Applications in prescribed form are invited by Tezpur University, Napaam, Sonitpur, Assam-784 028 from candidates eligible for admission to the following programmes of studies for the session 2015-16:

Category B: Admission based on JEE (Main) All India Rank
Programmes:
B.Tech. in (i) Mechanical Engineering, (ii) Civil Engineering, (iii) Electronics and Communication Engineering, (iv) Computer Science and Engineering, (v) Food Engineering and Technology (vi) Electrical Engineering.

Candidates will be selected for admission on the basis of All India Rank in the JEE (Main) conducted by the CBSE on 04.04.2015 (Pen and paper based) and 10.04.2015 to 11.04.2015 (Computer based). For details please visit JEE website: www.jeemain.nic.in.
Approximately 60% of the seats will be filled in by the candidates of NE states. The candidates of NE states qualifying in the JEE (Main) should apply to this University for admission against seats reserved for NE domicile candidates for which counseling will be held at Tezpur University.  The remaining 40% of the seats will be filled in through the Central Counseling conducted by the CBSE. For this no separate application is required. 

Category C: Direct Admission:
Candidates from NE states securing any of the top 5 positions in the examinations conducted by the Higher Secondary Board/Council of the states with an aggregate of 85% or above marks will be directly admitted to the B. Tech. and with an aggregate of 80% or above marks will be admitted to the Integrated programmes( per programme not more than five candidates). Applicants of M. Tech. programmes with valid GATE score may apply for direct admission without the Entrance Examinations provided they meet the cut-off score.

Category D: Ph. D. programme:
Offering Departments : English and Foreign Languages, Cultural Studies, Sociology, Mass Communication and Journalism, Hindi, Chemical Sciences, Physics, Mathematical Sciences, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Environmental Science, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Engineering and Technology, Energy, and Civil Engineering. Candidates must have consistently good academic records. Admission will be on the basis of the performance in the written test and personal interview conducted by the concerned Departments. List of the candidates short listed for written test and personal interview will be displayed on the Tezpur University website. No call letter will be issued separately. Reservation and relaxation: As per the Govt. of India rules.

Self Supported Scheme : Tezpur University has a provision for admission under Self Supported Scheme (SSS). The waitlisted candidates shall be eligible for the admission under SSS with additional fees. However, the admission will be on merit basis.

How to apply:
The eligible candidates are required to apply online through the University website (www.tezu.ernet.in)  by paying application fee of Rs 250/- (for SC, ST and PWD categories ) and Rs 500/- ( for other categories). Bank charges will be extra. Payment of the fee may be made through Debit card or Credit card.  Admit cards for the Tezpur University Entrance Examinations will have to be down loaded by the candidates from the website ( for B.Tech and Ph.D. candidates admit cards will not be required).

The eligibility criteria are as follows:
PG Programmes – Graduation in any discipline {candidates appearing in final year may also apply}
UG Programmes –10+2 / Intermediate {candidates appearing in 10+2 may also apply}
Integrated Programme – 10+2 / Intermediate {candidates appearing in 10+2 may also apply}
Eligible candidates will have to undergo an All India Selection test (AIST) that consists of Online test (Math, English, reasoning/General science & GK)
Candidates who have attempted CAT/MAT/XAT are eligible for exemption from appearing in the online test of FDDI.
Candidates appearing for CAT/MAT/XAT will also have the option to appear for FDDI online test. In that case the best of two exams i.e. CAT/MAT/XAT or FDDI written exam will be considered for the merit of selection.
The common merit list of online test will be prepared for candidates appeared in the written test of FDDI and applied under CAT & MAT category. Accordingly, shortlisted candidates will be called for Counseling.

Procedure to be followed
Step 1: Purchase of Admission Form. (Cost of Prospectus along with the admission form is Rs 500/-)
Step 2: Filling up the application form
Step 3: Last date for submission of admission form is 15th May, 2015.

