National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, has announced its admission schedule to the various Bachelor and Master's Degree Programmes in Design, Management and Technology, for 2010.

The Programmes offered include B.Des (Accessory Design), B.Des (Fashion Communication), B.Des (Fashion Design), B.Des (Knitwear Design), B.Des (Leather Design), B.Des (Textile Design) and B.F.Tech (Apparel Production). The Post Graduate Programmes include M.Des (Design), MFM (Fashion Management) and M.F.Tech (Fashion Technology).

ADMISSION CALENDAR

Application Form Available  : 20th November, 2009 to 5th January, 2010
Last date of Submission of Application Form  : 9th January, 2010
Written Entrance Examination : 21st February, 2010
Declaration of Written Examination Result : 1st Week of April, 2010
Situation Test / GD / Interviews : April - May, 2010

Prospectus along with Application Form can be obtained from the selected branches of Axis
Bank across India on payment of Rs.250/- or by post enclosing a DD of Rs.350/- in favour of NIFT, New Delhi from all NIFT Centres.

 
WHO CAN APPLY

Eligibility for Bachelor Programmes - Design
B.Des. (Fashion Design / Leather Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Fashion Communication)

The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
OR

General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
OR

Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in Foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.
OR

A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.
OR

3 or 4-years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.
 Eligibility for Bachelor Programme - Technology


B.FTech. (Apparel Production)
The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi with Physics, Chemistry  and Maths.
OR

General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the advanced (A) level with Physics, Chemistry and Maths.
OR

Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system with Physics, Chemistry and Maths.
OR

A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects with Physics, Chemistry and Maths.
OR

3 or 4-years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education (Engineering background).

(Candidate must be pass in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics)

Please note that the upper age limit for applying in bachelor programmes is  restricted to 23 years as on 1st November, 2009.
Eligibility for Master Programme - Design
M.Des. (Master of Design)

B.Sc. (Textiles & Clothing)
OR

Bachelor in Applied Arts (Fashion Design / Visual Communication / Graphic Design / Industrial Design / Interior Design / Multimedia Design / Product Design / Textiles & Accessories.
OR

B.Arch.
OR

Design Diploma / Degree  from NIFT / NID / International University of repute         
Candidates having additional industry experience in the relevant fields would be preferred.

 

Eligibility for Master Programme - Management
M.F.M. (Master of Fashion Management)

A three years Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities or Diploma in Accessory / Fashion Design / FIT from NIFT only.

For foreign Bachelor's Degree, not recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, proper certification by a National Body constituted in the country concerned for granting equivalence will have to be produced.

ELIGIBILITY FOR MASTER PROGRAMME - TECHNOLOGY
M.FTech. (Master of Fashion Technology)

B.E. / B.Tech. (Textiles / Apparel / Mechanical / Industrial / Production / Electronics / Computer / Information Technology)

IMPORTANT NOTE
Candidates appearing for their qualifying examinations can also apply. Their admission, however, will be provisional and subject to obtaining the defined eligibility by 30th June, 2010. Proof of the candidates having successfully passed the qualifying examination will have to be produced at the time of joining the programme. Compartment cases as on date of admission will not be considered for admission. In case, candidates do not produce the required documents by 30th June, 2010, their admission will be cancelled and 50% of the tuition fee will be refunded.
Non fulfillment  of the above conditions will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.

ADMISSION TEST

All eligible candidates will have to appear for a written entrance examination at the Examination Centres opted by them. The written entrance examination is designed to test the knowledge, skill and aptitude of the candidates for the programme opted.

The objective type tests are subject to negative marking. The negative marking will apply at the rate of 0.25 for each wrong answer.

The written entrance examination will be conducted on 21st February, 2010 at the cities mentioned in the table.
The candidate has to select only ONE city for the examination. The candidate should write the two-digit Exam Centre Code on the OMR(Optical Marker Reader) Application Form at item no. 15, and shade the corresponding oval below each digit.

Candidature are cautioned to fill this code and shade correctly as the allotment of the required Examination Centre will be based on this information only.

Please note that NIFT reserves the right to cancel any of the Examination Centres mentioned. In such case , alternate centre which is administratively convenient will be allotted.

Please note that the request for change of Examination Centre will not be entertained.

IMPORTANT:
The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility criteria for admission to the examination. Their admission at all the stages of the examination for which they are admitted by NIFT viz. Written Test, Situation Test, Group Discussion and Interview (as the case may be) will be purely provisional, subject to their satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. If on verification at any time before or after the Written Test, Situation Test, Group Discussion and Interview (as the case may be), It is found that candidate does not fulfill any eligibility criteria, his / her candidature for the examination shall stand cancelled without any notice or further reference.
