Applications are invited by Dr.Y.S.R. Horticultural University, AP for admission into M.Sc. (Hort.) with specialization in Fruit Science, Vegetable Science, Floriculture & Landscape Architecture and Plantation, Species, Medicinal and Aromatic Crops and Ph.D. (Hort.) courses from candidates possessing B.Sc.(Hort.)/B.Sc.(Hons.)Horticulture & M.Sc.(Hort.) degree respectively.

ELIGIBILITY:

Ph.D Course:

Qualifications: Candidates with Master?s degree in the major field with a minimum OGPA of 6.50/10.00 are eligible. Basic degree i.e B.Sc(Hort.)/B.Sc(Hons.) Horticulture of 4 years as the case may be is essential. The candidates should have submitted the M.Sc. level thesis on or before the last date must complete the thesis final viva-voce examination successfully as on the date of entrance examination.

M.Sc. level Courses:

Candidates must have passed the Bachelor?s degree i.e B.Sc(Hort.)/B.Sc(Hons.) Horticulture of  4 years course from ANGRAU/Dr.YSRHU or from an Institution accredited by ICAR. Minimum OGPA required is 5.50/10.00. The candidates completing their graduation requirements during the year2012-13 should submit course completion certificate issued by the Associate dean of the concerned college. However, The candidate should produce the provisional certificate at the time of counseling ( Mandatory).

Essential Qualification:

(a) Candidates should have passed M.Sc. (any branch of science), M. Tech., M. Pharm., M.V.Sc. or equivalent qualification with minimum 60% marks (or equivalent grade point).

(b) Candidates should have qualified in CSIR/UGC-JRF or ICMR-JRF or DBT-JRF or DST-INSPIRE or DBT-BINC. They should have qualified in these examinations not earlier than June, 2013.

OR

Candidates who have qualified only for lectureship in CSIR/UGC are also eligible to apply. They should have qualified in these examinations not earlier than June, 2013.

OR

Candidates who have qualified GATE (40% or above) are also eligible to apply, provided they have passed the masters exam not earlier than June, 2013

OR

GPAT (40% or above) are also eligible to apply, provided they have passed the masters exam not earlier than Jan, 2013.

Candidates, who were interviewed for the Ph.D. programme in the last two rounds (August, 2013 and March, 2014) are not eligible to apply.

The upper age limit of the candidate should be below 28 years as of 30th June, 2014. Age relaxation will be given for five years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/women/PH and three years in case of OBC (as approved by Govt. of India) candidates.

Eligibility for Admission:

A candidate shall be considered eligible for registration for the degree of Ph D provided that the candidate satisfies one of the following:

i) Candidate must have obtained Bachelor?s degree and Master?s degree in technology or engineering in relevant disciplines with minimum 60% marks (55% marks in case of reserved category) in either of the two or a CPI/CGPA of 6.75 or above on a 10 point scale (CPI/CGPA of 6.25 or above on a 10 point scale in case of reserved category)

ii) A candidate from a research organization or industry is considered eligible for registration for the degree of Ph D provided that the candidate satisfies the following:

a) Having obtained Bachelor?s degree and Master?s degree in technology or engineering in relevant disciplines.

b) Having THREE years technical/ industrial experience in the field of interest.

c) Having visibility/acceptability of his/her work by way of paper presentations in reputed conferences, peer reviewed journals and/or

research project completion in the field of interest.

d) Having sponsorship from the parent organization. (Candidate shall submit a sponsorship letter from the parent organization in the prescribed format)

Such Candidates will preferably be selected for a joint research project from sponsoring organization. Infrastructural and financial support will come from the sponsoring organization (with MoU between the sponsoring organization and VJTI). Supervision may be jointly done by a faculty from the institute and a person qualified to supervise Ph.D. work from the sponsoring research organization/industry.

Exemption from the Written Test:

A candidate who has appeared for the PhD Entrance Test (PET) of University of Mumbai and has valid PET score is exempted from the written examination for Ph.D, conducted by the departments.

A candidate with valid GATE score in the relevant field is exempted from the written examination for PhD, conducted by the department.

Teachers appointed in the University of Mumbai or its affiliated colleges having not less than Five years, full time continuous teaching experience as an approved teacher (of University of Mumbai only) shall be exempted from the written examination for Ph D, conducted by the department. The copy of approval letter has to be attached as proof along with application.
