Ph.D Admissions 2011-2012
Applications have been invited by Bharath University, Chennai, for admission to Ph.D Courses to be commenced in the following departments for the Session September 2011.
Faculty of Engineering
Faculty of Management
Faculty of Humanities & Sciences
Faculty of Dental Sciences
Faculty of Medical Sciences
Minimum Qualifications for Eligibility:
A candidate for admission to the Ph.D programme must have obtained any one of the following academic qualifications in the discipline of research or a subject allied thereto (the alliance will be decided by the Academic Council on the recommendation of the respective Board of Studies) at the Master’s degree (M.Tech/M.E., MBA, MCA, M.A, M.Sc., etc. other than M.Phil) level from a recognized University:
(i) At least 60% marks with First class or equivalent CGPA at the Master’s Degree level;
(ii) At least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA at the Master’s Degree level followed by the degree of M.Phil with course work.
(iii) At least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA at the Master’s Degree level with at least three years teaching experience in the subject concerned in a recognized College/University/Institute OR at least three years experience on supervisory executive positions in Industry/business house.
(iv) At least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA at the Master’s Degree level and the candidate has also qualified the UGC/CSIR-NET, GATE, SLET etc.
(v) At least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA at the Master’s Degree level if the candidate has been selected as Junior/Senior Research Fellow in a research project sanctioned by UGC, CSIR, ICSSR or any other govt. body to the University or its Institutes.
(vi) In the case of NRI/Foreign candidates, at least 55% marks in the qualifying examinations of Master’s Degree in the relevant discipline. However, the candidates, who have passed the qualifying examinations from any foreign University, will have to submit equivalence certificates from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

Fees Payable by the Ph.D. student
(1) Admission Form & Processing fees: Rs.750/- (For website downloaded applications, a DD of Rs.800/- is to be enclosed)
(2) Registration fee to be paid (once):
Regular Students Rs.2,500/- and SC/ST Rs.1500 /-.
