Post-Doctoral Fellowship

Divecha Center for Climate Change, (http://www.dccc.iisc.ernet.in/)  Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore has invited applications for Post-Doctoral Fellows (two number) to carry out high quality research in the broad areas of Hydrology and Water Resources.

The applicant should have preferably obtained the PhD degree in related areas at the time of application. However, those who have submitted the PhD thesis and are expecting to obtain the PhD degree within the next about six months may also apply. Applicants with post-doctoral research experience in related areas will be preferred. A basic degree in Engineering is desirable.

The fellowship is normally Rs. 30,000 per month, but candidates with exceptional credentials may be considered for higher fellowship of upto a maximum of Rs. 50,000 per month. On-campus accommodation is generally not available for the post-doctoral fellows. The fellowship is initially for a period of one year and is extendable depending on the performance of the candidate.

Eligibility:
Candidates who have completed their II PUC / 12th Standard in 2014 and those who are expecting to complete their II PUC / 12th Standard  in 2015 are eligible to apply.  The candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects during their II PUC / 12th Standard. ELIGIBILITY:
Candidates possessing a minimum of first class in Bachelor?s degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent degree with a valid GATE/CAT/GMAT scores are eligible to apply.

Selection is based on a group discussion  and interview subsequent to short-listing based on valid GATE / CAT / GMAT scores.

ELIGIBILITY:
 Candidates possessing a minimum of first class in B Sc or equivalent degree in Physical, Mathematical, Chemical, Biological Sciences (including Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Veterinary  and Agricultural Sciences) are eligible to apply to an appropriate disciplines.

BE / B Tech degree holders who qualify in Mathematics/Mathematical Statistics paper in JAM are eligible to apply only to Mathematical Sciences discipline.

The short-listing of candidates for interview for (1), (3), and (4) is based on the performance in JAM 2015 and for (2) selection is based on performance in JAM only.

Those candidates who qualify in JAM and interested to apply for the Ph D (Integrated) programme at the Institute must give IISc as one of the preference while applying online through JAM portal after the JAM results.

(iv)  EXTERNAL REGISTRATION PROGRAMMES (ERP):
ERP is offered for working professionals from (1) R&D Organizations / Industries  and (2) Faculty members from Engineering, Agricultural, Pharmaceutical, Veterinary, Medical Colleges/ Universities, recognized  by the appropriate government agencies. The candidates must be officially sponsored by their employing organization.

ELIGIBILITY:
Qualifications remain the same as for the regular candidates. Further, the candidate should have two years of full time employment service in the present organization

Selection will be based on candidate's performance in the interview to be conducted at IISc.

We are very happy to report that 84 talented students who joined the inaugural B.S. Programme on August 1, 2011 have just completed their first semester of study. We are now set to announce the process for admission of the second batch of students who would be commencing their study on August 1, 2012. The application process for this batch would be completely online and would be available from February 1, 2012 until April 30, 2012.

Candidates who have completed their II PUC / 12th Standard or equivalent in 2011 and those who are expecting to complete it in 2012 are eligible to apply. A common qualifying test for admissions to the Ph.D. Programmes in Physics in the below listed research institutions in India and Theoretical Computer Science in some of them. Qualifying in JEST does not entitle an applicant to get a Research Fellowship. Minimum Qualifications and Selection Procedures

Ph.D. Programme
Physics: M.Sc. in Physics or M.Sc. / M.E. / M.Tech. in related disciplines. Candidates with M.Sc. in Mathematics / Applied Physics / Applied Mathematics / Optics and Photonics / Instrumentation / Electronics will also be considered at IIA. Graduates with a B.E. or B.Tech. will also be considered at IISc, IMSc, IUCAA, JNCASR, NCRA-TIFR, RRI, IISER Mohali, IISER Pune, SNBNCBS and NISER.

BE/BTech/BCA/BSc students can also apply for the integrated MSc-PhD programme, see below. In addition, talented final year B.Sc. and first year M.Sc. (in Physics / Electronics / Astronomy / Applied Mathematics) students may also apply to be pre-selected for research scholarship at IUCAA. Similar pre-selection is open at SNBNCBS for candidates who also have specialization in Bio-Physics, Optics and Opto-Electronics. Tech. degree will also be considered for admission to M.Sc. (Research) programme in Physics and Theoretical Computer Science, as part of an integrated Ph.D. programme. Although ON-LINE applications are preferred, for those who have difficulty in accessing internet, hard copy of the application form can be requested by writing to JEST-2012, Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore-560012. Email applications and photocopies of printed applications will not be accepted. Details regarding the ongoing programmes at different institutions are available at JEST-2012 website. Important change for JEST-2012: Application Fee of Rs. 100 (Rs. 50 for SC/ST) is payable.

Website opening and on-line submission of applications will be enabled at http://www.jest.org.in from November 14, 2011.

Request for printed application forms should reach IISc by December 5, 2011.
Last date for receipt of the filled applications, and ON-LINE submission of applications, is December 15, 2011.

JEST - 2012 (written test) will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2012, from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. Candidates seeking admission to any of the institutes for a Ph. D. Programme in Physics / Theoretical Computer Science may appear for JEST (written test in Physics or Theoretical Computer Science as applicable) at the test center chosen by the candidate.
