NOTIFICATION
Applications are invited for the Certificate Course
in Library & information Science being offered by the Govt. of Kerala in
State Central Library Thiruvananthapuram under the Department of Higher
Education, Government of Kerala.
Eligibility
A pass in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination / or its Equivalent
is the minimum required qualification for admission. (Eligibility for higher
studies in the case of grading)

Duration of Course Total duration of the course is
Six months. During the last two months the students will have to undergo
training under “Earn While You Learn” scheme and a remuneration of Rs. 900/-
per month will be given to them in tune with G.O(Rt)No. 1815/05/H.Edn dated
25/10/05. The Departmental Candidates are not entitled to any remuneration.
Mode of Admission A rank list will be prepared
based on the marks obtained by the applicants in the qualifying examination by
the committee constituted as per G.O.(MS).221/86/H.Edn. dated 29/08/86. No
weightage will be given for higher/additional qualifications.
Hostel No hostel facilities are available.
How to apply The Prospectus and Application form
may be obtained on all working days between 10.00 am and 5.00 pm at free of
cost from the State Central Library,
Thiruvananthapuram from 2014 June 25 to 2014 July 25
Thiruvananthapuram.
The application form can also be downloaded from
the website of State Central Library Thiruvananthapuram. The website of the
State Central Library is www.statelibrary.kerala.gov.in
By Post The
prospectus & Application form may be obtained by post from the Office
of the State Librarian, State Central Library, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram–33.
For this purpose a self addressed stamped envelope should be enclosed with the request.
The Application for admission to the certificate
course must be submitted in the specified proforma.
The
following documents have to be produced along with the application
i) Attested copy of mark list for the qualifying
examination.
ii) Caste/Community Certificate
(Certificate in proof of Caste/Community)
iii) Non Creamy Layer Certificate
The duly filled in and signed application form
along with the above documents should be sent to the State Librarian, State
Central Library, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram- Pin- 695033 on or before 2014 July 25 5.00 P.M . The
applications for admission will be scrutinized by a committee constituted by
the Government as per G.O(Ms)No:221/86/H.Edn dated 29-08-1986 with Joint
Commissioner for Government Examinations as Chairman, State Librarian as
Convener and the representatives of Director
of Collegiate Education, Director of Technical
Education and Director of Medical Education as members and the Rank List for
admission will be released by the above committee. The certificate in Library
and Information Science for the financial year 2014-15 is scheduled to commence
during the Third week of August 2014.
