For admission in Distance Education Courses and in the constituent colleges of the University, separate advertisement will be given.

1. The application forms of admission for the year 2015-16 will be submitted through On-line system. The candidate can apply for the admission through online after making a payment of Rs1000/- (Rs. 700/- for SC/ST Candidates) and for entrance test Rs 1700/- (for SC/ST Candidates Rs 1400/- ) through Credit/Debit Card or Internet-Banking. Fee for M.Ed., MCA, M.Phil/Ph.D. Entrance Test is Rs. 2000/- (for SC/ST candidates Rs. 1400/-). The Application Fee can also be deposited through Pay-In-Slip in State Bank of Patiala and University Cash Counter (only at Punjabi University Campus, Patiala) .

2. A Candidate who has appeared in the qualifying examination and his/her result is still awaited, may also apply and can submit his/her admission form online as the case may be. He/She has to update his/her online form whenever he/she gets the result till the date given by Centralized Admission Cell (it is in the interest of the applicant), otherwise, he/she will be required to submit his/her result at the time of interview.

Educational Qualifications: (As per Bar Council of India as follows)
(a) Three Year Law Degree Course:
An applicant who has graduated in any discipline of knowledge from a University established by an Act of Parliament or by a State legislature or an equivalent national institution recognized as a Deemed to be University or foreign University recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an authority competent to declare equivalence, may apply for a three years’ degree program in law leading to conferment of LL.B. degree on successful completion of the regular program conducted by a University whose degree in law is recognized by the Bar Council of India for the purpose of enrolment.

(b) Integrated Degree Program:
An applicant who has successfully completed Senior Secondary School course (‘+2’) or equivalent (such as 11+1, ‘A’ level in Senior School Leaving certificate course) from a recognized University of India or outside or from a Senior Secondary Board or equivalent, constituted or recognized by the Union or by a State Government or from any equivalent institution from a foreign country recognized by the government of that country for the purpose of issue of qualifying certificate on successful completion of the course, may apply for and be admitted into the program of the Centres of Legal Education to obtain the integrated degree in law with a degree in any other subject as the first degree from the University whose such a degree in law is recognized by the Bar Council of India for the purpose of enrolment.
Provided that applicants who have obtained + 2 Higher Secondary Pass Certificate or First Degree Certificate after prosecuting studies in distance or correspondence method shall also be considered as eligible for admission in the Integrated Five Years course or three years’ LL.B. course, as the case may be.

Minimum marks in qualifying examination for admission:
The minimum percentage of marks should be not below 45% of the total marks in case of general category applicants and 40% of the total marks in case of SC and ST applicants, to be obtained for the qualifying examination.

Age on admission:
(a) Subject to the condition stipulated by a University on this behalf and the high degree of professional commitment required, the maximum age for seeking admission into a stream of integrated Bachelor of law degree program, is limited to twenty years in case of general category of applicants and to twenty two years in case of applicants from SC, ST and other Backward communities.

(b) Subject to the condition stipulated by a University, and the general social condition of the applicants seeking legal education belatedly, the maximum age for seeking admission into a stream of Three Year Bachelor Degree Course in Law, is limited to thirty years with right of the University to give concession of 5 further years for the applicant belonging to SC or ST or any other Backward Community.

M. Phil., Ph. D. Admissions 2011-2012


The admission to M.Phil. courses and Ph.D. Programme during the academic session 2011- 2012 will be made on the basis of common Entrance Test.

Eligibility
For Ph.D. Programmes:

The candidates shall be admitted to Ph.D. Programme either directly or through M.Phil programme.

(i) Masters degree in the concerned/ allied subject (as determined by the Departmental Research Board) with 55% marks at Masters Degree and 50% marks at Bachelors Degree Level. (SC candidates will get 5% relaxation in post graduation Marks, as per rules). OR

(ii) M.Phil./M.Litt. Degree with B+ or equivalent. OR

(iii) In case of Defence Personnel who have obtained Masters Degree on the basis of staff college, registration will be allowed if the candidate has obtained at least 60% marks in the Master’s Degree. OR

(iv) Candidates who have passed C.A./I.C.W.A./Company Secretary Examinations are eligible for getting registered for Ph.D. Degree. OR

(v) All whole time teachers either of recognized private colleges or of Govt. Colleges who are serving within the jurisdiction of Punjabi University, Patiala with five years teaching experience are eligible for getting registered for Ph.D. Degree.

How To Apply
The candidate shall apply for admission to the M.Phil courses or Ph.D. Programme on a prescribed form (FORM-I) which may be downloaded from the University website www.punjabiuniversity.ac.in .

The application form, duly filled, shall be submitted to the Co-ordinator, M.Phil./Ph.D Entrance Test Cell 2011, Department of Botany, Punjabi University, Patiala 147002 along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 1500/- (Rs. 1000/- for SC/ST candidates) in favour of the Registrar, Punjabi University, Patiala, payable at Patiala. In case of late submission of Application from late fees will be charged as already notified.

The documents must be submitted in the following sequence.
