B.Ed Admissions 2011-2012



Applications are invited by Kannur University from eligible candidates for admission for B.Ed courses at the Departments of Teacher Education, Kannur University at Kasaragod, Dharmasala (Mangattuparamba) and Mananthavady for the year 2011-12.

Eligibility for admission:
Candidates seeking admission to the B.Ed. course should have passed B.A./B.Sc/M.Com Degree examination (under the 10+2+3 pattern) with one main subject and two subsidiary subjects from this University or any other University recognized by Kannur University as equivalent thereto.
Double or triple main candidates of other Universities will be considered for admission only if they furnish the copies of the equivalency/eligibility certificate from Kannur University stating that the qualifying examination is recognized for seeking admission to B.Ed Degree course in a particular optional subject. Equal weightage is given to Single main, Double main and Triple main Degree holders.
The minimum requirement of marks for admission to B. Ed. Course is 50 % in Bachelor’s Degree [Science / Arts Subjects] in aggregate ( i.e. Part I + II + III ) or
M Com. or its equivalent CGPA with usual relaxation for the eligible categories as per University/Government/NCTE Norms.

Candidates belonging to SC/ST and natives of Lakshadweep, Aided or Government Teachers with 3 years regular service need to secure a pass in the Degree Examination. (C+ in the case of students under grading system of Kannur University). The candidates belonging to OBC will be given a relaxation of 3% and the candidates belonging to OEC will be given a relaxation of 5% from the prescribed minimum marks. Blind candidates who have more than 40% disability will be given relaxation of 5% from the prescribed minimum marks

Eligibility for different optional subjects
Languages
a) Arabic : BA Degree with Arabic Language and Literature with 50% marks in aggregate or BA/B.Sc with 50% of marks for Part II Arabic and not less than 50% of marks for Master’s Degree in Arabic Language and Literature.
b) English: BA Degree with English language and Literature/Functional English/B.A Communicative English with 50% marks or BA/B.Sc. with 50% of marks for Part I English, and not less than 50% marks in Master's Degree in English Language and Literature.
c) Hindi : BA Degree with Hindi Language and Literature with 50% marks in aggregate or BA/B.Sc with 50% of marks for Part II Hindi and not less than 50% of marks for Master’s Degree in Hindi Language and Literature.
d) Kannada: BA Degree with Kannada Language and Literature with 50% marks in aggregate or BA/B.Sc with 50% of marks for Part II Kannada and not less than 50% of marks for Master’s Degree in Kannada Language and Literature.
e) Malayalam: BA Degree with Malayalam language and literature with 50% marks in aggregate or BA/B.Sc with 50% of marks for Part II Malayalam and not less than 50% of marks for Master’s Degree in Malayalam language and literature.
f) Sanskrit : BA Degree with Sanskrit Language and Literature with 50% marks in aggregate or BA/B.Sc with 50% of marks for Part II Sanskrit and not less than 50% of marks for Master’s Degree in Sanskrit Language and Literature.

Other Optionals
a) Mathematics: B.Sc. Degree with Mathematics/Statistics/Applied Statistics as main, with 50% marks in aggregate. Candidates with Statistics/Applied Statistics should have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects.
b) Physical Science: B.Sc. Degree with Physics/Chemistry/Polymer Chemistry/B.Sc. Geology/B.Sc. Petrochemicals/ B.Sc. Bio-Chemistry/ B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry main with 50% marks in aggregate.
c) Natural Science: B.Sc. Degree with Botany /Zoology / Bio –Chemistry/ B.Sc. Plant Science/(Home Science with Zoology or Botany as subsidiary)/B.Sc. Aquaculture (With Biochemistry and Zoology as Subsidiaries)/B.Sc. Biotechnology/Microbiology with 50% marks in aggregate.
d) Social Science: B.A. Degree with History /Arabic and Islamic History main with 50% marks in aggregate or B.A. Degree with Geography/Politics/Economics/Sociology /Psychology/Philosophy/West Asian Studies under part III and with 50% marks in aggregate.
e) Commerce: M.Com. degree with 50% marks in aggregate. Such candidates are not eligible for admission to any other B.Ed Course.

Fees:
a) Application Fee: Rs.100/- (Rupees one hundred only)
b) Registration Fee: Rs.300 /-(Rupees three hundred only)
The fees above should be paid by way of Treasury Chalan or Current Account Pay –in–Slip (SBT) for Kannur University.
Head of Account in Government Treasuries: 8658-00-102-96(27)K.U.S
Purpose: Application Fee/Reg. Fee for B.Ed. Course 2011-12 in DTEs.
The Chalan receipt/ pay-in-slip in original towards the registration fee should be attached to the filled in application form. The candidates should remit the above fee of Rs. 400/- (Rs. 100 + Rs. 300) in a single chalan / pay-in-slip. The candidates applying at more than one campus should submit separate application forms but can attach a Photostat copy of the chalan/pay-in-slip with the application submitted.

Attested copies of Certificates/Documents to be submitted along with the application: (Those should be produced in original at the time of admission.)
a) Secondary School Leaving Certificate
b) Qualifying Degree/ PG certificate and of higher qualifications, if any.
c) Mark Lists of qualifying Degree Examination.
d) Transfer Certificate and Conduct Certificate.
e) Nativity, Income and Community Certificate for those who claim weightage or reservation benefit.
f) Experience Certificate in Form IV of KER for claiming admission under Teacher's quota and for giving weightage for teaching experience. These
certificates should be signed by the Head of School and countersigned by AEO/DEO.
g) Equivalence / Eligibility certificates from the university in the case of double or triple main candidates and degree holders of universities outside Kerala.
h) Any other certificates from the competent authorities for the claim of admission under any specific quota that is Sports/NCC/Differently Abled Persons / Linguistic
Minority/Defence personnel etc. if applicable.
i) The original Chalan/Demand Draft/Pay-in-slip for Rs.400- (Demand Drafts shall be drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, Kannur University payable at SBT Kannur University Campus Branch. DDs drawn from banks other than SBT should be payable at Kannur)

Filled in application along with the supporting documents and fee should reach the Course Director of the campus concerned. The envelope should be superscribed as “Application for B.Ed. course 2011 -12”.

Last date for submission of Application at the Departments : 06/09/2011 (Tuesday)
