Kerala M.Tech admission 2011


Applications have been invited by Department of Technical Education, Kerala for admission to Post Graduate Degree Courses in Engineering offered to the graduates in Engineering, in following four Engineering Colleges for awarding Masters Degree in the appropriate branches by the concerned Universities.

1. College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram (University of Kerala)
2. TKM College of Engineering, Kollam(University of Kerala)
3. Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Kottayam (M.G.University)
4. Government Engineering College, Thrissur (University of Calicut)

Eligibility for admission:
a) The candidates shall be an Indian National
b) The candidates should have studied the Graduate course in an institution approved by the AICTE/Deemed Universities.
c) Candidates should have a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in the Engineering Degree examination. For SC/ST candidates a pass in the Engineering Degree course is sufficient.
d) Candidates, who have passed AMIE/AMIETE Examinations and satisfying the following conditions, are eligible for admission to institutions under University of Kerala.
1) They must have valid GATE score.
2) A minimum of 55% marks for section B in AMIE/AMIETE examination.
3) Minimum three years of Professional experience in the field of Specialization after acquiring the qualifying degree.
e) Candidates who have appeared for the final semester examination can also apply, provided he/she has passed all the subjects upto and including the 7th semester exam. Such candidates shall submit self-attested copies of all mark lists up to 7th semester along with the application.
f) Admission shall normally be restricted to those with valid GATE score.
However, this stipulation is relaxed in the case of Sponsored candidates.
g) In case seats remain vacant due to lack of candidates with valid GATE score, candidates from Kerala State without valid GATE score will be considered against such vacancies.

Submission of Applications:

Applications should be filled online logging on to the website www.cet.ac.in.
The different entries in the application are to be filled with extreme care, as this information is used for preparing the rank list. After submitting the application online, a printout of the filled up application should be taken and sent along with a Demand Draft for Rs. 250/- (Rs. 50/- in case of SC / ST candidates), drawn in favour of the Principal, College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram payable at Trivandrum from any nationalized bank with copies of the following documents, to the Principal, College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram.
a) Engineering Degree certificate and Mark lists.
b) GATE Score card (for Candidates with valid GATE Score)
c) Community and Income certificate issued by the village officer for candidates who claim eligibility under SEBC quota
d) Community certificate issued by the Tahsildar for candidates who claim eligibility for reservation under SC/ST quota.
e) Nativity certificate from the village officer in the case of Keralite Students seeking admission under non-GATE Category.
f) True copy of professional experience certificate from the Head of the organizations where the candidate is working in case of those who passed AMIE/AMIETE.

Selection of Candidates:

a) The selection of Candidates will be supervised by the selection committee consisting of Director of Technical Education (Chairman), Senior Joint Director (ECS) and Principals of College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, TKM College of Engineering, Kollam, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Kottayam & Government Engineering College, Thrissur. The Principal College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram will be the co-ordinate and the Venue for admission work is College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram.

b) Selection of candidates will be based on the GATE score. In case of tie, advantage will be given to the candidates who secure highest aggregate marks up to 7th semester in their qualifying examination..

c) If sufficient GATE qualified candidates are not available, the selection will be made from Keralite candidates based on the aggregate marks up to 7th semester in their qualifying examination. Candidates who have produced Nativity Certificate, at the time of application will only be considered for this.

d) Allotment list will be prepared and published in the institutions, as well as in the websites, www.dtekerala.gov.in and www.cet.ac.in .

e) Allotment letter can be downloaded from the website www.cet.ac.in.
Selected candidates have to join the respective colleges on or before the last date. Otherwise, the admission will be cancelled.

f) When filling the seats, firstly the additional seats reserved exclusively for SC/ST candidates will be filled from the rank list. Subsequently allotment will be done for the general seats and then for the other reserved categories.

g) Sponsored candidates, if any, will be admitted as per relevant Government orders.
h) Transfer Certificate issued from the institutions last attended must be produced at the time of admission.

i) The selection of Candidates will be provisional and subject to verification of original documents by the principals concerned at the time of admission.

j) The candidates who obtain admission and discontinue studies after the closing of admission in the same year or in subsequent years are liable to pay the tuition fee and special fee for the remaining period of the course as liquidated damages.

Eligibility:

M.V.Sc Programme – Bachelors degree in Veterinary and Animal Sciences recognized by the University with an OGPA of 6.0/10 or equivalent OGPA/equivalent percentage of 50% marks in traditional system. For SC/ST candidates the OGPA shall be 5.5/10 or equivalent.

