National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD) is a premier national center of excellence in rural development. It builds capacities of the rural development functionaries, elected representatives, academicians and young students through inter-related activities of teaching, training, research, action research and consultancy. The NIRD announces its eighth fully residential One-year ‘Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development Management (PGDRDM)’ with an aim to create a committed and competent cadre of Rural Development professionals in the country. The programme seeks to impart management techniques that will enhance the understanding of the paradigm and practice of rural development.

ELIGIBILITY: Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University. Students who are in the final year and expect to complete all the requirements of graduation before 1st August, 2014, may also apply.

SELECTION PROCESS: Selection of candidates will be made through a process of All-India Entrance Test which will test the verbal, quantitative and analytical competencies of the students including English Language. Group Discussion and Personal Interviews will be conducted for the short-listed candidates.

ENTRANCE TEST: The Entrance Test will be conducted on 01.06.2014 at the following centres: Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Dimapur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, New Delhi, Patna, Pune and Thiruvanantapuram. However, the NIRD reserves the right to
cancel any of the centres or add new centres for any administrative reasons and assign any other centre to the applicants.

TOTAL NO. OF SEATS: 50 (may undergo some change depending upon the availability of infrastructure. Of these, up to 10 seats may be allotted to the International in-service candidates).

PROGRAMME DURATION:
August, 2014 to July, 2015 (One year)

COURSE FEE: For Open / OBC Category `1.60 Lakhs (excluding boarding and lodging) For SC/ST/PWD category `1.40 Lakhs (excluding boarding and lodging)

Board and Lodging: The annual board and lodging expenses will be approximately `1,00,000. Accommodation will be given to the students in the NIRD Hostel.

Caution Deposit: A refundable Caution Deposit of `10,000 is to be paid along with the First Trimester Fee.

Seat Registration Fee: Upon selection, a non-refundable Seat Registration fee of `30,000 should be paid by the Indian students. This amount will be adjusted against the first trimester fee.

SCHOLARSHIPS:
1. The SC, ST and PWD Students will be eligible for NIRD’s Scholarship based on their performance.
2. The North Eastern Council, Shillong, will be approached for giving fellowships to economically backward students of North Eastern states.

RESERVATION: Reservations for the students of the SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer) and Persons with Disability (PWD) will be made as per Government of India’s policies.

PLACEMENT: NIRD will endeavour to make placements on successful completion of the PGDRDM, but does not guarantee. However, all the students of the previous Batches of the PGDRDM have been placed. The same trend is expected to continue.

HOW TO APPLY: Application form to be filled through online from our website (www.nird.org.in/pgdrdm).   The applications sent by post will also be accepted through downloadable form available in our website. The filled in online (Hard copy) /downloaded application form should be submitted along with the application fee of ` 500 (`300/- for SC/ST and PWD candidates) through an Account Payee Demand Draft drawn in favour of NIRD - PGDRDM, payable at Hyderabad. The filled in application form should be sent to the Coordinator (Admissions), Centre for Post Graduate Studies (CPGS), National Institute of Rural Development, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad-500030 (A.P), India, so as to reach on or before 24.05.2014. Last date for receipt of applications from the students of North Eastern States, Jammu & Kashmir, Andaman & Nicobar Island and Lakshadweep is 24.05.2014. Applications received after the cut-off date shall be rejected. NIRD reserves the right to make changes to the Diploma Programme, its design/content and the process of selection, depending upon the exigencies without assigning any reasons whatsoever.

ADMISSION NOTIFICATION

for Post Graduate Diploma in sustainable Rural Development (PGDSRD) fifth Batch (2014-2015)
and
Post Graduate Diploma in Tribal Development Management (PGDTDM) second Batch (2014-2015) in Distance Mode
(Recognized by University Grants Commission, Government of India)

Applications from aspiring candidates are invited for admission into Fifth Batch of PGDSRD Programme and Second Batch of PGDTDM commencing from 1st January 2014. Candidates having a Graduate Degree in any discipline from a University recognised by UGC are eligible for Admission. The admission of candidates in the above two Programmes will be done twice in a year (Janu­ary and July).

For the Academic Year which starts from January, 2014 the admission process will be completed by December, 2013. The candidates who are admitted in the month of January will have to complete the Programme by December. For those admitted in Second Semester second Academic Year will be from July, 2014 to June, 2015. The candidates who are admitted in the month of July will have to complete the Programme by June in the subsequent year.
