Applications are invited for admission to the following programmes

M.S./Ph.D. Programme in Science and Engineering

Integrated Ph.D. Programme in Materials Science, Chemical Science and Biological Science.
Eligibility
For M.S./Ph.D. Programme: students who have qualified in NET-JRF/LS under CSIR/UGC fellowship schemes or DBT/ICMR - JRF or GATE / JEST / INSPIRE/ any other equivalent national level examinations are eligible to apply.

For Integrated Ph.D. Programme

Materials Science: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science. Those with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with an aptitude towards scientific research will also be considered. Candidates are expected to have sound knowledge in the fundamentals of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Chemical Science: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science with Chemistry as a major and mathematics as a subject at least up to PUC (10+2 level).

Biological Sciences: This is offered in two disciplines (a) Evolutionary and Organismal Biology: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics. Those with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with an aptitude towards scientific research will also be considered. (b) Molecular Biology and Genetics: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science.

For all the above Int. Ph.D. programmes, candidates should have a minimum of 55% marks at the Bachelor’s level. Those appearing for the final examination this year can also apply.

PGDSE Admissions 2012


Applications have been invited by Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Jakkur, Bangalore, from teachers with BSc / MSc with or without BEd qualification as well as from individuals who have BSc / MSc qualification interested in science education for admission to Post Graduate Diploma in Science Education of Year 2012.

The training will be imparted through projects and formal courses. The programme is for two semesters beginning from 1 August 2012. A stipend of Rs. 10,000/- per month will be paid to those selected for the programme.

SRF Programme 2012
Summer Research Fellowship Programme

Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore, in association with Dept. of Science and Technology and Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, New Delhi has invited applications for Summer Research Fellowship Programme.

Minimum academic requirements for applying:

Students who have secured not less than 80% in Maths and Science subjects in their 10th and 12th or equivalent examinations and not less than first class in graduation and post-graduation ( if applicable).
Students presently studying in I & II year of BSc, I, II & III year of BE / BTech, I year of MSc and I - IV year of Integrated MSc can apply for Life Sciences and Mathematics.
Students presently studying in II year of BSc, II & III year of BE / BTech, I year of MSc and II - IV year of Integrated MSc can apply for Materials Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering Sciences and Atmospheric Sciences.
The students selected under this programme are placed with scientists at the Centre or elsewhere in India, for 2 months with a stipend of Rs. 6000 /- pm and travel support as per Govt. of India norms.
