The amendments in the Indian Electricity Act, have opened private sector participation in the transmission & Distribution of Power. It has further created a large demand for the trained manpower in Electrical Utilities.
The main objective of the course is to create a technically skilled trained manpower readily available for recruitment to the companies doing business in the areas of Transmission & Distribution of Electrical Power.
This is a Graduate Engineer Program for those who desire to make a career in the Power Sector. On successful completion of this course the Graduate Engineers will find immense opportunities and preference in employment with various power sector companies.
About the Course: This is a job oriented unique course of 26 weeks duration which is conducted by National Power Training Institute (North Eastern Region), at Guwahati.
The course profile covers complete exposure on Operation and Maintenance of Power Transmission & Distribution Systems, as per the syllabus of Indian Electricity Rules
(Rule-3).
Placement: NPTI does not provide any guarantee for placement. However, NPTI maintains close linkages with power utilities for employment of their students. In recent time, NPTI-NER trained engineers have been selected / readily placed in companies of national and international repute.
Eligibility: Bachelor of engineering or equivalent in “Electrical” / “Electrical & Electronics” / “Power Engineering”
Age Limit: Maximum age limit as on 11.11.2011 is 27 years.
Age relaxation for reserved quota as per Govt. norms. No age limit for sponsored candidates.
Selection Criteria for Admission: Percentage of marks obtained in the B.E. or equivalent examination as per University norms.
No. of Seats: 40 (Forty only). 25% seats are reserved for sponsored category. If sponsored candidates are not available, seats will be filled up by Non-sponsored
candidates. Reservation for SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer) & PH will be as per Govt. norms in the non-sponsored category.
Fees:
1) `.1,20,000/- (in two equal installments) for nonsponsored candidates
2) `.1,50,000/- (in one installment) for sponsored candidates.
Additional Fees: Caution money `.2000/- (Refundable) and
Conveyance & Internet charges `.3600/- (one time only).
Placement charge `.15,000/- (refundable if not placed) and hostel rent ` 14,400/- (for six months).
Sponsored Candidates: The candidates sponsored by employer fulfilling the requirements will be admitted directly.
They will have to submit sponsorship letter and experience certificate, photostat copies of appointment letter, last 12 months salary slips and bank statement for the last one year showing the credit of salary in his bank account duly attested by Manager of Bank.
How to apply:
Application on plain paper typed in English in the following format (OR) downloaded application from website www.nptiguwahati.com or www.npti.in along with the demand draft of `.500/- in favour of NPTI-NER payable at Guwahati should reach the Director / HOI latest by 28.10.11 along with two passport size colour photographs:
1. Name, 2. Father’s Name, 3. Date of Birth, 4. Sex, 5. Nationality, 6. Category
(Gen/SC/ST/OBC/PH), 7. Postal Address, 8.Phone/Mobile No & Email, 9. Educational Qualification starting from 10th standard; stating subjects/discipline, Board/University, year of passing, percentage of marks, 10. Experience, 11. Sponsored / Non- sponsored (if sponsored - attach the relevant documents from employer), 12. Application fee details and Signature. Attach self attested copies of proof of item No. 3, 6(if OBC/SC/ST/PH), 9, 10 and 11.
Selected candidates will be informed through email / phone / letter by post
The fees (1st Installment + Additional fees as mentioned above) should be paid at the time of admission.Lodging / Boarding: Facilities available for both boys and girls at a payment of `.2400/- per month per student on twin sharing basis excluding food charges. Hostel rent to be paid at a time for six months at the time of admission.
