MCA – LATERAL ENTRY (OFFERED AT MYSORE CAMPUS)
Computer Science is a blend of creative problem
solving and engineering principles. To teach this the department provides a
comprehensive foundation in computer science complemented by a robust level of
practical application. The industry oriented syllabi enables students to
achieve higher placements in IT MNCs. Extensive support and constant guidance
of the staff encourage students to pursue internship in leading companies as
part of the major project.
INTEGRATED M. SC. MATHEMATICS / PHYSICS (OFFERED AT
AMRITAPURI CAMPUS)
Amrita offers a five year integrated program,
Master of Sciences (M. Sc.) Mathematics / Physics. The proposed program aims to
provide students with a broad theoretical background so that students are
completely equipped to move into careers in academic, industrial and commercial
organizations. The course curriculum is interdisciplinary in nature involving
applied chemistry, applied physics, mathematics and biological sciences. Our
institute has a good number of experts in these areas along with basic
instrumentation facilities. The content of the course provides an understanding
of different aspects of the subject. Laboratory courses have been designed to
provide an exhaustive and hands on experience on working with various sophisticated
instruments. Final semester is dedicated to thesis/dissertation work giving
students experience in solving a real-life problem under the supervision of
faculty members involved in pursuing research and development projects, usually
related to industrial problems.
After successful completion of the academic
requirements students are awarded a Master of Science degree. The curriculum is
designed to ensure depth in the area of specialization together with breadth of
exposure and intellectual enrichment and to prepare the students for high level
professional research and development career in national laboratories,
universities and industry.
INTEGRATED M. A. ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE
(OFFERED AT AMRITAPURI CAMPUS)
Amrita offers five year integrated program M. A. in
English. This stream has been designed for students with sensitivity for
literary and linguistic analyses. It provides an understanding of literatures
in English from around the world with special emphasis on current debates in
literary theory, lesser-known literatures and the importance of an
interdisciplinary approach. It aims to introduce students to language, literary
and cultural studies, with an emphasis on critical reading skills that would
stand a student in good stead whatever she/he may eventually do in life.
Starting with introductory courses in the basics of language and literature,
the stream covers the masters of English literary tradition, as well as major
writers from other tradition and different kinds of literature in English in
different periods of its history.
This 5 year integrated program helps designing a
bright career in the fields of academics ,editing journalism and language
training. The program also provides an opportunity for our students and faculty
to be in close and constant touch with those of the Engineering, Sciences and
Management departments.

emphasis on Analytical Techniques. Particular attention is given to Industrial
applications of chemistry so that students are completely equipped to move into

B. SC. VISUAL MEDIA (OFFERED AT KOCHI CAMPUS)
B. Sc. in Visual Media at School of Arts and
Sciences is a three year undergraduate program for girls, who have passed their
higher secondary examinations. Visual media now plays a vital role in
marketing, promotions, entertainment. To serve the growing need for
professionals in the field of Visual Media, School offers a uniquely
incorporated combination of innovative media theories and practical works,
designed to foster the critical understanding and creative use of the
audio-visual media. This mainly involves the study of language, multimedia and
animations techniques. The students also acquire gross knowledge on printing,
broad casting, animation works and graphic designing techniques. On completing
this course, the students will be placed as a web designer, advertising
designer, graphic designer, instructor, and illustrator, event manager, or
visualization artist; in any printing, publishing, design, or event management
related fields.
B. SC. IN VISUAL MEDIA (OFFERED AT MYSORE CAMPUS)
The B. Sc. in Visual Media offered at School of
Arts and Sciences is a three year undergraduate program in Media and event
management. Visual Media acts as an agency that translates latest news events
and instances transpired to people. Visual media has taken up the role of being
the remote eyes and ears of modern man by covering incidents from the center of
action and providing live feeds thus bridging the distance. The program imparts
to students a sound knowledge of graphics design and utilization of graphic
software tools necessary for a career in one of the many exciting fields
related to visual media or pursuing specialized professional education. Visual
media earmarks the visual aethetic senses of the viewer entertains, informs and
motivates; be it an artistic sketch or a computer generated animation, the
underlying idea is to communicate to the audience an idea or a message through
the content.

Bachelor of Business Management (B. B. M.) program
offered at the School of Arts and Sciences at Mysore campus is designed to
teach students the fundamentals of business management and leadership, and in
the process, gain insights into the major areas of global business. Students
will master the skills necessary to perform leadership roles in the business
and corporate world. The program aims to develop necessary skills to manage
business, all aspects of a business operation and for the development of
specific on-the-job skills.

Bachelor of Business Administration (B. B. A.) is
an undergraduate program offered by Amrita School of Arts and Sciences. The
program curriculum has been so devised that students completing their higher
secondary education can easily adopt to a stream of education that ensures
inculcation of essential theory based and practical management and
administrative skills. The program offered at Amritapuri has some highlighting
factors when compared to other campus, prime of which can be the proximity of
the Amritapuri campus to the ashram and the influence it has on the values

MASTER OF SOCIAL WORK (M. S. W.)
The Master of Social Work is a two-year, full-time,
residential program which requires high levels of concentration, long hours of
work and sustained commitment from students. The curriculum is on par with that
of the best international institutions in the field of Social Work, while
taking into account the specific requirements of the Social Work profession in
the Indian context. The MSW program maintains a healthy balance between
classroom sessions and field practice.
M. J. M. C.
The program offers specialization in Mass
Communication to the interdisciplinary graduands converging to the course. This
course imparts conceptual modes of understanding critically, how the society is
liaised by the media world. A comprehensive training in both technical skills
and critical analysis of the media spectrum is transduced to the prospective
students. The course stimulates the students to become PROs, creative heads,
competitive directors and producers in the film fraternity and advertising
agencies by nurturing and augmenting the video production and broadcasting
skills in the students.
M. SC. IN MATHEMATICS
The two year M. Sc. in Mathematics program offered
at Amrita upskills graduates with a strong mathematical background into
versatile intellects by developing their skills to solve real problems.
Students are expected to be competent enough to formulate problems and models
in mathematical terms from sketchy descriptions, perform mathematical analysis,
expand numerical methods, scribe a computer algorithms which provides sensible
solutions to the problem and illustrate these results to an end user who can
either be a client, student from peer groups etc. Due emphasis is put on the
necessity of procedural problem solving skills.
M. SC. IN CHEMISTRY

Commerce in Finance and Systems offered at School of Arts and Sciences, Mysore

M. A. ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE
The core courses of the M.A English Language and
Literature programme are designed with a view to give the students a deep
knowledge of British literature. Courses in Linguistics, Literary Criticism,
Contemporary Literary Theory, Post-Independence Indian Writing in English,
Research Methodology for Language and Literature and Contemporary Fiction are
also highlights of the programme. It has a wide variety of electives comprising
American, Canadian, Australian literatures, Comparative Literature, Indian
Literature in Translation, Black Literature, 20th Century American Literature,
Women’s Studies and Film Studies. The course aims at giving the learners
essential language skills, vital for employability, while instilling in them
the maturity for aesthetic enjoyment, for understanding and appreciating
values- social, cultural and spiritual so that they are moulded into
responsible human beings.
