Application have been invited by Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-Bombay) for admission to Post-Graduation Programmes viz. Ph.D, M.Tech, M.Des and M.Phil for the Academic Year commencing from July 2011.

M.Tech:
1. Aerospace Engineering (AE), 2. Biosciences and Bioengineering (BM), 3. Chemical Engineering (CH), 4. Civil Engineering (CE), 5. Computer Science and Engineering(CS)
6. Earth Sciences (GS & PG) (ES), 7. Electrical Engineering (EE), 8. Energy Science & Engineering (EN), 9. Mechanical Engineering (ME), 10. Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science (MM), 11. Corrosion Science & Engineering (CO), 12. Materials, Manufacturing and Modeling (MMM), 13. Industrial Engineering and Operations Research(IO),14. Systems & Control Engineering (SC)

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY FOR M.TECH PROGRAMMES IN ALL DEPARTMENTS / CENTRES / SCHOOLS / I D GROUPS:
Candidates with FIRST class or 60% marks in B.E. / B.Tech / B.Sc. (Engg.) / M.Sc. / MCA / MBBS / M.Pharm. or equivalent in appropriate branches (55% marks for SC / ST) and a high GATE score are eligible to apply for various M.Tech. programmes. However, applicant should fulfill the specified qualifying degree criteria as mentioned against the concerned Department / ID groups / Centre / School, which he/she has applied for.

M.Des:
1. Industrial Design, 2. Visual Communication/Animation/Interaction Design, 3. Mobility and Vehicle Design

Eligibility for M.Des Programme:

The candidates should have a minimum of 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST) or equivalent grades in the qualifying examination:
Industrial Design:

(i) Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Architecture Design/ Interior Design, or equivalent
(ii) Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT, or equivalent)

Visual Communication/Animation/Interaction Design:
(i) Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Architecture/ Design/ Interior Design, or equivalent
(ii) Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or equivalent)
(iii) BFA (4 year Professional programme, after 10+2)
(iv) GD Art (5 years programme after 10th) with one year professional experience
(v) Master’s degree in Arts/ Science/ Computer Applications

Mobility and Vehicle Design:
(i) Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Architecture/ Design / Interior Design or equivalent
(ii) Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or equivalent)
(iii) BFA (4 year Professional programme, after 10+2)

M.Phil:
1. Economics, 2. English, 3. Philosophy, 4. Psychology, 5. Sociology, 6. Cell for Indian Science and Technology in Sanskrit (CISTS).7. Planning and Development

Eligibility:
Master’s degree in Arts, Commerce or equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent letter grade (50% for SC/ST) from a recognized university or deemed university.
B.Tech./M.Sc. degree or equivalent with adequate background in Social Sciences with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent letter grade (55% for SC/ST).

Ph.D
Aerospace, Chemical, Civil, Computer Science and Engineering, Energy Science & Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineering and Material Sciences, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Mathematics and Physics

Eligibility:
One of the following in appropriate areas:
1) First class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST) or equivalent Master’s Degree in Engineering / Technology OR
2) A First class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST) Master’s degree in Science or a first class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST) in Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology. Candidates meeting this requirement must also fulfill one of the following additional requirements:
(i) Valid GATE score
(ii) CSIR / UGC / NBHM / DBT award
(iii) Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience

The application fee of Rs.300/- is to be paid by Debit Card/ Credit Card/SBI Internet Banking/Online Payment System/Demand Draft drawn in favour of ‘Registrar, IIT Bombay’ payable at SBI or Canara Bank, IIT Powai/Mumbai branch.

OFFLINE:
Application Form & Information Brochure can be downloaded from the website ( www.iitb.ac.in/admissions ) /obtained in person/ by sending a Demand Draft (of the required amount) to Deputy Registrar, (Academic), IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai – 400 076. Cost of Application form is Rs. 300/for GN/OBCNC/PC category (belonging to GN category) (150/forSC/ST/PC belonging to SC/ST category). The cost of application form is to be paid only in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of ‘REGISTRAR, IIT BOMBAY’ payble at SBI/ Canara Bank IIT Powai, Mumbai Branch
