Oslo Peace Scholarship 2010 – Australian National University – Australia

The Graduate Studies in International Affairs Program in the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific offers one Scholarship each year for full-time study in the Master of International Affairs specialising in Peace and Conflict Studies.

Eligibility: Applicants must meet the admission requirements of the Master of International Affairs specialising in Peace and Conflict Studies. Applicants for the Master of International Affairs specialising in Peace and Conflict Studies should normally have obtained at least Second Class Honours, Division A, or the equivalent, in their bachelor degree. The degree normally should be in any discipline of the social sciences or the humanities. In exceptional circumstances, degrees in other disciplines will be considered. In cases where applicants have not undertaken an honours degree, equivalence to a 2A honours degree may be met by:

• a very good four-year bachelor degree, or graduate diploma; or
• a very good three-year bachelor degree and substantial relevant work experience demonstrating a capacity for analysis and research.
Provisions: The scholarship pays the tuition fee for the Master of International Affairs specialising in Peace and Conflict Studies in Oslo and in Canberra. The scholarship also provides a living allowance for Oslo and Canberra.

Duration: The scholarship will apply for the normal minimum duration of the Master of International Affairs specialising in Peace and Conflict Studies.

Rules: The scholarship only applies to the Master of International Affairs specialising in Peace and Conflict Studies. If a scholarship holder transfers to another ANU degree including another Program in Graduate Studies in International Affairs then the scholarship will cease to apply.

Application Procedure: When applying for the Master of International Affairs specialising in Peace and Conflict Studies, eligible applicants for the Scholarship should provide:
• A statement of interest in the Peace and Conflict Studies specialisation. The statement should outline how the applicant's experience to date has equipped him or her for participation in the program and how the program will contribute to his or her academic and professional development.
• Two academic references
• One professional reference 258/2007
The statement together with the application for the Master of International Affairs specialising in Peace and Conflict Studies (including transcripts and references) will be considered as the full application for the scholarship.
