Admission Notice - M.Phil Course for the session of 2009 – 11

Applications are invited for admission to two year M.Phil Programme for the session of 2009 – 2011 in the subjects of Bengali, Sanskrit, Hindi, Pali, Commerce, History, Philosophy, South & South-East Asian Studies, Ancient Indian History & Culture, Education, Sociology and Women's Studies (Self-financed).

Eligibility:

Any candidate who has passed the M.A. /M.Sc. /M.Com or equivalent Examination of this University with 55% Marks in aggregate (SC/ST with 50% Marks) or with 60% Marks in aggregate of any other recognized University may be admitted to the appropriate M.Phil programme on the recommendation of the M.Phil Committee of the concerned department which will be determined by an admission test to be held by the department. The admission test will be organized once a year. The admission test will be followed by an interview to be conducted by the concerned department for all candidates who qualified in the admission test. In case of a candidate qualified in NET, SET or equivalent national level examination exemption will be granted for the Entrance.

Form:

Application forms except for Women's Studies are available at C.U. Sales Counter (College Street Campus) from 10.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. on all working days on payment of Rs.465/- for form plus Rs.35/- for copy of a Brochure.
Forms for Women's Studies are available in the concerned Department of C.U. of Alipure Campus, 1, Reformatory Street, Kolkata – 700 027 and are to be submitted thereon.
 

Forms for Education and Sociology will be submitted to the concerned department situated at Alipur Campus, University of Calcutta.

Submission of Forms: Completed application forms will be received by the office of the undersigned, College Street Campus, Asutosh Building, Ground Floor, Room No. 3G between 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. on all working days.

Reservation: Reservation for SC, ST and Physically Handicapped will be made as per University/Govt. Rules.

Course Fees: Rupees Four Thousand in cash to be paid by the selected candidates at the time of admission. Tuition fees for Women's Studies Rupees Six Thousand Six hundred per year are to paid by the selected candidates to the concerned office of the Department, C.U. For South & South-East Asian Studies, students of all subjects other than literature can apply but special consideration will be given to those who have passed their M.A. in South & South-East Asian Studies.

Ancient Indian History & Culture: Students with Master Degree in Ancient Indian History & Culture, Archaeology, Museology and History are eligible for apply.

M.Phil in Women's Studies: Candidates with Master Degree in any stream and other Post-Graduate Degrees or appearing in the final Post-Graduate Degree Examinations from recognized Universities are eligible to apply. Last Date of Receipt of Application Forms is February 26, 2010. Date & Time of Admission Test (Written): May 8, 2010

N.B.
Please visit University website www.caluniv.ac.in in respect of new regulations for the degree of Master of Philosophy (M.Phil), 2009 and details of the Notification. The applicants, who have applied before the new regulations came into being, if eligible, may also apply for admission to M.Phil course of studies under the new regulations. Willing and eligible candidates who have already applied in prescribed format can submit their prayer on plain paper.
