Scholarship for Muslim ,Christian, and Velar girl students


Director of Collegiate Education, Government of Kerala has invited applications from girl students belonging to the Muslim Community or Latin Catholic Community or Converted Christians (Scheduled Caste Velar Community), studying in Government/Government Aided Institutions for Under Graduate Programmes, in any class from the first year of the course to the last year and also from those undergoing higher education, for the award of 5000 Scholarships and 2000 Hostel Stipends.

Those girl students belonging to the Muslim Community or Latin Catholic Community, Converted Christians (Scheduled Caste Velar Community) who have written the Common Entrance Examinations and have taken admission to the merit seats in Self financing Colleges are also eligible to apply for the scholarships and Stipend. Girl students of these communities, who could not apply in the first year, can apply in the succeeding years. They will however be considered only for the scholarship/stipend for the year in which they apply.

There are 3000 scholarships for the Under Graduate Courses carrying an amount of Rs.3000/- per annum. For the Post Graduate courses, there are 1000 scholarships each carrying a sum of Rs. 4000/- per annum. In case of Professional courses, the number of scholarships is 1000, each having value of Rs.5000/- per annum. Each of the 2000 hostel stipends carries an amount of Rs.10000/- per annum. Latin Christians and Converted Christians each will be allocated 20% of the Scholarship/stipend.

Applicant should be girl student permanently settled in Kerala and belonging to the Muslim or Latin Catholic or Converted Christians (Scheduled Caste Velar) Community.Applicant should have secured at least 50% marks in the qualifying Examination.

The annual income of the family should be below Rs.2,50,000/- Those applying for the Hostel Stipend, should be residing in approved Hostels (Hostels run by Government, Social Welfare Departments, Universities, IHRD, LBS etc and Hostel run by the Institution where the applicant is studying will be treated as recognized Hostels). Those eligible for the Stipend will not be eligible for the Scholarship

Applicant should have a Bank account in his/her name in one of State Bank of Travancore/ State Bank of India / South Indian Bank/Federal Bank. This is mandatory to apply for the Scholarship.
Applications: Applications can be submitted only ‘ONLINE’ at the Scholarship Website of Department of Collegiate Education,
www.dcescholarship.kerala.gov.in. The last date for Online Submission of the Application by students is 30th November, 2011.

Procedure for Online Submission of Application:
(i) Click the link ‘Muslim Girls Scholarship (Paloli Committee- MGS)’ provided in the Home Page of Scholarship website
(ii) Click on the button ‘Apply Online’. If the applicant has already registered his/ her name for any other Scholarship at this site, the candidate may login with the previous registration details. Candidates who have not registered earlier for any scholarship (fresh candidates) have to click ‘New Registration’ for registering their name.
(iii) Click ‘MGS’ Tab in the scholarship page
(iv) Fill in the Annual Income, Details of the Hostel, Religion, and Indicate whether the admission is in Merit sea, in case of applicants of Professional courses
(v) Click ‘SUBMIT’

After submitting, the applicant has to take the Registration Printout, paste a recent passport size photograph on it, attest it and submit it along with the documents listed below, to the Verifying Officer of the Institution, latest by 6th December, 2011.
Documents to be submitted along with Registration Printout
(i)Attested copy of mark list of SSLC, attested by a Gazetted Officer
(ii) Attested copy of first page of bank pass book in the name of the student, showing account number, name, code etc attested by a Gazetted Officer
(iii) Copy of the Nativity Certificate, attested by Gazetted Officer
(iv) Copy of the Mark list of Qualifying Examination attested by a Gazetted Officer
(v) Copy of the Community Certificate
(vi) Income Certificate from the Village Officer
(vii) Inmate Certificate obtained from the Hostel and Countersigned by the Head of the Institution, in case of those staying in hostels
(viii) Copy of allotment memo in case of those in merit seats of Self financing colleges.

The Online Verification of the applications of students and the approval of the applications at Institutional level is to be completed by 20.12.2011.

Applications in respect of Government/Aided Colleges may be retained in the Institute. Applications in case of those studying in Self financing Colleges should be forwarded to reach ‘The Special Officer Scholarships, Directorate of Collegiate Education (Annexe), Govt. Sanskrit College Campus, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram, 695034’ latest by 25.12.2011.
