M. Tech and Ph.D. Programmes- July 2015 Batch

Applications are invited for admission to M. Tech and Ph.D. Programmes, as per description below.

1. INTRODUCTION
Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Deemed University (DU), contributes significantly in the sphere of Human Resources Development for the Defence Forces by way of imparting education and training on Defence Technology to the officers of Armed Forces, Scientists of the DRDO, Technical Officers of the Ordnance Factory Board, Directorate of Quality Assurance, Public Sector Undertakings, General Public and friendly foreign countries.The University conducts M.Tech and Ph.D Programmes and offers a number of short-term courses.

2. Ph.D. PROGRAMME
DIAT offers admission to PhD in the frontier areas of Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Materials engineering and Applied Chemistry.

Eligibility: a) 55% marks or equivalent CGPA in M.E./M. Tech. for Ph.D. in Engineering or Master of Science with 55% marks or equivalent CGPA for Ph.D. in Science. AND GATE Score / UGC-CSIR NET certificate. b) M. Tech / M. Phil degree without GATE/NET/SET/CSIR but with one year of research experience with at least one research publication in peer reviewed journal, for Ph. D. with fellowship. c) M. Sc. Degree without GATE/NET/SET/CSIR but with 2 years of research experience with at least one International journal publication for Ph. D. with fellowship.

Note :- 1. Candidates who are in the final semester of their PG degree are eligible to apply; Mark sheet up to the last semester should be produced during interview. Provisional passing certificate and mark sheet of the final semester are required to be submitted before commencement of program. 2. Irrespective of the fulfillment of criteria for admission in Ph. D with fellowship preference will be given to candidates having cleared GATE/NET/SLET examinations

Selection: Admission to Ph.D. will be based on the performance in the entrance exam (written test) conducted by the department concerned followed by personal interview.

Scholarship: Selected students will be eligible for scholarship as per MHRD guidelines.

Synthesis Characterization and application of tertiary Chalcogenide semiconductor nano particles for solar cells. 5. M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Armament / Combat Vehicles)
B. E. / B. Tech degree and AMIE qualified Engineers in Mechanical / Production / Automobile Engineering disciplines from recognized university.
6. M.Tech in Sensor Technology
Master degree or equivalent in Physics / Applied Physics / Electronics / Electronic Science/Instrumentation or a B. E. / B. Tech / B. Sc (Engineering) degree or equivalent in Electronics/ Electrical /Communication/ Telecommunication / Electronics / Instrumentation / E&TC Engineering / Engineering Physics. Departmental candidates, who are possessing AMIE / Grand IETE degree, are also eligible.
7. M.Tech in Modelling & Simulation
M.Sc. in Mathematics / Physics / Statistics / O. R./ Computer Science / (Provided mathematics is one of the subject at the graduate level), Bachelors Degree in Engineering / Technology of a recognized Institute University. Proficiency in computer programming is essential.
8. M.Tech in Chemical Science & Technology
M. Sc in any branch of Chemistry, BE/ B. Tech in Chemical Engg or BE/ B. Tech (Polymer) or equivalent degree.
9 M. Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Marine)
B. E. degree in Mechanical / Marine Engineering from recognized University.
10 M. Tech in Signal Processing & Communication with specialization in
(a) Wireless Networks & Applications (WNA).
(b) Navigation Systems (NS)
B. E. / B. Tech degree or equivalent in Electronics / Electrical / Communication / Telecommunication / Electronics & Instrumentation / E &TC Engineering / Computer Science & Engineering / Information Technology / Instrumentation Engineering.
11 M. Tech in Robotics (Provisionally planned and to be confirmed at the time of admissions) #

NOTE :- There are total 25 seats (sponsored & scholarship category students) in each of the above mentioned M. Tech program.

Eligibility:
a) Qualification
55% marks or 5.5 CGPA in the qualifying examination as indicated against the disciplines concerned and valid GATE Score. The qualification should have been obtained from a UGC recognized University / Deemed to be University / Institution in India. The candidates who are in the final semester of their degree are also eligible to apply; Mark sheet up to the last semester should be enclosed. Provisional certificate in such cases along with Mark sheet of the final semester are required to be submitted before commencement of program.
b) Age limit
Not more than 26 years as on July 1, 2015. Relaxations as per GOI rules apply to SC / ST / OBC / PH applicants. c) Scholarship Selected candidate will be eligible for applying for scholarship [Rs.12400/- per month at present] under DBT Scheme of AICTE during the M.Tech Course, subject to attendance. No financial support will be available from DIAT (DU), Pune.

#Note :- Candidates applying for M. Tech in Robotics will not eligible for scholarship under DBT Scheme of AICTE. No financial support will be available from DIAT also.

4. BOARDING / LODGING
Accommodation and mess facilities are available in the POINTS Hostel on payment basis. However, due to very limited rooms in POINTS Hostel, it may or may not be possible to provide POINTS Hostel accommodation to all the students. The present monthly charge towards boarding and lodging is ~Rs.6000/- (subject to revision).

5. HOW TO APPLY
Candidates have to apply online through the website, www.diatonline.co.in  . Application fee of Rs.200/- (100/- for SC/ST candidates) per programme is required to be paid by Demand Draft drawn in favour of Vice Chancellor, DIAT, Pune, payable at Pune. The application has to be uploaded as per the instructions provided in the website, www.diatonline.co.in. A print out of the application acknowledgement generated by the system after upload of application has to be forwarded in a sealed envelope super scribed the name of M. Tech Program to the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Defence Institute of Advance Technology, Pune 411025 along with the DD drawn and with the self certified copies of mark lists, certificates and other testimonials. These documents should reach DIAT latest by 05 May 2015. Application will be processed only on receipt of the acknowledgement with DD. Also. Candidates seeking admission to more than one program need to apply separately.

6. GENERAL INFORMATION  
·Since the applications may be short listed, mere possessing of the prescribed qualifications would not entitle a person to be called for test/interview. The Institute may restrict the number of candidates to be called for test / interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications / marks higher than that of the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.  
·For short listing of candidates, the department screening committee may prepare branch wise list (i.e. different GATE score cut-off) where Qualification requirements are various branches.  
·Application once made will not be allowed to withdrawn and fees once paid will NOT be refunded on any count nor can it be held in reserve for any other admission process  
·Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification. Postal delay shall not be entertained.  
·No correspondence will be entertained in respect of advertisement, interview, selection etc. The list of Shortlisted candidate will be displayed on http://diat.ac.in  or http://diatonline.co.in  website alongwith other information viz. date of Interview / Written Test / Result. The candidates are requested to check the DIAT (DU) Website http://diat.ac.in  or http://diatonline.co.in  for related information from time to time.

7. COURSE FEE AND OTHER CHARGES.
Selected candidates for the M.Tech and Ph.D programmes are required to pay Semester Fee @Rs.5000/- per semester (subject to revision) payable immediately on joining and a caution deposit (refundable at the end of the Programme less dues if any) of Rs.10,000/-, commencing from July 2015.

8. IMPORTANT DATES:  
Ø  The online application process will start on 15 Apr 2015 (Wednesday)
Ø  Last Date for accepting online application form 30 Apr 2015 (Thursday)
Ø  Last Date of receipt of Hard copy of application 05 May 2015 (Tuesday)
Ø  Tentative Date of Interview / Written Test 3rd / 4th week of May 2015
