PG Admissions 2011-2012 (Online registration starts from July 16, 2011)

The Mahatma Gandhi University has announced the admission to its Post-Graduate programmes. Accordingly, applications have been invited for admission to the Post Graduate courses in the affiliated Arts & Science Colleges for the academic year 2011-12 through Centralised Allotment Process except MLISc and those courses to which Entrance Examinations are conducted for admission/courses that come under the faculty of Fine Arts.

The submission of online applications (online registration) will begin from, July 16, Saturday. The application fee for the same was being accepted at all Federal Bank branches in the state. Those who have already submitted the application fee can submit applications online from July 16.

Details of the Courses and Duration: The courses lead to Masters Degree in the relevant subject. The course extends for a period of four Semesters. The course of study shall be by regular attendance for the requisite number of lectures, practical training and other means.

Details of seats that come under the ambit of Centralised Allotment Process:

i. Govt. Colleges: Total seats available in government colleges

ii. Aided Colleges: Open quota seats and seats earmarked for SC/ST candidates.

iii. Unaided Colleges/ Unaided courses conducted in Aided Colleges: 50% of the total seats including seats reserved for SC/ST/SEBC. The remaining seats under community quota (Aided Colleges only)/management quota (Aided and Unaided Colleges and Unaided Courses conducted in Aided Colleges)/sports and cultural quota and persons with disabilities quota (all affiliated Colleges) shall be filled by the educational agency concerned as per the existing rules and report the same to the University within the stipulated time.

How and When to Apply: There is only a single application form for applying for admission to all the P.G. Degree Courses in various affiliated colleges. If a candidate submits more than one application his/her candidature is liable to be cancelled.

Registration fee: The registrationfee will be as follows:

For General candidates : Rs.100/

For SC/ST candidates : Rs.50/

Registration fee once remitted will not be refunded under any circumstances.

• The candidates have to remit the registration fee in any branch of Federal Bank, from 14.07.2011 to 20.07.2011.

• Bank will issue a registration kit containing the application Number and Security Key. • Candidates should visit the website www.mgu.ac.in and submit the online application using the above Application Number and Security Key.
• Online submission of application can be made from 16.07.2011 to 20.07.2011 by visiting the web site www.mgu.ac.in

Submission of Applications : There will be two stages in the submission of applications, both of which are mandatory.

a. On-line Registration of personal and academic data as well as options for courses and colleges. b. Submission of the printout of the online application after all modifications with all necessary supporting documents to the Office of the Joint Registrar II (Admn), MG University, Priyadarsini Hills P.O, Kottayam – 686560. ‘Application for admission to PG Courses through CAP’ should be superscribed on the envelope containing the filled in application form and supporting documents.

On-line Registration of Personal and Academic Data: For online registration of personal and academic data, the candidate must visit the web site, www.mgu.ac.in and click on the link “Admission to PG Degree Course 2011”. A candidate must have his/her Application Number and Security Key to perform online registration of personal and academic data. He/She will have to initially log in to the website using the ‘Application Number’ and ‘Security Key’. Then the candidate will have to create and submit a ‘Password” which must be alphanumeric (combination of alphabets and numerals). On successful submission of the password, the candidate will be led to the page where personal and academic details and options have to be entered.

Eligibility, Time Schedule and Procedure for Online Registration of Options.

Eligibility for registering options: The candidates, registering their options, should satisfy all the eligibility conditions with regard to academic qualifications stated in the Prospectus. Options of only those candidates who find place in the rank list will be processed for allotment. The minimum mark for admission to M.Sc degree courses is 50% for part III of the qualifying examination with the existing relaxation of marks for SC/St/OEC/SEBC candidates.

The options for college(s) and course(s) can be done while filing online registration of personal and academic data or subsequently within the last date of submission of application.

RESERVATION OF SEATS

Types of Reservation: Out of the total Merit Seats available in Govt./Aided/Self Financing affiliated colleges for various PG Courses, seats will be reserved for different categories under the following main items:

(a) Reservation for nominees (b) Reservation for Persons with Disabilities (c) Special Reservation and (d) Mandatory Reservation Centralised Allotment Process:

Admission/ Allotment of seats under merit quota is governed by a Centralized Allotment Process. Selection/ Allotment of a candidate to any college will be based on the rank of the candidate and the availability of seats. While a reserved category candidate entitled to admission on the basis of his/her merit will have the option of taking admission to the colleges where a specified number of seats have been kept reserved for reserved category, but while computing the percentage of reservation he/ she will be deemed to have been admitted as an open category candidate and not as a reserved category candidate.

After the allotment, the prescribed fee due to the University will have to be remitted by the candidate to any branch of Federal Bank , as per the time schedule prescribed. Once the candidate remits the fee, a fee receipt will be issued by the bank, which shall be produced at the college at the time of admission. It is obligatory for the candidates to report to the college to which he/she is selected. Failure to appear before the Principal concerned for joining the course on the notified date and time will result in the forfeiture of his/her admission to the course and he/ she will not be considered for any vacancies arising in future.

Vacancies arising after the first round of allotment of seats will be filled up according to the rank of the candidate and reservation norms. Option exercised at the time of counseling will be final and the candidate is bound to accept the allotment as per the option. There will be no mutual transfer between the candidates from one college to another.
