Applications on prescribed forms are invited by Assam University for admission to the Integrated Pre-PhD Course work for registration to MPhil / PhD programme (on successful completion of Course work) and for admission to DLitt and DSc programme of study for the academic session 2012 to be offered by the following departments:

Eligibility Criteria: (a) Integrated Pre PhD Course
(i) Candidates securing 55% marks or above or equivalent grade in Master Degree Examination of a recognized University are only eligible to apply for admission to One semester Integrated Pre PhD Course work for registration to MPhil / PhD programme of the University. Relaxation of marks for SC / ST categories shall be as per Govt. of India rules
(ii) Candidates with MPhil Degree from any recognized University with explicit proof of qualifying in the course work of minimum one semester duration can also apply for provisional registration to PhD programme directly without prosecuting fresh course work if selected in the Admission Test (Personal Interview Only). However, such candidate must have passed at least one paper on Research Methodology and obtained at least 55 marks in each paper separately or B grade in aggregate.

Eligibility Criteria : (b) DLitt / DSc Course
A candidate seeking admission to DSc / DLitt must have PhD or an equivalent degree from Assam University or from any other recognized Indian University or a foreign university in the concerned discipline and must be a serving or retired teacher in the University system. He / She must have served as a teacher for a minimum period of 5 years and have at least 5 years of research experience after PhD

Applying procedure:
Admission forms may be downloaded from the website http://www.aus.ac.in or prospectus 2012 may be collected from Cash Counter of Assam University on all working days from 23 December 2011 to 06 January 2012 (upto 2 pm) on payment of Rs. 500-00. A demand draft of Rs. 200.00 drawn in favour of Finance Officer, Assam University, Silchar payable at SBI, NIT Branch, Silchar or UCO Bank, AUS Branch, must be submitted alongwith the application form as application fee. However, SC / ST candidates need not pay application fee.

The last date of submission of duly filled in Admission form to the respective departments is 06 January 2012.

Reservation of seats for admission in respect of SC / ST / OBC / PWD candidates will be made as per GOI rules. Any other information regarding admission to IPP course may be inquired from the respective department or Shri Partha Sarathi Das, Cell i/c, Research, Fellowship & Students’ Welfare Cell, Assam University, Silchar.

The date of Written Test & Personal Interview will be held on 16th January 2012.
Last date of admission will be 19 January 2012 and the classes will start from 20 January 2012.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Candidates may collect the Application Form for the course(s) on payment of 500.00 (for General and OBC students) and 400.00 (for SC/ST students) from the Academic Section, Assam University Silchar-788011 and office of Diphu Campus at Karbi Anglong, Diphu, Assam: 782462 on working days upto 3 pm.

The form may also be downloaded from University website http://www.aus.ac.in.
Filled in forms are required to be submitted along with an application fee of 500.00 (for General and OBC students) and 400.00 (for SC/ST students) through D.D. / Banker Cheque in favour of Finance Officer, Assam University, Silchar payable at Silchar.

The admission forms will be available for sale till 20th July 2011 at the above mentioned places. Separate application should be submitted for each course.

Candidates in person may submit their duly filled in application form in boxes placed at the Academic Section, Raja Rammohan Roy Administrative Building Assam University, Silchar (for the courses of Silchar Campus) and at the Administrative Office of Diphu Campus (for the course of Diphu Campus) upto 20th July 2011.

Candidates seeking admission in course available at Diphu Campus should submit their Application at Diphu Campus office only.

Applicants (for the courses of Silchar Campus) may send their applications by post, addressed to Deputy Registrar (Academic), Assam University, Silchar 788011 within the last date of receipt of admission form (20th July 2011).

The envelope should be superscribed as APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION to __________________ course.
