Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) 2012

In the areas of:
Communication, Finance and Accoounting, Economics, Information systems, Marketing Management, Operations Management and Quantitative Techniques, Organiational Behaviour and HRM, Stategic Management and Entrepreneurship.


ADMISSION
The FPM seeks high quality candidates with strong academic background, preferably with professional experience, and intellectual curiosity needed for scholarship in management.

Eligibility
Candidates should have:
a Master’s degree* in any discipline, with at lease 55 per cent marks (High second class) and at least 50% marks at Bachelor’s degree level
OR
a Bachelor’s degree** with complete professional qualifications like CA, ICWA, CS with at least 55 percent marks and with minimum of two years post-qualification work experience
OR
a B.E./B.Tech. Degree with at least 60 per cent marks with a minimum of two years’ post-qualification work experience.

Those appearing for the final year Master’s degree* examination or its equivalent may also apply, subject to completion of all the requirements before the registration date, i.e. end- June of the current year.

*Candidates who are in the final year of their Master’s Programme are eligible to apply. Such candidates, if selected will be permitted to join the programme provisionally subject to the submission of a certificate, issued on or before June 30 of the current year, from the head of the institution implicitly emphasizing that they have completed all requirements for obtaining the degree before June 30 of the current year.

**The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.

Unique Opportunity for Teachers:
IIM Indore provides a unique opportunity to teachers working as regular-full time faculty in any business school/college recgonized by AICTE/UGC for a period of at least 3 years as on 31st March 2012. For details see the website.

FELLOWSHIP:
The fellowship covers all academic and living expenses. In addition the FPM participants get a monthly stipend of Rs.15000/- both in the first year and second year and Rs.20000/- in the third year and the fourth year.

Procedure
Applications for admission to the FPM are invited at the same time when the advertisement of Common Admission Test [CAT] is released. Applicants can choose upto three areas of specialization while applying. Application should be submitted on a prescribed application form available from FPM office by a specified date along with a demand draft of Rs 300/ -

Following categories of candidates are considered for admission:

Candidates having a CAT/GMAT score (valid for all areas)
Candidates having GRE/GATE score (valid for selected areas like OM & QT, Information System)
Candidates having qualified UGC/CSIR JRF Research test (valid for all areas)
Candidates not having any score may appear for a Research Aptitude Test (RAT) to be conducted by the institute on a pre announced date.
Lecturers working in AICTE/UGC recognized university and colleges on a full time basis for a minimum period of three years in management related areas.

Short-listed candidates are called for interview and further evaluation in Indore.


Waiver
i. Alumni of IIMs (PGP, PGP-ABM, PGP-PMP, PGPX) are eligible to apply for exemption of first year PGP courses, provided the candidate has obtained in the first year of the above degree/diploma a minimum grade point equivalent to 2.55, with no Fs and not more than two Ds.

ii. Similar program of other universities/Business Schools are eligible to apply for exemption of first year PGP courses, provided they satisfy the following conditions:

a) The candidate should have completed a full-time, two year MBA degree, two year PG Diploma in Management or one year PGPX, one year PGP-PMP (or equivalent) in Management from any recognised University / Business School / Institution.

b) The candidate should have obtained in the first year of the above degree/diploma a minimum average grade point equivalent to IIMI’s 2.55, with no Fs and not more than two Ds.

c) The candidates should have obtained the qualifying degree or diploma, not more than five years ago, with respect to the beginning of the first term of the FPM programme into which she/he is seeking admission.

The granting of the waiver is not automatic. The final decision related to the waiver is made by the FPM EC by taking into account all relevant factors, including:

• The quality and content of the program (MBA/PGDM/PGP-ABM etc.) undergone by the candidate. The FPM Executive committee will come up with a list of such institutions in order to have transparency.

• The performance of the candidate in the program.

• The FPM EC, on applying its criteria, can grant full, partial, or no waiver to the candidate.


Validity of Score: Two years from the date of the standard test and should be valid on the deadline of submission of the application form

Selection to the programme is based on performance in:
1. CAT/GMAT or other standard tests as specified
2. Personal Interview
3. Academic Work
4. Relevant Work Experience [teaching, research, management etc.]
5. Any other, as decided by FPMC.

