This training programme is the latest in a series of training courses organized by the National Academy of Agricultural Research Managcmcni (NAARM). Hyderabad in Geographical Information System (GIS). Remote Sensing (RS) and applications using open source technologies.
GIS is plays an important role in agriculture production throughout the world by helping farmers increase production, reduce costs, and manage their land more efficiently. Open Source Web based GIS plays an import an l role in providing value added services to end users. Due to lack of awareness in Open Source Softwares many researchers not addressed the spatial problems in their research works in ICAR / SAUs. This training programme emphasis mainly on effectively address the spatial variations using Open source softwares with Zero Budgeting on softwares The training programme will consists of lectures , Hands on experiences and a project
The aim of this training programme is to enhance competence of NARS professionals in understanding GIS, GPS and RS and applying these principles in Agricultural Sciences. This will consists of lectures. Hands on experiences and a project that will assist in maintaining momentum in utilizing the applications of GIS. GPS and RS in an effective way in agricultural research

Objectives
This training programme is designed with the twin goals of understanding and applying GIS tools in agriculture, and to develop a decision support framework for managing agricultural production systems for sustainability. GIS tools are central to such a framework. The specific objectives of the programme are:
1. To introduce the concepts and applications of GIS and RS in Agriculture using open source GIS and related spatial technologies like remote sensing and image processing
2. To introduce relevanl definitions, concepts, indicators and framework lo formulate and resolve questions related to agricultural production
systems.
3. To provide hands-on experience on gcospalial knowledge management case studies using of Kree and Open Source GIS tools

Course contents
GIS& RS concepts and its application in agriculture
Introduction to Free and Open Source Software's (FOSS) tools w.r.t GIS &RS
* Case study using Quantum GIS (QGIS)
• Case study using ILWIS for RS applications
Developing spatial databases using ORDBMS (Postgre SQL)
Spatial queries and analysis using PostGIS Open Source Web GIS tools to develop WMS. WFS, WCS services

Eligibility
The NAIP (ICAR) sponsored training programme is open for participants from ICAR InstituteS'State Agricultural Univercities/ Krishi Vigyan Kendrasi1' Senior Executives from Agribusiness. Participants will be selected on the basis of their ability to benefit from the training. The total no. of scats in the training programme will be 25 (Twenty Five only).

Duration
October 21st  to 30th  2013 (both days inclusive). Participants are expected to arrive latest by the evening of October 20th. 2013 and can leave after 1700 hrs on October 30th, 2013.

Board and Lodging
The programme is fully residential, and all participants are expected to stay in the academy's well-furnished Halls of Residence/Scientists Home. The participants will be reimbursed for the journey, to and fro. restricted to AC-II tier train fare or bus fare. Actual TA will be paid on production of original tickets by the participants for journey from the place of duly to NAARM, Hyderabad and back by shortest route. Arrangements for lodging and boarding will be made by host Institute.

Travel
Hyderabad is well connected by air, rail, and road with all parts of the country. The Academy would not be able to make arrangements to receive the participants at their alighting point. Participants may reach the Academy, located in the Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University campus in Rajendranagar, by hiring taxi/auto. Participants are advised to make their return journey reservation at their end. in advance, as it will be difficult to get reservation after their arrival at N A A R VI.

About MTTS: The mathematics training and talent search (MTTS) programme is one of the most popular and significant summer training programme in India. MTTS has been running since 1993 and has made an impressive impact on mathematical scene in the country. The aim of this programme is to promote mathematical thinking and expose young minds to the excitement of doing mathematics.

Every year the MTTS-headquarter receive a large number of applications from all parts of the country. Due to limitation of resources and seats, a large number of deserving students do not get an opportunity to participate in main camp of the MTTS. In order to provide opportunities to more number of students at regional levels, a Mini-MTTS programme has been initiated and which runs on the same line as the main MTTS.

A two week Mini Mathematics Training and Talent Search (Mini-MTTS) Programme will be organized during December 9-21, 2013 at the School of Basic Sciences, IIT Bhubaneswar to provide an opportunity to Mathematics students in the Eastern Region, in particular the state of Odisha for imparting training in basics of Mathematics.

