Applications have been invited for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) 2013, for admission to the full time regular three year (Six Semester) B.Sc Degree Programme in Hospitality and Hotel Administration offered jointly by the National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology and the Indira Gandhi National Open University. The Programme is aimed to equip scholars with knowledge, technical skills and service attitude for hospitality industry.

Selection to the Programme will be based on the merit in the JEE (Written Examination) to be conducted from 1000 hrs to 1300 hrs on 27th April 2013 (Saturday) at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Dehradun, Goa, Gurdaspur, Guwahati, Gwalior, Hyderabad, Jabalpur, Jammu, Jamshedpur, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Puducherry, Pune, Raipur, Shillong, Shimla, Siliguri, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram and Varanasi.

Eligibility

A pass in 10+2 system of Senior Secondary examination or its equivalent with English as one of the subjects. Candidate must have passed English as a subject of study (core/elective/functional) in the qualifying examination.

Those appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination can also appear in JEE 2013 on provisional basis. Provisional admission will stand cancelled if proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) is not submitted at the time of counselling or at the time of admission or latest by 30-09-2013.

The offer of admission is subject to verification of original certificates/documents at the time of admission. If any candidate is found ineligible at a later date even after admission to an Institute, his/her admission will stand cancelled.

QUALIFYING EXAMINATIONS FOR INDIAN STUDENTS

Plus two level examination in the 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education of any recognized Central/State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination or State Boards of Secondary Education.

Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.

General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.

High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University.

Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in a foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education.

H.S.C. Vocational Examination.

Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects including English as one of the Subjects.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Admission shall be based on marks obtained by the candidate in All India (Written Test) JEE-examination to be held on April 27th, 2013. Allotment of Institute shall strictly be in order of merit & rank. No group discussions or personal interviews are involved in this admission process.

Age: The upper age limit for applicants from General and OBC categories as on 1.7.2013, is 22 years (Applicant should have been born on or after July 1, 1991). In case of SC/ST applicants, upper age limit is 25 years as on 1.7.2013 (should have been born on or after July 1, 1988). Upper age limit for Physically Challenged candidates will be as applicable to the category to which he/she belongs to (General/SC/ST/OBC).

All candidates qualifying for admission will have to submit a physical fitness certificate at the time of admission from a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format given at Appendix-I of the JEE Information Brochure that can be downloaded from http://applyadmission.net/nchmjee2013/

Reservation of Seats: For the SC and ST categories, 15% and 7.5% seats, respectively, are reserved in Central and State Government Institutes of Hotel Management. 27% seats are reserved for candidates belonging to OBC (Non creamy layer) category in Central Institutes of Hotel Management. 3% of seats in every category are reserved for Physically Disabled candidates in all Central & State Government Institutes of Hotel Management. For any category of disability (viz. locomotors, visual, dyslexia, speech, and /or hearing) benefit would be given to those who have at least 40% physical impairment. One seat (Supernumerary) in each Central and State Government affiliated IHM is provided for Registered Kashmiri Migrants. Such applicants shall have to qualify the JEE-2013.

Applicants claiming reservation have to submit the specified certificates as per the format given in the Bulletin. More details can be made from the Information Bulletin and website.

Application Fee: Application fee is Rs. 900/- for General/OBC categories and Rs.450/- for SC/ST/PD categories. Payment can be made through Credit Card/Debit Card (Approved by Master/Visa).

Application: Application can be submitted online till 15th April 2013 (Monday) at http://applyadmission.net/nchmjee2013/GuidelinesCC.htm.

Applicant must have the Credit Card/Debit Card ready before filling up the Application Form as certain details from the Card would be needed at the time of filling online application. After filling the form correctly, applicant should click the button ‘Proceed Next’. The data filled by the applicant will be displayed at this point of time. In case one wishes to change any information, he/she should click ‘Back to Edit Application Form’ button. If there is no need of a change in information, applicant may click ‘Pay Now!’ button. In case of any Payment Error due to any network communication/ connectivity problems, if the application form does not get materialize and the amount has been debited from the account of the applicant, the same will be refunded to the account of the applicant after reconciliation with Bank and declaration of the JEE 2013 result. In such cases, applicants are advised to register again.

Applicants may recheck the application before submitting, as no editing is possible after submission. An auto-generated Application Number is allotted to the applicant on successful submission of online Application form and the same will appear on print version of the Application Form. Before taking the print out, applicant must save the print version of application form using the ‘SAVE AS’ function in the ‘FILE’ menu of the window.

After taking the print out, applicant should affix his/her passport size photograph & put his/her signature in the space provided on the print version of application. A photocopy of the application form may be kept by the applicant for future reference,

The print out of the filled online JEE 2013 Application Form with auto-generated Application No, with the photograph affixed and duly signed , should be sent to ‘JEE Cell, National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology , A-34, Institutional Area , Sector-62, Noida, Uttar Pradesh- 201309’ to reach their latest by 15th April 2013. Registration Process will be completed only on receipt of duly completed Print Version of Online Application Form.

Application from and Information Brochure will also be on sale from 26th December, 2012, at NCHMCT Office at Noida and at 50 affiliated Institutes of Hotel Management and 6 Food Craft Institutes, the addresses of which are available at www.nchmct.org.  

The duly filled application form should reach NCHMCT by Speed Post, latest by 15th April, 2013.

Admit Card of those applicants whose application form reach JEE Cell, on or before the last date prescribed, can be downloaded from http://www.nchmct.org  or http://applyadmission.net/nchmjee2013    on or after 1400 hours on 19th April 2013 (Friday) using the NCHMCT Application Number (Auto-generated number given on Online Application Form). No separate admit card will be issued through post.

Admit card will have the Roll Number and Test Centre Address. Two identical photographs similar to the one pasted in the printout, should be pasted on the Admit Card. The photographs on the Admit Card should be got attested by any Gazetted Officer or Head of the Institute / School from where the candidate has passed or is going to pass the qualifying examination.

The ‘JEE 2013 Admit Card’ duly completed has to be produced at the test centre for appearing in the test. Admit Card will be verified and signed by the Invigilator during the test. The Upper Half of the Admit Card will be collected by the Invigilator and the Lower Half will be handed over to the candidate. The results of JEE will be available at the website in the 2nd Week of May, 2013.  Counselling will be conducted from 1st week of June, 2013. Academic Session will commence on 1st August, 2013

Graduates in Hospitality stream have career opportunities in National and International Star Hotel, Restaurant & Fast Food outlets, Flight Kitchen and on-board flight services, Indian Armed Forces, Shipping and Cruise Lines, Railway Hospitality and Catering Services, State Tourism Development Corporations etc. They can work as Marketing/Sales Executives in Hotel and other Service Sector Industry, Faculty in Institute of Hotel Management/Food Craft Institute,   Guest/Customer Relation Executive in Hotels and Corporate Houses etc. Self Employment through entrepreneurship, enrolment for higher studies in M.Sc, M.B.A programmes offered by Universities in India and abroad are some other options.
