The Post Graduate Programme in Software Enterprises
Management (PGSEM) at IIM Bangalore has been re-launched as the Post Graduate
Programme in Enterprise Management (PGPEM).
The Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise
Management (PGPEM), leading to a Post Graduate Diploma in Enterprise
Management, is a two-year Post Graduate Programme that targets executives from
all sectors of business.
The Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise
Management (PGPEM) endeavors to provide professional management education to
middle and senior professionals of the industry. It aims to transform
professionals with strong technical knowledge into business leaders with
management perspectives that are relevant to a dynamic environment.
The programme is designed to meet the needs of the
participants, while maintaining the credit requirements and academic rigor of
the course. It allows a participant to graduate with the diploma at the end of
two academic years, while continuing to work at his/her regular place of
employment.
Each academic year is subdivided into four quarters
of ten weeks each. The regular course load in a quarter is three courses of
three credits each. Each three-credit course consists of 30 hours of classroom
contact. Participants normally have nine hours of classroom contact per week,
with classes scheduled on Friday mornings and Saturdays. The modular design of
the programme allows participants to tailor (within certain parameters) the
sequence of courses. After completion of the first year, participants have the
flexibility to take a break from the programme for one quarter or more, if
necessitated by work-related assignments. Each participant is required to
complete the stipulated credits of the programme within a maximum of five
academic years. There is a project work component included in the curriculum.
The PGPEM has been structured around core and
elective subjects. The core courses are distributed in the four quarters of the
first year (36 credits). Participants are expected to take elective subjects
for the remaining credits during the next four quarters in the second year of
the course (36 credits which includes project work for 3 or 6 credits).
Participants of the PGPEM, with the approval of
their employers, can avail of exchange opportunities at foreign universities
who partner with IIMB.
Eligibility
Criteria
Participants are admitted to the programme based on
a combination of requirements:
- The candidate must hold a Bachelor's Degree of
any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State
legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of
Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 UGC Act,
1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD,
Government of India. Candidates who have Bachelors from any foreign countries
are also eligible. The Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification obtained
by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after
completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent. Diploma holders
cannot apply to this programme unless they also possess a Bachelor's degree.
- The applicant needs to have a minimum of three
years of experience in any industry as on April 1, 2014.
Admission
Requirements
For the PGPEM batch starting 2014, applicants must
mandatorily choose any one of these
three options for selection:
- Applicants may take the Common Admission Test
(CAT 2013) conducted jointly by the IIMs and indicate that they want to apply
for the PGPEM in the CAT 2013 Application Form. The CAT 2013 scores will be
used in their application process. Please see the CAT IIM website at http://www.cat2013.iimidr.ac.in/ for more details on CAT.
A separate application has to be submitted for
PGPEM between November 01, 2013-January 20, 2014 with the CAT 2013 score.
(Details are provided in the section 'How to Apply'.)
- Applicants may take GMAT. Those who have already
taken the test may upload a copy of their valid GMAT scores along with the
application. . Those who are going to
take the test may have the score sent directly to IIMB. The GMAT Code for IIMB
PGPEM is Q9H-KK-32. A separate application has to be submitted for PGPEM
between November 01, 2013-January 20, 2014 with the GMAT score. (Details are
provided in the section 'How to Apply'.)
- Applicants may also take GRE. Those who have
already taken the test may attach a copy of their GRE scores along with the
application. Those who are going to take the test may have the score sent
directly to the PGPEM Office. The GRE Code for IIMB PGPEM will be notified
during application process. A separate application has to be submitted for
PGPEM between with the GRE score. (Details are provided in the section 'How to
Apply'.)
No other test will be considered in lieu of the
above options.
Interviews will be conducted for short-listed
candidates in Bangalore only. At the time of interview, candidates are required
to produce letters of approval from their employers indicating that they are
permitted to pursue the programme. Final selection will be made based on the
prior academic performance, duration and nature of work experience,
CAT/GMAT/GRE scores, and performance in the interview.
Candidates who are unable to attend the interview
at the defined location and on the specified date may be interviewed through
video-conference. This facility is available subject to the following
conditions:
- This facility will be made available at the
discretion of the institute.
- Requests should be made at least 15 days ahead of
the scheduled interview date.
- Video interviews will be held during the
specified interview period only, at a date and time indicated by IIMB. No
extension of date or other changes will be permitted.
- Arrangements for video conferencing at the
candidate's location have to be made by the candidate on the date and at the
time specified.
- The duration of such an interview is expected to
be about 30 minutes, provided there is good connectivity and transmission. In
the event of poor connectivity, the time may be extended at the discretion of
the Admissions committee.
How to
Apply & 2014 Admissions Calendar
Applications for the PGPEM at IIMB would be
available at www.iimb.ernet.in beginning November 1,
2013.
The
following documents are to be enclosed along with the application:
- Valid GMAT/GRE score
- CAT score (2013)
- A Statement of Purpose (SoP) for joining the
programme
- Company approval form (to be submitted at the
time of the interview)
- Application fee of Rs. 500/- for candidates
applying through CAT/ GMAT/ GRE
There will be an Open House at IIMB on August 31,
2013.
Programme
Fees
The total fee for 2 years is Rs. 13,00,000/-. It is
payable in 8 quarters at Rs. 1,62,500 per quarter. The first installment of the
fee, which is the equivalent of one's quarter's fee, is payable before the
start of classes. The balance is payable on a quarterly basis, prior to
comencement of classes.
If a student needs to continue beyond two academic
years to meet the programme's credit requirememts, she/he has to pay a
continuation fee of INR 20,000 per quarter till she/he completes the credit
requirements of the programme. The continuous fee per quarter is payable
irrespective of whether a participant takes course in a quarter or not (subject
to a maximum of five years).