Date of Entrance exam – 12th, 13th & 14th June, 2015 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

Result Declaration – 30th June, 2015

Date of Counseling –

         UG Candidates – 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th July, 2015

 How to Apply
Candidate is required to fill the Application Form attached with the prospectus as per the instruction mentioned here in and send the duly filled in form alongwith the requisite documents to FDDI, Noida. Duly Filled application form along with requisite documents should be sent to Admisison Cell, FDDI. The important instructions for filling the form are given below.
A candidate can apply for more than one programme in a single application form. For applying in multiple programmes candidates have to fill the programme code in accordance to their preference of programme as given in the Application Form.

Applicants of PG programmes can apply for other PG programmes only, in the same form.
Applicants of UG programmes can apply for other UG programmes only, in the same form.
If a candidate wish to apply for both UG & PG programmes he / she has to fill two separate application forms.

Applicant can choose Date of his/her choice from the dates given in the Application form for appearing in AIST. Maximum efforts will be made to accommodate on the given date and centre on first come first serve basis. However due to infrastructure constraints a candidate may sometimes be asked to appear on other dates /centre also.
Candidates applying under the reserved category (SC/ST/OBC/PH/Disabled) must attach an attested copy of documentary proof signed by the competent authority as admissible, along with the duly filled up Application Form.
Candidates applying under exemption for written exam must attach photocopy of their relevant score card or admit card along with the duly filled up Application Form.
Candidates is required to paste one recent passport size coloured photograph in the specified area of the form. The photograph should be pasted properly. A form without the same shall be rejected.
Candidates is required to fill up the personal details given in the Admit Card and sent back along with the duly filled up form. The candidates are also required to send one self-addressed envelope (Size Approx 9.5 X 4.5 inches) along with the Application Form.
The candidates are required to sign properly & carefully (without any overwriting/cut) in the first column provided in the Admit Card indicated as “signature of candidate (at the time of filling up the form)”. In case of mismatching of the signature you will not be allowed to appear for the test.

VESSEL NAVIGATOR COURSE (VNC) / MARINE FITTER COURSE (MFC)  ADMISSION NOTIFICATION 2015

Applications are invited for admission to VESSEL NAVIGATOR / MARINE FITTER COURSE at Central Institute of Fisheries, Nautical & Engineering Training (CIFNET), Kochi / Chennai / Visakhapatnam.


Common Entrance Examination for admission to VNC/MFC
Date & Time of Entrance Exam. : 20th June, 2015(Saturday) at 1000 hrs.

The Institute has been conducting two trade courses viz. Vessel Navigator & Marine Fitter Course of 2 years duration, which is formulated under Craftman Training scheme of NCVT, New Delhi since 2006. These two trades are started with the view of producing practical Trades man in the Marine Sector and manpower for the Deck side and Engine side of the fishing vessel The successful candidates, after obtaining requisite sea service will become competent to appear the respective competency examinations conducted by the Mercantile Marine Department, Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of India. In addition, the Institute is also conducting ancillary courses viz. Shore Mechanic Course (12 months), Advanced Diploma in Fishing Gear Technology (12 months) and Fishery Teacher Training Course (6 months) for the benefit of personnel who are managing the shore establishments of the Fisheries Organisations.

Training for foreign nationals
The Institute also arranges Special training programmes for Foreign Nationals from countries like Nigeria, Zambia, Tanzania, Ghana, PDR Yemen, Myanmar, Laos, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives, Philippines,Oman etc. under various schemes like FAO Fellowship, CFTC, SCAAP, ESCAP, ITEC, Colombo Plan etc. Thus over the years the Institute came out as a nodal Institution in the South-east Asia for training the personnel of the fishing fleet and offering Special training in Nautical, Fisheries and Engineering disciplines.

Vessel Navigator Course (VNC) and Marine Fitter Course (MFC)
The Vessel Navigator and Marine Fitter courses are two new trade courses started by NCVT under Craftsman Training Scheme by DGET, Ministry of Labour, New Delhi. These two courses are started with a view of producing practical tradesman in the Marine sector and manpower for the deck side and engine side of the fishing vessels. These courses are of two years duration.

CIFNET has been approved by DGET, Ministry of Labour for starting of the trades. These courses were started for the first time in India in CIFNET The courses are of residential nature. On successful completion of the above courses they will be gaining Academic and practical experience in the specialized subjects like Navigation, Marine Engineering so that they will be able to get wider opening at the shore establishments, fishing vessels, marine crafts etc.

