Interaction Programme for PhD Scholars

G. B. Pant Social Science Institute, Allahabad in collaboration with Academic Staff College, (UGC) University of Allahabad is organizing an “Interaction Programme for PhD Scholars” from October 27, 2014 – November 15, 2014. This programme is for doctoral students who have completed one year of research after registration as a doctoral student. Interested doctoral students belonging to the field of Literature, Media, Sociology, History, Political Science, Anthropology, Women Studies, Development Studies, Cultural Studies and others belonging to interdisciplinary fields with their research related to the above theme may apply along with a synopsis of their doctoral research. The interaction programme shall be in the form of workshop / seminar and students will get an opportunity to share their research.

All selected students are required to pay a fee of Rs. 500/- This shall be a residential workshop. Accommodation will be provided free of charge. The last date of application is September 30, 2014.

The University of Allahabad shall conduct the Combined Research Entrance Test-2014 (CRET- 2014) at Allahabad for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) Programme of the University for the session 2014-15 in the subjects specified below:

CRET-2014 shall have three Levels (Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3) of testing / assessment.

The Level 1 Test (multiple choice objective type test for assessing general awareness, academic aptitude and subject proficiency) and the Level 2 Test (subjective test for assessing subject expertise and research aptitude) shall be by means of Written Tests, to be conducted by the University. The Level 3 Test shall entail an interview and may include Presentations. Group Discussions or other modes of appraisal and shall be administered by the Doctoral Programme Committee of the Department / Institute / Centre concerned.

Eligibility

Candidates for admission to the DPhil Programme must hold the master's degree (or a degree recognised by the University as equivalent thereto) in a relevant subject from the University, or any other university or institution recognised by it, and must fulfill other prescribed conditions of eligibility.

Regular teachers of the University of Allahabad and of any institution maintained by it or admitted to its privileges and International Students are exempted from appearing at CRET for admission to DPhil program. All other candidates for admission to the DPhil Programme in the concerned subjects are required to appear at CRET-2014 after applying and register their candidatures through the Online Application and Registration Process at the website www.aupravesh.org remitting the admissible Test Fees in the prescribed manner.

Admission aspirants are required to have a scanned copy of their colour photograph (3.5 x 4.5 cm) and their signature. These scanned copies of colour photo (3.5 x 4.5 cm) in JPEG (*.JPG) Format and signature (in JPEG (*.JPG) Format) are required to be uploaded during the online form submission. The file size of photograph and signature in any case shall not exceed 20 KB for each file separately

Once the candidate has been Registered he / she should view and take a print copy (Print-out) of his / her Admit Card from the date 28 July, 2014 by entering his / her Application ID & Date of Birth.

Eligibility:
Graduate with a minimum of 45% marks and has passed B.Ed or equivalent examination as a regular student with a minimum of 55% marks with 5% relaxation to SC/ST/OBC.

Eligibility
For M.Sc. Cognitive Science:

Students who have completed a Bachelors degree in Behavioural/ Cognitive Science or related disciplines including Psychology, Neuroscience, Biosciences, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Medicine, etc. are eligible to apply for admission to the Master programme.

Students should have at least 55% (for General) at the Undergraduate level (50% for OBC/SC/ST) for appearing in the entrance exam. A written entrance test followed by interview is conducted for the purpose of selection.

For D.Phil in Cognitive Science:

Students who have completed a Master program in Behavioural/ Cognitive Science or related disciplines including Psychology, Neuroscience, Sciences, Engineering (e.g., Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical Engineering), Linguistics, Medicine, and Philosophy are eligible to apply for admission to the Doctoral Program. Students with NET/ JRF/ CSIR/ GATE/ ICMR are encouraged to apply.

A minimum score at the Post-graduate Examination of 55% marks (or the equivalent Letter Grade/Grade Point under the seven point Letter Grade Scale), laid down by the UGC in the case of General/ OBC candidates; or 50% marks (or the equivalent Letter Grade/ Grade Point) in the case of SC / ST/ PH/VH candidates.

A minimum average score in the entire academic career of 54% marks (or the equivalent Letter Grade/Grade Point) in the case of General/ OBC candidates; or 49% marks (or the equivalent Letter Grade/Grade Point) in the case of SC/ ST/ PH/VH candidates.
