Graduate Engineer’s Course in O&M of Transmission & Distribution (2011-2012)

Courses cover mandatory requirements under Indian Electricity (Amendment) Rules, 1981.

WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN? The main aim of the course is to develop a pool of technically trained manpower readily available for recruitment to the Indian Power Sector. Besides, the course shall enhance the knowledge and skills of the engineers
sponsored by the State Electricity Boards, Power Utilities and fresh graduates/ diploma engineers.

ABOUT THE COURSE: This is a modular course of 52 weeks (PDC) and 26 weeks (O&M of T&D) duration respectively. Formal coaching will be held at Regional Institute of NPTi located at Badarpur (New Delhi), On-job training is conducted at the nearby Thermal Power Stations and the training on state-of-the-art Simulator at NPTI Faridabad/Badarpur/Nagpur. The course profile covers the mandatory requirements under Indian Electricity (Amendment), Rules, 1981, which stipulates "No person shall be authorized to operate or undertake maintenance of any part or whole of generating station of capacity 100 MW and above together with the associated sub-station unless he is adequately qualified and has undergone the specified training at a recognized Institute".

ELIGIBILITY:
1. For PDC minimum 60% in 10th and in Diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Power/ Electronics/ Control & Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent. Graduate engineers are not eligible.
2. For O&M of T & D : Minimum 60% in intermiediate / Sr. Sec. and in B.e. or equivalent in Electrical/ Power Egnineering.

SELECTION CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION: Merit-% in qualifying examination.

AGE LIMIT: For non-sponsored candidates the age limit as on 30/09/2011 for PDC is 25 years and 27 years for O&M of T&D. No age limit for the sponsored candidates. Sponsered candidagtes have to send their application through their employer.

TOTAL SEATS: 80* in PDC Thermal and 40* in O&M of T&D courses. Reservation for OBC/SC/ST/Physically challenged as per Govt of India norms. 25% seats are reserved
for candidates sponsored from Power Utilities. If sufficient sponsored candidates are not available, the seats will be filled by non-sponsored candidates.
*the number of seats may be cahnged at the discretion of the NPTI management.

PLACEMENT: Many reputed companies visit NPTI for campus interviews for placement of students and placement fee is charged. Past placement has been very high so far.

HOW TO APPLY:- Applications on plain paper along with the Demand Draft of Rs. 800/- in favor of NPTI, Badarpur payable at New Delhi with Candidate’s name written on its back, with name of the course being applied super scribed on top of envelop containing application, should reach on or before 19.09.11 to The Principal Director, National Power Training Institute (NR), Badarpur, New Delhi-110044 with two passport size photographs in the following format;

There is no fee concession for any category of candidates. The cost of transportation to local industries/utilities will be Rs.4000/- .Outstation transportation/ boarding / lodging charges will be borne by the participants separately. A refundable caution money Rs.2000/- .is to be deposited at the time of joining.

LODGING/ BOARDING: Hostel Facilities is provided on first come first served basis, subject to availability on nominal charges.
Separate hostel for girl candidates.
