be ranked in the order of their merit. The objective of the test is not to eliminate the candidates from the process of seeking admission in the AICTE approved management programmes, but to facilitate the institutions to select the suitable candidates as per their merit.

A Trial test will be made available at http://www.aicte-cmat.in/ in due course for the candidates to have a feel of the online test and navigation functionality. Candidates may go through them carefully to familiarize themselves with the screens, layout, and navigation.

For registering for the examination, applicant should have access to a Computer with good Internet connectivity so that there is no breakage of Internet during registration. All the documents related to the qualification should be available at the time of registering as the details therein are to be entered while registering. Applicant will have to upload his/her scanned photo while registering, and so, should keep ready a scanned clear photo taken on a  white background and with size 140 x 160 (60Kb).

Applicant will also be required to upload the scanned signature while registering. Applicant should keep ready, a scanned clear signature done on a white background and with size, 60 x 90 (30Kb). Applicant should also have a valid e-mail id which will be used for at least for the next 6 months.

All communication will be done on this e-mail id which will be entered while registering for CMAT exam. Applicant should also have a valid mobile number as all information via SMS will be sent to this number. If the payment is to be done online, applicant should have a valid Credit / Debit card. There should also be a printer connected to the system to print the 3 copies of a Challan in case one is planning to pay fee by cash, at the bank.

Registering for CMAT is a 3 Step process. In step 1, the applicant should read the Instructions and complete the Self Registration. For the first time, one has to enter as ‘NEW USER’. Here the applicant should read the instructions carefully, accept the declaration and proceed. After this, the Self Registration has to be done in which few basic details will have to be entered. This has to be verified before clicking on ‘SUBMIT’ button on this page. Once submitted, data entered on this page cannot be edited.

On submitting this page, a unique 6 digit password will be generated. This password will be shown on the computer screen and will be sent to the candidate via e-mail and SMS. For subsequent logins to the registration portal, applicant should proceed as an ‘EXISTING USER’ and login with the e-mail id and this unique 6 digit password. This completes the self registration.

Step 2 is the payment Process. Applicant can complete the payment either in the online mode or in the Cash Mode. If planning to have online payment, the applicant can select ‘ONLINE PAYMENT’ mode and then make the payment, using Credit card / Debit card / Net Banking. Once payment is successfully done, applicant will receive a confirmation e-mail and SMS. On receiving the successful payment confirmation, applicant can proceed with the remaining part of registration process.

Applicants can select the option to pay fee by CASH at any of the designated branch of SBI. Once this option is selected, applicant will see a CHALLAN on the screen with his/her details already filled in it. Applicant has to take 3 print outs of this CHALLAN, fill in the details wherever required in all the copies, and go to the nearest SBI bank with cash, on the next day of generation of Challan. If the Challan has been generated and copies printed on 4th November 2013, then payment can be made at a branch of SBI from 5th November, 2013 onwards.

The last date to pay CASH in bank is 3rd January, 2014 and registration can be completed by 5th January, 2014. On remitting cash, the bank will return a copy of CHALLAN with their stamp and a JOURNAL number written on it. Applicant should ensure that the JOURNAL number is written clearly and is visible before leaving the bank.

After depositing cash and receipt of acknowledgement CHALLAN, applicant needs to wait for 48 hours by which time, the payment will get updated in the registration portal. Applicant will receive an e-mail and SMS confirming that the payment data has got updated in the registration portal. Applicant should then re-login to the portal and proceed with the remaining part of registration process.

In Step 3, applicant has to fill the remaining part of the form. Once the applicant has filled the complete form, he/she may once again check the complete data entered by clicking on VIEW/MODIFY button. Clicking on VIEW/MODIFY button will allow the candidate to modify the data in case it is to be modified.

Once the applicant is sure that all the data entered is accurate, he/she will have to accept a declaration and click on ‘I AGREE’. The system will re-confirm to applicant for SUBMIT. Once confirmed, the form will get finally SUBMITTED and no change in the data is possible after this SUBMIT. Applicant will then see a message on the screen stating “Thank you for successfully registering for the AICTE CMAT February, 2014 exam. Applicant can click on PREVIEW button to view his/her filled form. Applicant may PRINT the filled form and keep a copy for future reference. This completes the registration process.

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) (Main)-2014


The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) (Main)-2014, to be conducted by the JEE Apex Board of the Central Board of Secondary Education, for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programmes in NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, participating State Government Institutions etc. will be held in the online and offline modes in April, 2014.

For admission to NITs, Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) like IIITs etc. and other participating Institutions, the merit/rank list will be prepared by giving 40pc weightage to the Boards marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination and 60pc weightage to JEE(Main) marks. The weightage to school board/equivalent examination marks shall be considered only after normalization.

The States of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Odisha have joined JEE (Main) system. Those seeking admission to the institutions in these states, which were earlier admitting based on their State Level Examination, should fill in the JEE (Main) -2014 application form online.

The JEE (Main) will also be the eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the IITs/ ISM Dhanbad. So those aspiring IITs/ISM have to appear for the JEE (Main) and qualify.

JEE (Main)-2014 will have two papers. Paper-1 is for admission to the B.E/B. Tech Programmes and Paper-2, for admissions to the B. Arch./B.Planning Programmes. Applicants may take Paper-1 or Paper-2 or both, depending upon the course(s) they are seeking admission and subject to the subject combination at the qualifying examination, required for each paper.

Paper 1, for admission to B.E/B. Tech will have objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics, with equal weightage to the three. This will be conducted in the Pen and Paper Based mode (Offline) as well as Computer Based mode (Online).

Paper 2 for B.Arch./B.Planning admissions (except at IITs) will have objective type questions from Mathematics in Part I and Aptitude Test in Part II. Part III is the Drawing Test with questions to test drawing aptitude of the candidate. This will be held only in the Pen and Paper Based mode.

