FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
The Chief Minister's Fellowship Program has been charted out to harness youth energy, promote social service and elevate the future development of our country. The Government of Gujarat is a proven leader in economic growth, development of agriculture, innovation in scheme design and use of advanced technology in governance. This high performance will be extended to the Fellowship Program to inspire the best young achievers to advance as managers of excellence. This program is a chance for the youth to experience Government functioning first hand and immerse themselves in working for a better society.

The Fellowship Program will be directed at addressing areas of highest priority for the State Government, especially improving the Human Development Index of the State. Creative and innovative thinking from the youth is required to address issues like: raising the quality of education, improving child nutrition, reducing maternal mortality and strengthening progress in rural areas through mitigation of poverty and creating livelihood opportunities. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference to the lives of the people and transform society.

We aim to empower managers with this understanding to address the increasing complexity of the world's economy, society and environment; managers who can make effective decisions based in any sector. The Fellowship Program will lay the foundations that bring youth who have distinguished themselves in their field of work to come together and create visionaries with statesmanship like qualities to create a better future.


SELECTION PROCESS
To harness youth energy, promote social service and elevate the future development of our county. A chance to experience Government functioning first-hand and to make an impact on people’s lives.

Selection as a fellow under the Chief Minister's Fellowship Program is based on a combination of the following criteria:
Strong academic achievement
Track record of remarkable professional achievement in the applicant's career
Demonstrated commitment to social / public service
Strength of character, positive attitude and the ability to work with others
An online application system has been designed to ensure candidates are able to submit their interest towards the program and then can be considered for the program. Those interested in applying for the Fellowship Program are requested to submit information with their CV/Resume through an online Application Form . Once the Application Form has been submitted, candidates will be notified of receipt by an email.
Short-listed candidates may be called for a personal interview or for an interview through video-conferencing or phone. If candidates are considered to be suitable after the initial interview, they will be asked to appear for a final interview. Final selection will be confirmed only after the short-listed candidates have gone through a comprehensive background investigation.


SELECTION OF SECOND BATCH
Applications to be considered for the Second Batch of Fellows should be submitted before the deadline of 31st August 2011.
Plans are being made for the Second Batch of Fellows to begin the Fellowship Program on the 2nd October 2011.

MBBS NRI Admissions 2011-2012

Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER), Gujarat, has invited applications for admission to NRI seats of M.B.B.S course in 2011-12.

ELIGIBILITY:
The students to be admitted under NRI quota is as under—
1a) The students who are Non-Resident Indians or the student whose parents are Non-Resident Indians or in the absence of parents, their legally appointed guardians, who are Non-Resident Indians.

1b) Students who are dependents of Non-Resident Indians for the educational purpose and shall have necessary proof/evidence in support of his/her dependent.

2) The student must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology & English individually and must have obtained minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination as prescribed by the MCI/VNSGU/Government of Gujarat.

3a) The NRI student passing 12th (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English must have Equivalent Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities

3b) In case of (1) ‘b’ category (dependent) he/she must have passed qualifying examination as under—
“Higher Secondary examination (HSCE) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and any other elective subjects with English as prescribed by MCI”

4) The student shall have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of year of the admission (31.12.2011). In case of under age students, admission shall be granted as per the merit at the time of counselling but his / her academic term shall start from
the day when he / she completes 17 years of age and his / her term shall commences after completion of eligible the age.

HOW TO APPLY:
1) Students shall download the application form from websites: http://smimersuratmunicipal.gov.in and www.suratmunicipal.gov.in and send the application form duly filled, to The Dean, Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education & Research (SMIMER), Opposite Bombay Market, Umarwada, Surat-395 010, Gujarat, along with the application and processing fee of Rs. 2000/-+ 8000/- = 10,000/- (Rs. Ten thousand only) by cash/DD. In case of demand draft it shall be in favour of “Commissioner, Surat Municipal Corporation” payable at Surat on or before 27.06.2011.

In case of Non Resident Indian Students (passed qualifying examination outside India)) all certificates must be duly attested and stamped by the Indian Embassy of the concerned country.


Application forms are to be attached with the Photocopies, duly attested, of the following documents:

1) School Leaving Certificate of student establishing that the student has completed 17 years as on 31-12-2011(Those who are born before 01.01.1995)
2) HSCE or equivalent examination marks-sheet (In case of bonafide NRI, the grading should be converted to the equivalent marks as per mark sheet of Gujarat Higher Secondary School Examination from the parent school / college itself) and the certificates of passing and attempt.
3) Provisional eligibility certificate from Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (where applicable).
4) Equivalence Certificate from Association of Indian Universities (Where applicable)
5) Affidavit given by student/parent/guardian stating his/her status as N.R.I. under Income Tax Act-1961.
6) Any evidence like Residential proof, copy of citizenship, salary certificate or certificate from the employer etc to establish the present status as NRI on
whom the student is dependent for educational purpose
7) Affidavit given by concerned NRI proposing to undertake responsibility for paying tuition fees for the medical education of student.
8) Affidavit (on non judicial stamp paper of Rs. 100, attested before executive magistrate or government notary) given by either of parents/grandparents of student or student if he/she is major regarding relationship with the NRI and in what manner the student claims to be dependent on NRI, who is to take responsibility for paying tuition fees of student and they do not have economic means to provide the necessary fees and other expenditure for the course.
9) Affidavit by the supporting NRI/candidate’s parent that NRI has been supporting the said dependent applicant in the past for educational and related requirements with an undertaking to the institute to submit the supportive documents/materials in above regard as and when required.
10) Copy of Passport with all pages of concerned NRI proposing to undertake responsibility for paying tuition fees of student.
11) Attested copy of the nationality and citizenship of parents/ Guardian.
12) Medical certificate of fitness as per requirement of the Council.
13) Indemnity Bond by parent/ Guardian as applicable.
14) Self-addressed stamped two envelopes.
