 Applications are invited by MG University, Kottayam for admission to the Bachelor of Fashion Technology (BFT) programme offered in affiliated colleges for the academic year 2012-2013.

Duration of the course
The duration of BFT programme is for a period of 3 years consisting of 6 semesters.

Eligibility
Candidate with a pass in Plus Two or equivalent examination recognised by the University, irrespective of streams / subjects are eligible for admission to the programme.
Bonus marks 1) for participation in NCC / NSS 2) for Ex- Servicemen applicants and widows and children of Jawans / Ex-Servicemen will be given as per the existing rules of admission. Reservation for candidates with outstanding records in sports and games shall be allowed as per rules. 3% of the seats under Merit quota are reserved for physically challenged candidates.

How and When to apply :
Application forms can be downloaded from the website www.mgu.ac.in from 15.06.2012 onwards.

An application fee of Rs. 350/- (Rs.150/-for SC / ST candidates) shall be remitted either at the cash counter of the University or at FRIENDS JANASEVANAKENDRAM or by way of MG University Chalan from State Bank of Travancore. Application fee can also be remitted by way of DD drawn in favour of the Finance officer, Mahatma Gandhi University payable at SBT MG University Campus Branch (code No. 669).

Since the admission to the programme under merit and management categories is based on a common rank list prepared by the University based on the marks of qualifying examination and an Entrance Test, all the candidates are required to submit applications in the office of the Assistant Registrar (Acad II), MG University, Priyadarsini Hills, Kottayam PIN 686 560. However, admission to management seats shall be made by the management concerned from the rank list irrespective of the rank secured by the candidate.

A self- addressed stamped envelope (Rs 5/-) shall be enclosed along with the application.
The last date for receipt of filled in application is 25.06.2012.

Mode of  selection  

 Admission to the programme and colleges mentioned  above will be on centralized process based on an entrance test which is mandatory for all candidates.  The selection will be based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and the entrance test in the ratio 50:50.  

The entrance test is of one hour duration consisting of 100 objective type multiple choice questions each of which carries four choices. Answer to the questions shall be marked in a separate sheet (OMR sheet). 

Subject areas included for the entrance test :  

General awareness, 

Creative Aptitude and 

General English. 

Scoring Scheme : Each correct response will be awarded half mark and ¼ mark will be deducted for each incorrect response.  More than one response to a question will be deemed as incorrect response and will be awarded negative marks. Since the test is conducted on OMR basis, there will not be provision for revaluation. 

Centre of Entrance Test

 There will be only one Examination Centre for the Entrance Test. The venue for the entrance test will be mentioned in the Admission Ticket.    

Classification of Seats

 In unaided courses 50% of the seats shall be filled by the managements from among the candidates of their choice from the rank list prepared by the University and the remaining seats(50%) will be Merit Seats.  65% of the Merit Seats shall be filled on general merit and 35% shall be filled by candidates belonging to SC/ST and other backward communities in the order of merit with the following quota for each community.

Ezhava, Thiyya & Billavan   - 9% 

Muslim     - 8% 

Latin Catholic other than Anglo Indians - 2%

Eligibility
Candidates should have passed BA / B.Sc degree exams under the 10+2+3 pattern with one main subject and two subsidiary subjects from M G University or any other university recognized by M G University as equivalent thereto for admission, subject to the stipulation regarding marks.
The minimum requirement for admission to B.Ed course is 50% marks in Bachelor’s degree (Science/Arts subjects) in Part III.
However the eligibility of candidates who have passed degree examination in double/triple main, Model II vocational and other specialized subjects/streams will be governed by rules and regulations of MG university.
In the case of candidates who have passed examinations of other Universities, they will be admitted only if these examinations have been declared equivalent to the qualifying examinations of MG University.

Candidates seeking admission on the basis of the language under Part I & II need 50% marks for the part concerned and 50% for Post Graduate course in the same language. Candidates applying for the course under the language stream with a bachelor’s degree in the subject concerned will be ranked first in that particular stream. Candidates applying for the course under any language stream based on Part I / Part II at under graduate level and having PG Degree in the same subject as in Part I / Part II will be ranked only after that.

Remittance of Fee
i. A sum of Rs. 300/- has to be paid as Registration Fee by all candidates (for SC/ST candidates – Rs.150/-) along with the filled in application form by way of an account payee Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, Mahatma Gandhi University, payable at SBT, Mahatma Gandhi University Campus Branch.
ii. Other fee as shown in the Fees structure has to be paid at the time of admission.
iii.