The offline examination for Paper 1 (B.E/B. Tech) will be held from 9. 30 am to 12.30 pm (IST) on 6.4.2014. The offline examination for Paper 2 (B.Arch./B.Planning) will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm (IST) 6.4.2014.

The Online examination (Computer Based Examination) for Paper 1 (B. E./B. Tech) Only will be held on 9.4.2014, 11.4.2014, 12.4.2014 and 19.4.2014 in two shifts, with the first shift between 0930-1230 Hours (IST) and 2nd shift (if required) from 1400-1700 Hours(IST).

Eligibility: Those of the General category should have been born or after October 1, 1989. Those belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories, born or after October 1, 1984 are eligible to apply.

Only those who have passed their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2012 or 2013 or those who are appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2014 are eligible to appear in JEE (Main)-2014. Those who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2011 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2015 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main)- 2014. Those who appeared in class 12th/equivalent qualifying Examinations in 2011, did not pass in 2011, but passed in 2012 are also not eligible to appear in JEE (Main) 2014. The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at JEE (Main) is limited to 3.

Since the states of Maharashtra and Odisha have now joined JEE (Main) system from 2014, the age limit, for admission to institutions in these states which were earlier admitting candidates based on their state level examinations, will be as per their past practice only. The number of attempts in such cases will also remain same as per their past practice. This will however be obviously not applicable for admission to IITs/NITs/IIITs/CFTIs.

Examination Fees: The Fee will depend on the Centre chosen (within India or outside the country), the number of Papers applied (1 or 2), the mode of examination (online or offline), category of the student (General/SC/ST/OBC/PwD) and the gender status (Boy/Girl)

For Examination Centre Opted in India: Only One paper in the Offline Mode: General/OBC: Rs 1000/- (Boys) and Rs.500/- (Girls); SC/ST/PwD: Rs.500/- for Boys and Girls; Two papers in the Offline Mode:  General/OBC: Rs 1800/- (Boys) and Rs.900/- (Girls); SC/ST/PwD: Rs.900/- for Boys and Girls.

For Paper I in the online mode: General/OBC: Rs 600/- (Boys) and Rs.300/- (Girls); SC/ST/PwD: Rs.300/- for Boys and Girls; For Paper I in the online mode & Paper II in the offline mode: General/OBC: Rs 1400/- (Boys) and Rs.700/- (Girls), SC/ST/PwD: Rs.700/- for Boys and Girls.

For Examination Centre Opted in Foreign country: Only One paper in the Offline Mode: General/OBC: Rs 2500/- (Boys) and Rs.1250/- (Girls); SC/ST/PwD: Rs.1250/- for Boys and Girls; Two papers in the Offline Mode: General/OBC: Rs 3800/- (Boys) and Rs.1900/- (Girls); SC/ST/PwD: Rs.1900/- for Boys and Girls; For Paper I in the online mode: General/OBC: Rs 2500/- (Boys) and Rs.1250/- (Girls); SC/ST/PwD: Rs.1250/- for Boys and Girls; For Paper I in the online mode & Paper II in the offline mode: General/OBC: Rs 3800/- (Boys) and Rs.1900/- (Girls); SC/ST/PwD: Rs.1900/- for Boys and Girls

The fee can be remitted either by Debit/Credit Card or through e-Challan, generated after successful submission of online application form. In case the examination fee is paid through credit/debit cards, the candidates will need to pay an additional processing charge of 1.20% of the examination fee plus the service tax as applicable. The fee through e-Challan may be deposited in any branch of Syndicate Bank, Canara Bank or ICICI Bank.

Applications: Applications can be submitted only online only through JEE (Main)-2014 website http://jeemain.nic.in/jeemainapp/Welcome.aspx  from 15th November 2013 to 26th December 2013.  The applicant should furnish all the details and upload scanned image of his/her photograph and signature while filling up the ‘On-line’ Application.

Applicants are required to take a print out of the computer generated acknowledgement slip after successful submission of data and payment of fees and keep the same in safe custody for any future reference. Applicants are  not required to send any document to JEE (Main) Secretariat.

The eligibility criteria for JEE(Main) and JEE (Advanced) are different. Those desirous of applying should read the information bulletin to ensure their eligibility as per the criteria laid down for JEE (Main) as well as JEE (Advanced).

Facilitation Centres will function free of charge, across the country to help aspiring candidates in filling online application. The list of such institutes will be available on the JEE (Main) website and in JEE (Main)-2014 information bulletin.

Eligibility:
Candidates having Bachelors Degree of three years duration in any discipline from an institute recognized by UGC/AICTE are eligible to apply. Those completing their final examination by June 2014 can also apply.

Admission Procedure:
(i)  CAT 2013 scores will be used for short listing the candidates for group discussion/interview. A candidate therefore has to appear for CAT-WINDOW 2013 to be conducted by the IIMs.
(ii) IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the program
(iii) Candidate should indicate the CAT Registration No. and Test Centre Code in the prescribed application form.
(iv)  Reservation of seats will be provided to the SC/ST/OBC/PWD (PH), Wards of Defence Personnel as per the policy of the Govt. of India.

How to Apply:

The eligible candidates will have to appear in a written examination of 2.5 hours, to be held in the Department on 27/11/2013 (from 12 Noon). The syllabus of this examination is the UGC- NET(Paper II and III A) in Psychology and existing syllabus of M.A./M.Sc. in Applied Psychology, University of Calcutta.

The results of the written test will be published on 29th November, 2013. The successful candidates will be called for an interview on 02nd December, 2013. The candidates will be finally selected as Probationary Ph.D. student of this department on the basis of the evaluation in the interview.
