applications for M.Tech, M.Arch & MURP Admission of Autumn Semester
2015-16.

M.Tech./M.Arch./MURP can be referred from the link:
HOW TO APPLY:
For admission to PG programmes 2015 candidates need
to register and fill the application ONLINE only by accessing http://pgadm.iitr.ernet.in on or
before April 09, 2015. Then the candidates are required
to finalize the online application and download the application and Bank
Challan simultaneously from http://pgadm.iitr.ernet.in
and then deposit the requisite fee in
any branch of State Bank of India throughout the country on or before April 11,
2015.
Candidates may seek admission to more than one
department (maximum four departments and 14 programmes). The candidate must
enclose the IITR's copy of challan with the Application for a total amount (Rs.
400/- for General/OBC category and Rs. 200/- (for SC/ST/PD category candidate
plus Rs.100/- per additional number of Departments applied. For example GEN/OBC
candidate applying for 3 departments required to pay Rs. 600/- and SC/ST/PD Rs.
400/- depending on their category).
A candidate should submit one Application only.
Choices (max. 14) once given shall not be changed for any reason after
submission of Online application form).

Eligibility for Admission:
P.G. Dip./M.Tech Water Resources Development:
Bachelor's Degree in
Civil/Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics & Tele-Communication Engineering or
its equivalent.
P.G. Dip./M.Tech Irrigation Water Management:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engg. or equivalent
/Agricultural Engineering or its equivalent or M.Sc. Agriculture in Agronomy,
Soil Science, Agro meteorology with mathematics as one of the paper at the
level ofB.Sc./B.Sc. Agriculture.
Minimum Marks:
For General/OBC category candidates minimum 60 % or
CGPA 6.00 onlO point scale marks or equivalent grade is required.
For SC/ST/PD (Person with Disability) candidates'
minimum 55% or CGPA 5.5 on 10 point scale marks or equivalent grade is
required.
Experience (for sponsored candidate)
(A) Full
time sponsored candidates must have a minimum of two years of full-time work
experience till the last date submission of application form in responsible
capacity in a Registered Firm/Company/Industry/Educational and Research Institution/Govt./Quasi
Govt./Autonomous Organization in the relevant field in which admission is being
sought. The Firm/Company/Industry shall either be a public sector undertaking
or a public limited undertaking registered in a stock exchange or a private concern
whose annual turnover during the past 2 years exceeds Rs. 5.0 crores. For a
candidate employed in an educational Institution, it should be recognized by
AICTE.
(B) Candidates
having AMIE/AMIS/AMIIChE/AMIIM/Grad IETE, who possess B.Sc. or Diploma in engineering
and have at least three years research, teaching or other professional
experience at the submission of last date of application acquired after passing
the qualifying examination in relevant field, are also eligible to apply for
admission to M.Tech. Courses.

Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee has invited applications for Ph.D. Admission of Autumn Semester 2012-13.
Admissions Eligibility:
(1) An applicant should possess the following qualifications in appropriate areas to be eligible to apply for admission for the PhD programme of the Institute.
(a) Master’s degree in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Urban & Rural Planning / Pharmacy / Computer Applications of 3 years duration after graduation in respective discipline or equivalent with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.00 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institute wherever letter grades are awarded; or 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) where marks are awarded.
OR
(b) Master’s degree in Sciences/Humanities & Social Sciences/ Management in respective discipline or equivalent with a valid NET (CSIR / UGC) / NET (LS) or valid GATE or valid GPAT score and minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.00 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institute where letter grades are awarded; or 60% marks where marks are awarded.
OR
(c) BTech / BArch degree or equivalent in respective discipline with excellent academic record (with a minimum CGPA of 7.0 on a 10 point scale or equivalent or 70% marks) and in possession of a valid GATE score.
(2) The admission eligibility requirements may be relaxed to 5.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent, or to 55% marks to the following categories:
a. SC / ST candidates with Master’s degree.
b. Any category of PD (Persons with disabilities) Candidate holding BTech degree or equivalent degree.
c. Academic staff of the Institute who has an experience of more than 5 years.
(3) Eligibility for Part-time PhD
a) The applicant possesses the minimum entry qualifications for the degree as given above.
b) The applicant proves that his official duties permit him to devote sufficient time to research;
c) He / She will be required to reside at the Institute for a period of not less than 6 months during his / her registration for the degree. (This condition of minimum residence period will be automatically waived for candidates who are working in Roorkee or in Organizations / institutions located within a distance of 100 km from the Institute).
d) The facility of part time registration will also be available to all employees of the IIT Roorkee or candidates working in organizations having MoU with IITR or organizations approved by IIT Roorkee as Research Centres. Such applicants are exempted from the requirement of having valid GATE / NET / GPAT.
e) The applicants must have been in continuous service with the sponsoring organization for at least two years at the time of submitting the application form for admission