Academic Programmes: There will be courses in Foundations, Linear Algebra and Real Analysis. The aim of the instructions is not to give routine lectures but to involve the students in participatory learning and to think and discover mathematical results. The faculty members are active mathematicians with a commitment to teaching and are from various leading institutions.

Eligibility: First year or Second year B.Sc. (Hons) students in Mathematics.

Selection: The selection will be purely on merit, based on consistently good academic record and the recommendation letter from the mathematics professor closely acquainted with the candidate.

Candidates selected for the programme will be paid sleeper class return train fare or state bus transport fare by the shortest route and will be provided free board and lodging for the entire duration of the course.
Only those candidates who will complete the program successfully will be provided certificate

Applications have been invited by University Grants Commission from young Indian scholars to be awarded by Raman Fellowship for Post Doctoral Research in United States of America which provide them an opportunity to have international collaborative research opportunities, training in advanced techniques and technologies in emerging fields, thereby furthering their research capacity and ability to contribute to higher education with global perspective and forging long-term relationships with distinguished experts in these fields in USA.

ELIGIBILITY:      
·         The applicant should be a permanent teacher in a university/institution recognized by UGC under 2(f) and 12B of UGC Act.
·         The applicant should possess at least 60 per cent marks or equivalent in the post-graduate degree.
·         The applicant should possess a Ph.D. degree in respective academic discipline (Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Science, Engineering, Technology, Agricultural Sciences) or MD/MS/Ph.D. in Medical Sciences.
·         The Applicant must provide proof of having carried out independent research work published in peer reviewed journals preferably indexed.
·         The applicant should be of age up to 40 years as on 31 December 2012.
·         The reservation will be available in accordance with the national norms.

AMOUNT OF FELLOWSHIP:
The Fellow will be entitled to fellowship amount of US $ 3000 per month. The minimum period of the fellowship would be 6 months and maximum period of fellowship would be 12 months.

Fellow will also be entitled to a one time personal contingency grant of upto a maximum of Rs. 50,000 to cover for visa, airport transfer, medical insurance etc. Medical insurance expenses, visa fee, airport transfer charges will be met by the fellow from out of this personal contingency grant.

Fellow will also be permitted to travel within USA to attend conferences or visit other institutes of interest with the approval of the advisor at the host institute. The Fellow will be entitled to avail one of the following grants for this purpose.

i) Grant of $ 600 for fellowship period upto 6 months
ii) Grant of $ 1200 for fellowship period beyond 6 months
Air-tickets for all the selected Fellow would be purchased by the respective university/institution by economy class for shortest route from their place of work in India to the place of the American host institute and back. The actual ticket amount would be reimbursed by UGC to the institution for the same on submission of all relevant documents duly certified by the competent authority of the institution.

Rules governing payment of salary, leave, medical, gratuity, GPF and pension etc. of the organization/ institution/ university to which the fellow belongs would continue to be applicable. No liability on any of these accounts will be borne by UGC.

The candidate selected for the award for this fellowship should commence their research within six month period from the date of award announcement. Failure to do so would render the fellow to forfeit the award.

Subject: DoPT Internship Scheme, 2013

Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India has decided to initiate an Internship Scheme from 1n September 2013. This Scheme seeks to engage Indian Nationals, who are Graduate /Post Graduate or Research Students enrolled in reputed University/ Institution within India or abroad and preferably specializing in HR and associated subjects in Public Policy and Public Administration, as "Interns". These "interns" shall be attached within the Department and would be expected to supplement the process of analysis within the Department through desirable empirical collection and collation of in-house and other information. For the "Interns" the exposure to the functioning of the Indian Government may be an add-on in furthering their own career goals in the NPO Sector or International Organizations.
2. Through this circular, applications are invited for up to ten slots of "interns" within the Department of Personnel and Training for the Financial Year 2013-14.
3. The Terms and Conditions along with the eligibility criteria for the applicants to the Scheme are as under:

