Department of Liberal Arts, IIT Hyderabad, has invited
applications for admission to PhD & MPhil Courses of Academic Year 2013-14.
The department of Liberal Arts at IIT Hyderabad is
a leading center for the study of a highly diverse range of subjects including
Cultural Studies, Economics, English (Literature and Language), Psychology,
Sociology and Social Anthropology. Academic programs such as International
Relations, and Media and Fine Arts are soon to be integrated into the existing structure.
While its primary focus remains world class research in the fields of
humanities and social sciences, the department is also deeply committed to
teaching innovative and intellectually stimulating courses to undergraduate and
post graduate students of the institute. In addition, Liberal Arts at IIT
Hyderabad places a lot of importance on interdisciplinary collaborations
resulting in academic and financial development through projects of national
and international importance. Currently, the department offers undergraduate
courses at the institute and also has a strong post graduate program that
confers research degrees, namely M.Phil. and Ph.D.

department of Liberal Arts at IIT Hyderabad strives to pursue excellence in
teaching and research to benefit students, academics and the wider society. The

Minimum
Eligibility Criteria: MPhil Programme:
55% in MA / MCom or 60 % in MSc / MTech / MBA (or
equivalent CGPA) with adequate background in Humanities and Social
Sciences. Shortlisted candidates must
clear a written test conducted by the Department of Liberal Arts.

55% marks or equivalent CGPA in Master degree with
UGC / NET score or MPhil degree from reputed Universities or Institutes
Shortlisted candidates must pass an interview conducted by the Department of
Liberal Arts
Procedure
for Submitting Application:
The application form, downloadable from
www.iith.ac.in, should be sent to the Professor in-Charge, Liberal Arts, along
with a bank challan of Rs. 200/- (Rs. 100/- for SC / ST / PD candidates) drawn
in favour of ‘Registrar, IIT Hyderabad’ payable at Hyderabad. At the back of
the challan kindly write your name and specialization. The filled-in
application form through email attachment and as hard copy must be submitted to
the Professor in-Charge along with the scanned copy of the challan.