The candidate is required to download Bank Challan Proforma from pgadm.iitr.ernet.in and then deposit the requisite fee of Rs. 200/- in any branch of Punjab National Bank throughout the country on or before the the last date i.e. April 20, 2012.

Research Awards 2011 (IIT Roorkee)
IIT Roorkee has invited nominations/self nominations for the following Research Awards for the Year 2011:
Khosla National Award , Shamsher Prakash Research Award , Mahesh Varma Construction Research Award , S.R. Mehra Memorial Award, A.S. Arya HTR Disaster Prevention Award ,V. N. MM. Award, Gopal Ranjan Research Award
WHO CAN APPLY?
Nominations can be submitted for all the above Awards by any of the following authorities in the proforma available at website http://www.iitr.ernet.in

3. Presidents of National Scientific and Engineering Academics & Societies.

AWARDS AND DETAILS:
1. Khosla National Award
Khosla National Award of Rs. 51,000/- is given annually to an eminent Engineer/Scientist/Technologist from various disciplines for lifetime achievements irrespective of their association with NT Roorkee. The award will also include a citation and a gold medal. The award will be open to Indian Nationals only, for original research work and/or application to real life problems for the work done in India.
2. A.S. Arya HTR Disaster Prevention Award
The award is made for outstanding contribution in the area of Disaster Prevention / Mitigation. The term disaster shall include ail types of Natural Disasters, Earthquakes, Cyclones, Floods, Land Slides, Forest Fires and Snow Avalanche. The Annual Award consists of a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/-.
• The award is open to citizens of India, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh and will be given on the work done in one or more of these countries.
• He/She shall have distinguished himself/herself through outstanding work and internationally recognized action, going beyond the scope of his/her
normal functions in one or more of the following
The implementation at national or regional level, of activities designed to strengthen people's awareness of natural disasters.
The launching of scientific activities contributing to technological innovation facilitating disaster prediction.
The launching of scientific activities contributing to the strengthening disaster prevention and preparedness.
The promotion of activities which reduce the economic impact of disasters and which contribute to sustainable developments.
Other activities integrating disaster prevention and preparedness into development planning.
• The award may be given to an individual or a group of individuals for outstanding joint effort in the above areas.
3. Shamsher Prakash Research Award
The Annual Award is made for outstanding work in the field of Geotechnical and/or Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering. It consists of a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/ and is open to a renowned young Indian Engineer, Scientist or Researcher who has not completed 45 years of age on Jan 01, 2011. The award will be primarily based on the research work done in the past five calendar years
4. V. N. MM. Award
The Annual Award of Rs. 50,000/- and a citation is given to an eminent Engineerfor Innovative and Creative Work in the field of Engineering in India in any discipline to Indian National for this work done in India.
5. Mahesh Varma Construction Research Award
One biennial Award of Rs. 15,000/- is made for outstanding contribution by a young Engineer. Technologist or Scientist of Indian nationality through original research for innovations in the field of Construction Technology and Construction Management categorised by Theoretical Work or Applied Research done in India during the five years preceding the year of Award.
6. Gopal Ranjan Research Award
Gopal Ranjan Research Award of Rs. 55,000/- will be given to a deserving person on the basis of his/her 'Creative and Innovative Work' in the fields of Soil Characteristics/Foundation Engineering/ Ground Improvement / Soil Structure Interaction/Engineering Geology/Underground Structures/Rock Mechanics in India. The award shall be available to Indian National or alumni of IIT Roorkee (or its predecessor University of Roorkee) of any nationality
7. S.R. Mehra Memorial Award
Prof S.R. Mehra Memorial Award of the value of Rs. 20,000/- for research in Transportation Engg/ Soil Mechanics. This award is made once in every two years for outstanding contributions made by an Indian engineer, Technologist or scientist through original research in the field of transportation Engg./Soil Mechanics categorized by Theoretical work or applied research done in Indian during the five years preceding the year of award