3.1Name of the Scheme: The DoPT Internship Scheme, 2013
3.2 The Scheme: To allow short term attachment of "eligible persons" with the different Wings of the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India as 'Interns' on the basis of an online application system and sorted on defined "eligibility" and "suitability" criteria by a "Screening Committee" constituted for the purpose by Secretary, DoPT.
3.3 Objectives of the Scheme: The Scheme has the following stated objectives:
a. To allow young academic talent to be associated with the Departmental work for mutual benefit.
b. The "Interns" may benefit by getting an exposure to the Government functioning and the Policy issues in Human Resource Management in Government of India and contribute to the Policy formulation by generating policy inputs such as empirical analysis, briefing reports, policy papers etc.
c. Department may benefit from the additional resources in the form of young talents and their outputs which will add to its policy formulation base.
3.4 Eligible Persons: Following persons are eligible to apply for the scheme:
a. The applicant should be a citizen of India.
b. The applicant should be a Graduate /Post Graduate or Research Student enrolled in reputed University/ Institution within India or abroad and preferably specializing in HR and associated subjects in Public Policy.
3.5 Duration of Internship: The period of Internship shall be for a minimum period of 2 months but shall not exceed six months in individual cases.
3.6 No. of Interns: A maximum of ten Interns may be hired at any given time by the Department on a token remuneration basis. Department may also hire equal number of unpaid interns especially during the summer vacation months of the Universities when the supply side may be very strong if it may be justified on the basis of value of such engagement for the department.
3.7 Remuneration for the Interns: Interns may be given a stipend of Rs. 10,000 p.m necessary to meet the conveyance and other daily needs of the Interns. It is neither a job nor a promise for job in the future.
3.8 Application and Selection: DoPT shall develop an online application and sorting of plan along with the time lines. The first month stipend shall be released subject to this submission. After completion, the Intern shall submit the project both in a hard copy and a soft copy to the concerned Joint Secretary of the Wing. Where it may be desirable to have a wider consultation on the report the same may be presented in the SOM or a meeting organized for the purpose. A Certificate shall be given by the Department to the Interns after they have completed their tenure and submitted their project Report. The project Reports shall be placed on the DoPT website as well.
3.11 Responsibility of the Wing Heads: The Interns shall be attached to Division heads who shall ensure timely initiation of the work plan and final submission of the Project Report.
Important issues arising out of such issues and policy suggestions based on it may be presented to the Secretary(P) on a quarterly basis.
3.12.Annual Report: The Administration wing may compile an annual Report on the Projects completed during the year and policy suggestions emanating from it.
3.13 Scheme Review: The Scheme in its present form is proposed for two years. A Review of the Scheme may be undertaken after one year and necessary changes may be made.
NB: . As the development of a suitable software by the N/C (as indicated above) may take some time to be in place, the Competent Authority has allowed relaxation for one year from the "online application process" (as envisaged in the Scheme) and start the scheme through applications in hard copy which shall be placed on the departmental website for easy access to the prospective applicants.
4. While the application and selection process shall be as per Para 3.8 above, the first set of applications received up to 15th of September, 2013 shall be considered for selection by the "Screening Committee".
5. For the Financial Year 2013-14 applications in the enclosed Performa may be sent by the interested candidates by post or by hand to Director, Administration, DoPT; Room No.5A ,North Block, New Delhi.

In case of vacancy arising during a particular month all the available on-line applications till the last day of the month during which the vacancy(s) arise(s) shall be considered and sorted on the basis of the eligibility criteria which shall be fixed at the beginning of each Financial Year.
NIC shall in consultation with the Department generate the eligibility list by 10 th of the following month in which vacancy(s) arise. The final selection shall be made by a Standing Committee constituted for the purpose by the Secretary, DoPT by 15th of the Month. All necessary administrative and financial approvals shall be obtained by the administrative section of the DoPT and issue communication to the selected interns to join within seven days.
3.9 Logistics and Support: Interns will be required to have their own laptops. Department shall provide them working space, internet facility and other necessities as deemed fit by the Wing heads.
3.10 Expected Outcomes: The Interns shall prepare the outline of the expected outcome in discussion with the Director and the Joint Secretary and submit to the Wing the project.

