Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS), Nepal was established in 1994. The institute is a result of collaboration between Manipal Group and the Government of Nepal. It is affiliated to the Kathmandu University and is recognized across the world, for its high standards of excellence. MCOMS is the preffered institute for students across the globe.

MCOMS has been accorded recognition by the Medical Councils of Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Mauritius, besides the California Medical Boards & New York State Medical Board. The college is listed in the 7th edition of the WHO’s world directory of accredited medical schools and the International Medical Education Directory of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) which holds the United States Medical Licensing Exam. The college is is also recognized by the British Columbia Student Assistance Program (BCSAP), Canada.

MCOMS has a multi cultural student base with students hailing from India, SriLanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Singapore, Middle East, Kenya, Australia, New Zealand, United States & Canada.

Admissions are now open for MBBS Program.

Nepalese Students

Nepalese Fee Paying Students
Admissions for fee paying Nepalese students are through Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel. Kathmandu University (KU) holds a written medical entrance test (KUMET) for all Nepali students wanting to enroll in the MBBS Degree program. (KU calls for applications in July each year. The advertisements appear in prominent National Dailies) Successful candidates are put on 2 merit lists – A & B. MCOMS invites the 'A' list candidates for an interview, after which another merit list is drawn up. Admissions are based on this MCOMS merit list.

Nepalese Scholarship Students
30 Nepalese students are sponsored each year by MCOMS (20% of total seats). The Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal selects these students through an entrance test. Applications are invited through advertisements in national Dailies.

No tuition fees are charged from Scholarship students. They pay hostel and mess charges, if they utilize these services.


Nepalese Nationals can only be admitted through KUMET or the Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal.


Indian Students
Admissions for the MBBS degree program commencing in February 2009 are now open. Classes for the current batch begins from 2nd week of February, 2009.

Eligibility Requirement for Indian Students
At least pass marks in English (E); 50% in Physics (P), Chemistry(C) and Biology (B) put together (PCB & PCBE) and a minimum aggregate of 50% marks at the 10+2 or equivalent examination.

He/ she should have completed 17 years of age at the time of start of classes. There is no upper age limit.

If a student has a compartment in any subject, the marks that he/ she obtained in the pass attempt are considered for calculating eligibility. These eligibility requirements take care of the Medical Council of India requirements also. There is no entrance Examination.

Processing of Application: The filled application forms are processed for adequacy and minimum eligibility requirements.

Merit List: A merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

Provisional Admission: Provisional admission letters are issued based on merit. This letter will state when the first year’s tuition fee should be paid.

Confirmed Admission: A letter of confirmed admission is sent when the first year tuition fee is paid.
Kindly send the completed application along with application fee of INRs750/-. The fees can be paid via Demand Draft drawn in favour of The Manipal Education & Medical Group (Nepal) Ltd. The DD can be from any bank. The DD must be payable at Kathmandu or Kolkata. State bank of India DD would be preferable as there is a branch both in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Please write your name behind the Demand Draft and send it by courier.

For faster communication students may fax or courier photocopies of their class 10 and 12 mark sheets. But please do not send scanned copies by email. Please write your postal address, email address/ phone/ fax numbers on the admission application. At the time of joining the student must present, the original mark sheets and pass certificates of the qualifying board examinations - Class XII & X/ 'A' & 'O' levels, proof of birth, medical fitness certificate, character certificate, migration certificate (Indian and Nepalese students only) and 12 passport size photographs. (It is best to keep the negative of the passport size photograph as it is needed several times during the course). Admission is confirmed only after scrutiny of the original certificates and receipt of all fees.

The college working hours are from 9AM to 5PM. Saturday is the weekly day off all over Nepal. Sundays are working days. Should you have further queries, kindly contact at the following address and if possible visit the college on any working day. We do not function through agents.

Eligibility Requirements:
A minimum of 2 credit passes and 1 ordinary pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) or 50% marks in PCB/ PCBE, and overall aggregate at the ‘A’ level or equivalent examination. (Grades & Marks Equivalence given at the end)
He or she should have at least a credit pass in English at the ‘O’ level.
He/ she should have completed 17 years of age at the time of start of classes. There is no upper age limit.
If there are 4 subjects - Physics, Chemistry, Zoology and Botany/ Maths, then a minimum of 2 credit passes and 2 ordinary passes are required.
SAT/ TOEFL is not required. If a candidate has appeared for SAT exam, enclose a copy of SAT score sheet (SAT 1 & SAT 2: Physics, Chemistry & Biology).
There is no entrance Examination.

For students, who have submitted the forecast/predicted results or who anticipate receiving final results close to the admission date, letters of provisional admission can be sent earlier. This letter will state when the first year tuition fee should be paid.

Confirmed Admission: A letter of confirmed admission is sent when the first year tuition fee is paid. This letter may be used to apply for a student visa.
Please send in your completed application form along with copies of the transcripts and a DD for US$ 100/- (drawn in favour of the Manipal Education and Medical Group Nepal Ltd. payable at Kolkata / Kathmandu).

Candidates are advised to send the applications in Courier (First Flight/ DTDC/ DHL/ FedEx/ TNT etc) as postal services in Nepal are not reliable. On receipt of the application form, college will dispatch the brochure to the candidates via courier and therefore candidate must provide their complete postal address along with telephone numbers in the application form.