FPM at IIMI

At least 3 years of experience in executive capacity in an organisation of repute in the public, private or non-governmental sector. Self-employed persons should have minimum 5 years of experience after obtaining qualifying degree;

Age limit: Completed 24 years as on 01.07.2012; and

No Objection or sponsorship certificate from the employer.

Eligible candidates will be called for Personal Interview session at Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata or Mumbai. Screening for interviews will be based on a candidate's past academic performance and relevant work experience. Candidates will have to meet their own travel expenses.


PROGRAMME DESIGN:
This three-year part-time programme is designed for executives, working anywhere in the country. The curriculum is as rigorous as our two-year full-time PGDM programme. The participants will reside in the campus for about 15 days at a stretch (total 8 times for the entire programme), thrice a year (15x3=45 days in a year). In the intervening period, they are expected to complete the assigned readings and projects.

Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)

ELIGIBILITY:
Postgraduates in any discipline (or professional field) related to management with at least 55% marks (or graduate engineers with at least 55% marks and having at least 2 years of work experience) are eligible to apply for the FPM. In case the score is available on a letter-grade system, the Institute expects a minimum cumulative score of 4.80 on an 8-point scale (or 6.00 on a 10-point scale). Although the eligibility criteria are defined in these terms, the Institute prefers applicants who have excellent academic record as well as rich managerial experience.

Admission Test:
You must write any one of the following written tests: CAT, GATE, UGC NET, XAT, or the XIMB Research Aptitude Test (XIMB-RAT). About the Programme
The Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) is the doctoral programme of Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB). The FPM at IIMB is globally recognized as a rigorous and interdisciplinary research programme in all areas of business management and public policy. The programme is committed to training individuals who will excel in their area of research through publication quality work of international standard.


Areas of Specializations
FPM Students specialize in one of the following Areas:

Duration of the Programme
Students are expected to complete the programme within 5 years. In the past, a few students have completed the programme within 4 years. The maximum duration of the programme is 7 years.


Student Intake
The total number of candidates admitted to this programme each year is around 30.

Eligibility
Candidates should have

We encourage candidates to submit valid test scores from either CAT (2011), or GRE/ GMAT/ GATE/ JRF/ NET but will also accept applications without any test score. Candidates taking the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) must have the official result reported to the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB). The GRE code number for IIMB Fellow Programme in Management is 7385.

The Master's degree or equivalent qualification/ Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification should be

Such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally only if they submit a certificate latest by June 30, 2012 from the Principal/ Head of the Department/ Registrar or Director of the University/ Institute (issued on or before June 30, 2012) stating that they have appeared for the examinations (including practical examinations) in all the subjects required for obtaining the Master's/ Bachelor's degree/ equivalent qualification. Their admission will be confirmed only when they submit the mark sheet and a certificate of having passed the Master's/ Bachelor's degree/ equivalent qualification referred to in the certificate issued by Principal/ Registrar of their college/ Institute. The deadline for submission of mark sheet and the certificate is December 31, 2012. Please note that those candidates who have applied on the basis of their master's degree will have to meet the 55% marks stipulation, and those who have applied on the basis of their bachelor's degree will have to meet the 60% marks stipulation. Non -fulfillment of these conditions will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.


Selection
Based on the information provided by the applicants, shortlisted candidates will be called to Bangalore for a Research Aptitude Test (RAT) and interview for final selection. Selection will be based on the applicant's performance in CAT/ GRE/ GMAT/ GATE/ JRF/ NET as applicable, past academic performance, work experience, and aptitude for research. RAT and Interviews are expected to be held in the first week of March 2012. Selected candidates are required to attend the preparatory course which is expected to be scheduled in the first week of June 2012. Registration for the programme will be during the last week of June 2012.

Financial Support
FPM students in good standing will receive a total support of Rs 2,88,000 per annum in addition to tuition waiver, to cover their living expenses, books and materials, insurance and other contingency expenses. Also during the programme the following support is available to the students.
• Start up grant of Rs 50,000 to meet expenses on purchasing hardware, software, data base etc.
National Conference grants up to Rs 10,000 each for two conferences.
• One International Conference grant up to Rs 1,00,000 on a competitive basis.