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) will be conducted on Sunday, January 6, 2013.The test will be conducted by XLRI on behalf of the Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI).The test score is used by more than 100 institutes. Registration for XAT 2013 - visit: www.xatonline.net.in

A candidate can register for XAT through online payment using credit card/debit card for an amount of Rs.950/- (Rs.650/- for SC/ST candidates). He/she then has to send the XAT confirmation page (that has to be downloaded after registering for XAT) to XAT Office. OR Candidate can register for XAT through cash payment. After successfully completing the registration, the candidate has to download the XAT pay-in-slip. A non- refundable amount of Rs. 950/- (Rs.650/- for SC/ST candidates) is to be tendered to the nearest branch of IDBI Bank. The transaction number provided by the bank in the pay-in-slip has to be entered in the registration webpage and download the XAT confirmation page and send to XAT Office, along with the XLRI's copy of XAT pay-in-slip. OR
A candidate can also register for XAT through demand draft (DD). A candidate has to first make a non-refundable DD for Rs. 950/- (Rs.650/- for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of "XLRI Jamshedpur A/c XAT" payable at Jamshedpur and then register for XAT. He/she then has to send the XAT confirmation page (that has to be downloaded after registering for XAT) along with the DD to XAT Office.

XAT REGISTRATION From August 20,2012 to November 30,2012




The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) for admission to Business Management (BM), Human Resources Management (HRM), Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) and General Management Programme (GMP) at XLRI, Jamshedpur, will be held on 6th January, 2013 (Sunday), in 38 cities across the country and 3 cities outside India. XAT 2013 will have three sections `English Language Ability and Logical Reasoning' (EL), 'Quantitative Ability' (QA) and 'Decision Making' (DM).

Exam Centres: XAT 2013 would be conducted across India in the following cities. Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Berhampur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi, Goa, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mehboobnagar(A.P), Mumbai, Nagpur, Noida, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Surat, Trivandrum, Vadodara, Varanasi, Vijaywada, Visakhapatnam. XAT 2013 would also be conducted across the following four international cities. Colombo, Dhaka, Dubai, Kathmandu.

To register for XAT, applicants will have to fill the XAT Form that will be made available online at www.xatonline.net.in.  The last date for XAT registration is 30th November, 2012 and the last date for Receipt of XAT forms is 5th December, 2012.

Once an applicant logs on to this site, a full set of instructions will appear. He/She can obtain his/her ID and password by following these instructions. This ID and password are to be indicated for all the future correspondence with the XAT Office, Jamshedpur.

Application to XLRI : Application form to apply for XLRI will be available only online at www.xatonline.net.in from 20th August 2012. The XAT ID and password has to be used to apply to XLRI. A full set of instructions will appear guiding the candidates to register for admission to XLRI, once the applicant logs on to this site. 

The last date for XLRI registration is 31st December, 2012 and the last date for receipt of XLRI forms is 5th January, 2013.

For admission to PGDM (HRM/BM), NRI/PIO/Foreign candidates can apply either through XAT or by GMAT score for GMAT between January 2010 and 31st December 2012. They should register online for applying to XLRI at www.xatonline.net.in

For Executive PGDM (GMP), those from all categories can apply either through XAT or by GMAT score for GMAT between January 2010 and 31st December 2012. They should register online for applying to XLRI at www.xatonline.net.in.

A candidate may apply for a maximum of three Programmes. Those who apply for multiple Programmes may be called for multiple interviews and/or group discussions. The selection criteria for different Programmes may differ depending on the nature of the Programme.

While preparing the short-listed candidates for the interview, in addition to XAT performance, academic ability and the relevant work experience may also be considered. Besides performance in the personal interviews (and/or group discussions), XAT performance, relevant work experience, academic ability, extra curricular activities etc. will also be considered while preparing the final list. For candidates who can not be present physically for the XLRI interviews due to their being out of the country, interviews would be carried out in on-line mode via Internet.

XAT 2012 Cut-Off: For Human Resource Management Programme total 1372 applicants were short listed for Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The XAT cut-offs for HRM was 80 percentile in EL, 80 percentile in DM, 70 percentile in QA and overall 88 percentile.

For Business Management Programme total 955 applicants were short listed for Personal Interview. The XAT cut-offs for BM was 70 percentile in EL, 80 percentile in DM, 92 percentile in QA and overall 90 percentile. The XAT Score Card containing the performance of the candidate in XAT 2013 will be mailed individually to all the candidates.