Ph.D Programme – Masters Degree in the respective/related subject recognized by the University with an OGPA of 7.5/10 or equivalent OGPA/equivalent percentage of marks at Masters Degree level. For SC/ST candidates the OGPA shall be 7.0/10 or equivalent.

ASSISTANTSHIP / SCHOLARSHIP:
A fixed number of candidates admitted for Master’s and Ph.D. degree programmes are eligible for Assistantship. The Assistantship for Master’s programme is at the rate of Rs. 10,000/- per month and for Ph.D. at the rate of Rs. 20,000/- per month. All the students admitted for Master’s and Ph.D. programmes are eligible to get a scholarship amount of Rs. 3000/- and Rs. 5000/- per month, respectively. Candidates who are awarded any other fellowship/ scholarship will not be eligible for the above benefits. The candidates on deputation are also not eligible for these benefits. The M.V.Sc candidates who secure Assistantship shall assist in the conduct of undergraduate practicals and the Ph.D. candidates shall attend teaching/ lab work/ research work of the Department as determined by the Head of the Department in consultation with the Dean.

Selection:
For Master’s and Ph.D. degree programmes there will be separate selection examinations.
Masters – Common entrance examination of 1hr duration consisting of multiple choice questions.
Ph.D. – Entrance examination of 1½ h duration consisting of a common paper of objective General Knowledge and an objective paper of the relevant discipline. Selection shall be done on the basis of the OGPA in the qualifying exam, score in the entrance exam and interview. Candidates will be considered for admission only if they secure a minimum of 40% marks in the entrance examination. The minimum is 30% for SC/ST candidates.

M.Tech in ES/EDT Admissions 2011-2012

DOEACC Centre Calicut has invited applications for admission to the M. Tech courses in Embedded Systems (ES) & Electronics Design Technology (EDT), affiliated to Calicut University for the Academic Year 2011-12.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR M.TECH COURSES
a. The candidates shall be an Indian National
b. The candidate should have passed the B.Tech course or equivalent from an institution approved by the University of Calicut and the All India Council for Technical Education.
c. The respective branch of engineering for each M.Tech is given under the eligibility criteria.
d. Candidates should have a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in the engineering degree examination. For SC/ST candidates, a pass in the Engineering degree course is sufficient.
e. Admission shall normally be restricted to those candidates who have a valid GATE Score.
f. However Non GATE candidates can also apply. They shall be considered against the vacancies unfilled by eligible GATE candidates. These unfilled seats shall be filled with NON GATE candidates from KERALA state alone. They have to produce nativity certificate.
g. GATE score is not essential for Sponsored candidates.
h. Candidates who have passed AMIE/AMIETE Examination in Electronics and satisfying the following conditions are also eligible for admission.
a. They must have valid GATE score
b. A Minimum marks of 55% for the section B in AMIE/AMIETE Examination
c. Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the field of specialization after acquiring the qualifying degree
i. Candidates who have appeared for the final examination may also apply provided the results are made available on or before 31.10.2011. Such candidates may be considered for provisional admission provided:
a. They must have successfully passed at least six semesters of B.Tech. (Engg.) or three years of Engineering studies on the date of application and the application must include attested copies of the mark lists.
b. On the date of counseling/admission, the students under Semester/ Year system must have passed all including the Seventh Semester / third year of engineering Examination and he/she shall produce all the original Mark lists including the Seventh Semester/ third year of engineering Examination.
c. Produce course completion certificate.

The specific eligibility for the two M.Tech courses is as given below.

I. EMBEDDED SYSTEMS (ES)
a. The candidate should have a B.E./B.Tech in Electronics and Communication/ Electrical and Electronics/Applied Electronics and Instrumentation/Instrumentation and Control/Electronics and Instrumentation/ Electronics/Computer Science/Computer Science and Engg./Information Technology/ Biomedical Engg./ Electronics and Biomedical Engg./ Biomedical Instrumentation Engg. subjects awarded by the Calicut University or equivalent there to as approved by the University of Calicut.

b. GATE score in Electronics/ Electrical/ Instrumentation/ Computer Science/ IT/ Biomedical engineering subjects is preferable.

II. ELECTRONICS DESIGN TECHNOLOGY (EDT)
a. The candidate should have a B.E./B.Tech in Electronics/ Electrical/ Instrumentation subjects awarded by the Calicut University or equivalent there to as approved by the University of Calicut.
b. GATE score in Electronics/ Electrical/Instrumentation engineering subjects is preferable.

