JIPMER MBBS ADMISSION 2010

The All India Entrance Examination for admission to the MBBS Course at Jawaharlal Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), Puducherry will be held from 10 am to 12.30 noon on 6th June 2010 (Sunday), at Ahmedabad, Bangaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkatta, Nagpur, New Delhi, Puducherry and Thiruvananthapuram.

Applicant should be Resident Indian National and should have studied and completed their course in the schools located in India in the preceding two years (except for those admitted against the seats reserved for foreign students nominated by the Government of India).
Applicant should complete age of 17 years at the time of admission or on or before 31st December 2010 (Should have been born on or before 1.1.1994).

Applicants should have passed Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher/Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Botany and Zoology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) and with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education and should have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Botany & Zoology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Botany & Zoology at the qualifying examination. For SC/ST/OBC candidates, the minimum marks in the qualifying examination will be 40%.

Applicants who have appeared or will be appearing in the qualifying examination in March/April 2010 and whose results have not yet been declared can also apply if other eligibility criteria are fulfilled.

The Entrance examination will be in English medium only and will be based on the syllabus for XI & XII Standards as prescribed by State Board Higher Secondary and CBSE. It will have 200 multiple choice questions from English, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology with four alternatives for each question. Each correct response will fetch one mark. Zero mark will be given for the question not answered. More than one answer indicated against a question, will be deemed as incorrect response and no mark will be given. There is no Negative Marking. General candidates should secure 50% marks and SC/ST/OBC candidates, 40% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in the Entrance Examination, to be included in the merit list.

Off-line application: Prospectus with Application Form can be obtained against payment of Rs.850/- for Unreserved/Other Backward Classes Category (UR/OBC/P-UR/P-OBC)) and Rs.500/- for SC/ST (SC/ST/P-SC) by Cash, from State Bank of India, JIPMER Campus, Pondicherry-605006, on all working days from 10 am to 4 pm (Monday to Friday) and from 10 am to 12 noon on Saturdays, up to 15th April, 2010 (Thursday).

Prospectus and Application Forms can also be had from Professor (Academic), JIPMER, Puducherry-605 006, up to 8th April, 2010 by Post by sending a request, accompanied by a MICR Bank Draft of Rs.850/- (Unreserved/OBC) or Rs.500/- (SC/ST) drawn in favour of 'Accounts Officer, JIPMER', payable at any Nationalized Banks in Pondicherry/Union Territory of Puducherry and a self addressed label of size 13 cm x 7 cm.

Those applying Off-line have to send the filled-in application form along with the Acknowledgement Card kept in the envelope with their address duly filled. Application number should be written at the top in the copy of OBC/SC/ST and Medical Certificate. Filled up Applications should reach the Institute latest by 4 pm on 15th April, 2010.

On-Line Application: Application can be submitted on-line from 25.2.2010 to 8.4.2010 at www.jipmer.edu.in. Applicant should first pay the application fee of Rs.850/- (Unreserved/OBC) or Rs.500/- (SC/ST) by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of 'Accounts Officer, JIPMER', payable at any Nationalized Bank in Pondicherry/Union Territory of Puducherry. The details of the Draft are required while filling up on-line form. After successful submission of data, applicant should take a print of the on-line application form. The printed Form with the requisite signatures, photograph, attestations, left thumb print of the applicant and the DD must be sent by Speed Post to reach the Professor (Academic), JIPMER, Puducherry-605 006, latest by 4 pm on 15th April, 2010. Attested copies of OBC/SC/ST certificates, Medical Certificate in support of disability must be enclosed with the Application Form wherever applicable.

Of the 100 seats available at JIPMER, there are 22 seats under 'Unreserved' (UR) category and 15 under OBC category. 11 and 8 seats respectively are reserved for SC and ST. Puducherry Unreserved (P-UR) has 17 seats, Puducherry Other Backward Classes (P-OBC), 5 seats, Puducherry Scheduled Caste (P-SC), 4. There are 18 seats under Government of India nomination. The Tuition fee for MBBS is Rs.250/- p.a. (subject to revision). Details of other fees to be paid can be had from the Prospectus.
