Manipal University has invited applications for admission to the Under Graduate Medical/Engineering/Pharmacy Courses.

The Courses offered are
(i)Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS): 4 1/2 years plus 1 year compulsory rotating internship
(ii)Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS): 5 years
(iii)Bachelor of Engineering (BE): 4 years
(iv)Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch): 5 years
(v)Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm): 4 years
(vi)Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD): 5 years plus 1 year internship.

Eligibility: Applicant should be an Indian National. Only those whose date of birth falls on or before 31.12.94 are eligible to apply for MBBS/BDS/ BPharm/PharmD courses.

MBBS/BDS: Applicant should have a Pass in 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with minimum 55% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together.

BE: Applicant should have a Pass in 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects with Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology as optional subjects with minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the third optional subject.

B.Arch: A pass in 10+2 or three year Diploma recognized by the Central/State Government or equivalent qualification from any Board. Candidate should also heave secured 50% marks in Mathematics and English taken together and 40% in National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by the Council of Architecture.

BPharm: Pass in 10+2 Examination with Physics, Chemistry and English with Mathematics/Biotechnology/Computer Science/Biology as optional subjects. Those who have passed 10+2 from National Open School are not eligible for admission to B.Pharm Course. 

PharmD: Pass in 10+2 Examination with Physics, Chemistry and English with Mathematics/Biology as optional subjects/DPharm or any other equivalent qualification approved by Pharmacy Council of India. Those who have passed 10+2 from National Open School are not eligible for admission to B.Pharm Course. 

Selection Procedure: For Admission to the MBBS/BDS/BE/ BPharm/PharmD courses, admission will be based on the rank in the All India Manipal University Online Entrance Test 2011 as applicable for the courses concerned. Only those candidates who get 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology together in the All India Manipal University Online Entrance Test 2011 will be considered for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses.

For B.Arch, admissions will be based on the marks in the qualifying Examination and the NATA conducted by the Council of Architecture.

Manipal University Online Entrance Test 2011 (MU-OET 2011): This is a computer based online entrance test which will be held between 1.4.2011 and 22.5.2011 at Ahemdabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi,  Ernakulum, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Kota, Lucknow, Mangalore, Manipal, Mumbai, Noida, Patna, Port Blair, Pune, Ranchi, Varanasi and Vijayawada. Candidates can select the Test Centre and Test Schedule of their choice through the Online Test Booking System.

Candidates must have basic familiarity with use of keyboard and mouse operations to take the test. The candidate sits in front of the computer and the questions are presented on the monitor. The questions appearing on the screen will be in English. All questions will be of the Multiple Choice Question (MCQ type), each consisting of a stem which may be in the form of a question or an incomplete statement and four responses labeled A, B, C and D. The candidate has to select the most appropriate answer by clicking on the button next to the answer. Candidates can navigate freely through the questions. Each question carries one mark. Each correct answer will be awarded one mark. There is no negative mark for wrong answers. The final score will be displayed on the test screen immediately after the completion of the test. All rough work should be done on the paper/s supplied in the Test Centre.

Test Scheme for MBBS, BDS, BPharm & PharmD (Group I): The test will be of two and a half hours duration and will consist of 240 multiple choice objective type questions with approximately 60 questions from Physics, 60 from Chemistry, 80 from Biology and 40 from English & General Aptitude.

Test Scheme for BE, BPharm & PharmD (Group II):  The test will be of two and a half hours duration consisting of 240 multiple choice objective type questions with approximately 60 questions from Physics, 60 questions from Chemistry, 80 questions from Mathematics and 40 questions from English & General Aptitude.

Those desirous of applying for BPharm/PharmD courses can opt for the course under Group I or Group II or both. Those Candidates interested in writing the Entrance Test with Biology should opt for Group I (MBBS, BDS, BPharm & PharmD). Those Candidates interested in writing the Entrance Test with Mathematics as a subject should opt for Group II (BE/BPharm/PharmD). Those applying under both Group I (MBBS/BDS/BPharm/PharmD) and Group II (BE/BPharm/PharmD), must submit 2 separate application forms.

Applications: Application can be submitted Online at www.manipal.edu/Admissions/IndianAdmissions/Pages/ApplyOnline.aspx and the application fee of Rs. 500/- and Entrance test fee (if the selection involves an Entrance Test ) of Rs. 1000/- paid through Credit Card/Net Banking or Demand Draft. Application and Prospectus can be downloaded from www.manipal.edu/Admissions/IndianAdmissions/Pages/DownloadProspectus.aspx Candidates should print the application form, complete it in all respects and send it to Admissions Office along with the Demand Draft for the amount  which should be inclusive of Application fee of Rs. 500/- and Entrance test fee (if applicable)  of Rs. 1000/-, drawn in favour of 'Manipal University' payable at Manipal or Udupi.

The application material can also be obtained by Post from Director, Admissions, Manipal University, Manipal, Karnataka-576104, by sending a request along with a Demand Draft for Rs.500/- drawn in the name of Manipal University, payable at Manipal or Udupi.

The last date for receipt of the completed application at Manipal University with necessary documents along with the DD/Cahllan for the applicable amount drawn on 'Manipal University' payable at Manipal or Udupi is 15.03.2011. For B Arch, the last date for receipt of filled application is 10.5.2011

Online Test Booking System: Online Test booking of slots for MU-OET 2011 can be done at www.admissions.manipal.edu between 21.03.2011 and 28.03.2011. This can be done only after submitting the filled application. A slot cannot be booked outside this time period. Candidates can book the test schedule at the centre, date and time of their choice which is done on first-come-first-served basis and are subject to availability. An online test booking password is needed for this. The online test booking password will be sent to the e-mail ID of the candidate given in the application form, sufficiently in advance. This password will be required only for the purpose of booking a schedule using online test booking system and to download e-hall ticket from the website.

e-hall ticket: The e-hall ticket will be generated 48 hours after the candidate has booked his/her schedule through the online test booking system. Candidate should provide the application form number and online test booking password to download the e-hall ticket. The e-hall ticket will indicate the e-hall ticket number, course/s applied, address of the test centre, test date & time selected by the candidate. Discrepancies, if any, must be brought to the notice of the authorities immediately. Copy of the e-hall ticket will also be emailed to the candidate. The e-hall ticket will not be sent to candidates via post or fax. Candidates should take two print outs of the e-hall ticket on A4 size paper only. Candidates have to report to the selected test centre with the two copies of the e-hall ticket, one photocopy of the application form and any one of Passport/Driving License/EC Voter ID card/IT PAN card or School/College photo-bearing ID card for photo identification. The Fee for various courses for the entire duration of the course are as under.

MBBS: Rs. 25,12,000/-; BDS: Rs.15,75,000/-; B.Pharm: 5,78,000/-; Pharm D: Rs.10,72,000/-; BE: Rs.5,21,000/- to Rs.7,73,000/- (depending on the branch); B Arch: Rs..9,85,000/-