Mode of study
Theory:- The theory papers are handled by well experienced faculties of the Institute who have proven practical track records in their field of study. The classes are handled with modern teaching aids like Multi-media, Internet, Overhead projectors, live models etc.
Practical:- The curriculum gives special emphasis on practical aspects in Nautical science, Fishery Biology, Fishing Craft Technology, Fishing Gear etc. Practical exposures are given to the students in the well established laboratories.

On-board training:- The onboard practical training is an opportunity to students to get acquainted with the operation and maintenance of the vessel which is the unique nature of this course.

Method of Evaluation
Observation of progress record : I , II ,III&IV Internal/ Model examinations
Semester Examinations : All India Trade Test Semester Examinations will be conducted by the NCVT. Certificate to be awarded : After the successful completion of the course Certificate will be awarded by NCVT.

* The candidates who do not pass in atleast one subject/paper of the I Terminal examination held at the end of first year, will not be eligible to get the stipend during second year till completion of training..

Mode of selection
Through Entrance Examination which will be conducted by CIFNET at Kochi, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Kolkatta, Delhi, Bhubaneswar and Mumbai.

Eligibility Criteria:
Entry Qualification:  Pass in 10th Standard or equivalent examination with 50% marks in Maths and Science. Attested copy of mark list of 10th Std. or equivalent examination should be enclosed with application even if candidate possesses higher qualification. The candidates who are appearing 10th examination during March 2015 are also eligible to apply. However the selection will be made only through marks obtained in 10th and entrance examination.

Age limit : 16 to 20 years as on 1st August, 2015. Upper age limit relaxable to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates by 5 years. Attested copy of Age/Date of birth certificate is to be enclosed with the application. SC/ST candidates who claim relaxation of age should submit along with the application, attested copy of community certificate from REVENUE Authorities specifying that they belong to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe, failing which age relaxation will not be granted. There is no age limit when employed candidates.

Physical Fitness : Candidates should be physically fit for strenuous work on board fishing vessels.

Vision : In the case of Vessel Navigator Course, the candidates should pass the prescribed eye test conducted by Approved Doctors of DG Shipping, before admission.

Stipend : Rs.1500/- per month (for open selection candidates only) on submission of Surety Bond for Rs.20,000/- at the time of admission.

Medium of instruction : English Uniform : Uniform for theoretical and practical classes are compulsory. All trainees are directed to purchase the uniforms after joining the institute to avoid colour shade differences.

Hostel Facilities
The course is residential. The students will be provided Hostel facility within the campus.

Entrance Examination
The Entrance Examination will be conducted in English at Kochi/ Chennai/ Visakhapatnam/ kolkatta/ Delhi/ Bhubaneswar/ Mumbai from 10.00 to 12.00hrs. on 20.06.2015 (tentative date). All eligible candidates who submit proper applications in time will be called for Entrance Examination. If eligible candidates do not get the Hall tickets by 14.06.2015 they may contact CIFNET office at Kochi/Chennai/Visakhapatnam and also refer institutes web site to get the latest information. Entrance examination will be of Objective type, which covers the topics of Maths, science subjects and English language How to apply The filled applications (in the prescribed forms) along with the attested copies of certificates in respect of qualification, including mark list of SSLC / 10th Standard Examination, Age, Experience (if any) and Community Certificate (in the case of SC/ST Candidates) and two self addressed (Unstamped) envelopes of size 25cms x 11cms. Applications which are received late/incomplete/without age certificate/SSLC Mark List/Community Certificate (for SC/ST only)/not in the prescribed forms, will not be considered.

Guidelines for filling up the Application form
1. Illegible/wrong/filling with over writing, incomplete filling up will lead to Rejection of the application for which the applicant alone shall be responsible.
2. Information provided in the forms will be treated as final and no request for correction, alteration, addition etc. will be entertained.
3. Fill up only in English using the Capital letters
4. Write only one character in one box
5. Leave one box blank between words.
6. Use a coma to separate letters or group of words
7. Use only Black Ball point pen