HOW TO APPLY
1. Use only the appropriate application form for admission to M.Tech programme obtained from DOEACC Calicut Centre or downloaded from Website www.doeacccalicut.ac.in.
2. Those who want the application form by post have to enclose a self-addressed stamped cover along with the request.
3. A passport size photograph taken not earlier than 3 months is to be affixed on the Application Form. The photo in the application should be self-attested. Four more copies of the same photograph and one stamp size photograph should be produced at the time of counseling/admission.
4. The following Documents should be enclosed with the application:
i. Attested copies of the Mark Lists & Degree Certificate of the Qualifying Examination.
ii. Course Completion Certificate from the Head of the Institution last studied and attested copies of Mark Lists up to the pre-final semester/ pre-final year for those who have appeared in the qualifying examination and are awaiting results.
iii. Attested copy of the GATE Score Card (if applicable).
iv. Attested copy of Community Certificate in the case of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/ SEBC candidates from a competent authority not below the rank of a Tahsildar.

Kochi, June 01,2011 : Applications have been invited by National Institute of Technology, Patna for admission to Post Graduate and Doctoralprogram during academic session 2011-12 from eligible candidates.

ADMISSION TO M. Tech./ MURP PROGRAM: 2011
Courses are offered in Master of Technology (M. Tech.) in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engg, Computer Sc. & Engg., Electronics & Communication with different specializations and Master in Urban and Regional Planning (MURP).

Minimum Eligibility Criteria for Admission - M.Tech. and MURP : Admission to Post Graduate program (M.Tech. and MURP) will be granted in the Autumn (Odd) semester of each academic session on the basis of the performance at Common all India competitive test known as Graduate Aptitudes Test (GATE) for Engineering and Architecture.

The candidate must have

(i) Passed Bachelor’s degree or equivalent examination with specialization in relevant branches/ disciplines as specified for different Master’s specialization/ courses.
(ii) The candidates under different categories must have minimum percentage of marks in aggregate (of all the semesters/ years) or minimum CGPA in 10 point scale (as determined by NIT Patna) in their qualifying examination.
(iii) Candidates presently in last semester/ final year may also be considered for admission provided they fulfill above criterion and submit final passing result before start of academic session. If the candidates selected for admission fails to submit passing certificate or his/ her percentage marks in aggregate falls below the minimum requirement, then his/ her admission shall stand cancelled.
(iv) Admission under different categories shall be made in order of preference of discipline/ branch of specialization on GATE Score of the candidate for different specialization.
(v) The GATE score certificate may be used by the candidate for one time admission only.
(vi) Merit list of the candidates based on qualifying GATE score shall be prepared for grant of admission. Candidate’s Inter-se-merit shall be as per preferential order of Branch/ Specialization at Bachelor’s degree program indicated above. The minimum cut off GATE score notified by GATE authority may be revised by the Institute.
(vii) The minimum percentage cut-off of marks/ CGPA in qualifying examination and cut-off GATE Score Percentile for different categories of candidates is detailed below:
General: 60% in Aggregate/ CGPA: 6.75
OBC: 60% in Aggregate/ CGPA: 6.75
SC/ ST/ PH: 55% in Aggregate/ CGPA: 6.25
Sponsored: 60% in Aggregate/ CGPA: 6.75


ADMISSION TO Ph. D. PROGRAM: 2011
Courses are Offered in Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) Program under Mechanical,Civil Engg., Computer Sc. & Engg., Architecture, Mathematics, Physics and Humanities & Social Sciences departments.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria for Admission - Ph.D
Candidates with following qualification shall be eligible for admission to the Ph. D. Programme

For Engineering, Technology and Architecture Departments:
(a) Candidates possessing M. Tech/ M. E/ M. Sc. (Engg.)/ M. Arch or equivalent Degree in relevant branch from a recognized University/ Institute with minimum 60% marks (or a CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale) in the qualifying examination shall be considered for admission in the departments as per their Specialization only.

(b) Candidates possessing B. Tech/ B. E/ B. Sc. (Engg.)/ B. Arch or equivalent Degree in relevant branch from a recognized University/ Institute with minimum 75% marks (or a CGPA of 8.25 in 10 point scale) in all (from 10th onward) examinations including qualifying examination may be considered in exceptional cases after approval of DRC. Such candidates must have professional/ research experience of at least ten years in reputed Institutions/ Organizations.

For Science Departments: Candidates possessing Masters Degree in the area of Science from a recognized University/ Institute with minimum 60% marks (or a CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale) in the qualifying examinations shall be considered for admission in the departments as per their Specialization only.

For Science, Humanities & Social Science Departments: Candidates possessing Masters Degree in the area of English or Economics from a recognized University/ Institute with minimum 60% marks (or a CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale) in the qualifying examinations shall be considered for admission in the departments as per their Specialization only. Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CGPA for SC/ ST candidates.
