Notification of Dates of Common Entrance Tests for Academic Session 2011


The University is pleased to announce the following schedule of Common Entrance Tests to be held for admissions to various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of the university for the academic session 2011-2012

Common Entrance Test (CET)

The admissions to various programmes in the University is based on merit a candidate attains in the CET. The Admission process is taken care of in an expeditious, systematic and transparent manner. A hassle-free CET process has been evolved. A prospective candidate –immediately on the submission of the Application Form – is issued his/her Roll Number, Examination Center, Date and Time of Examination etc. via a single window system. The results are declared as per fixed schedule to facilitate time bound counseling.

Eligibility: Master of Computer Applications MCA (Software Engineering) (Test Code-01)

Eligibility Conditions and Admission Criteria:-
Bachelor’s Degree of a recognized University in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate and must also have passed Mathematics and English (core or elective or functional) at least at the Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII) of the CBSE or any other Examination recognized as equivalent thereto.

OR

BCA/BIT/BIS of a recognized University of at least three years duration with at least 50% marks in aggregate or any qualification recognized as equivalent thereto.

OR

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

MBA (Part Time) (Test Code-02)



Eligibility Conditions and Admission Criteria:-

Any recognized Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

OR

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Technology or any other subject with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate or any qualification recognized as equivalent thereto with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

OR

Passed the Final Examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or England, the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India or England or the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

(a) Graduate from any discipline from a recognized University

OR

Passed the Final Examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or England, the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India or England or the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

(b) Must have work experience of minimum one year at the level of Executive/Superviser/Teaching Faculty in an institution located in NCR Region.

(c) No Objection Certificate from the employer for pursuance of MBA (PT) programme.

The classes of MBA (PT) programme will be held in the evening from 5.00 pm onwards.

Master of Mass Media (Test Code-03)

Pass in Bachelor of Physiotherapy programme (BPT) of 4½ years duration (including internship) with 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized University. OR Pass in Bachelor of Physiotherapy/BSc (Physiotherapy) of 3½ years duration (including internship) with 50% marks in aggregate and bridge course of one year with 50% marks from a recognized University.

A candidate also must have passed in English (core or elective or functional) as a subject of study (core or elective or functional) in the qualifying examination.

BEd (Test Code-13)



Eligibility Conditions and Admission Criteria:-



1. For Graduates:

(a) Candidates having passed Bachelor’s degree in humanities and social sciences with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized University and having studied any one of the following subjects:

(I) English (ii) Hindi (iii) Sanskrit (iv) Urdu (v) Mathematics (vi) Civics/ Political Science (vii) Geography (viii) History (ix) Economics



Note:

(i) The candidate must have passed at least two subjects out of the list of the teaching subjects (Please see Appendix 2). These two subjects should be available as teaching subjects in the institute / college in which the candidate seeks to take admission; (ii) The candidate who has studied either Civics (Political Science) or History or Geography or Economics will be eligible to take Social Sciences as one of the teaching subject; (iii) The second teaching subject can be chosen either from the main subjects or subsidiary subjects passed by the candidate at the graduation level or at 12th level. (b) Candidates having passed Bachelor’s degree in Science with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized university and having studied any one of the following subjects:

Note:

(i) The candidate must have passed at least two subjects out of the list of the teaching subjects (Please see Appendix 2). (c) However, the candidates having done BCom (Pass/Hons), Bachelor of Journalism (Mass Communication),

BBA, BA (Vocational) are not eligible for the BEd programme. If a candidate having any of these degrees applies for Common Entrance Test for BEd programme, he or she will not be allowed to appear in the Test and if by default, he or she appears in the test, the admission will not be granted to such a candidate.

2. For Post Graduates: Candidates having done postgraduation degree with a minimum of 50 % marks in

aggregate from a recognized university and having studied any one of the following:

Note:

(i) The candidate will be allotted one of the teaching subjects from the subjects listed above provided the same is being offered by the institute / college where the candidate seeks to take admission. Eligibility Conditions and Admission Criteria:-



Pass in 12th Class of 10+2 of CBSE or equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology provided the candidate has passed in each subject separately. A candidate also must have passed in English (core or elective or functional) as a subject of study (core or elective or functional) in the qualifying examination.

Notes: 1. Compartment case(s) of 2011 ie current year will not be considered for admission for the academic session 2011-10. It is further clarified that:

(a) Compartment cases of 2011, who have appeared for supplementary examination and the result of the same is not declared by the time of counseling/admission, such candidates will not be considered for admission for the academic session 2011-12.

(b) In case the result of the supplementary examinations is declared by the time of admission/counseling and the candidate fulfills the eligibility conditions as mentioned above, then such candidates would be eligible for the admission for the academic session 2011-12.

2. The Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply provided:

(a) That they are able to produce the proof of having acquired minimum prescribed qualifications at the time of counseling/admission.

OR

(b) If the total result of qualifying examination is not declared by the concerned Board/University till the date of counseling/admission, his/her admission in that case will be provisional subject to the following conditions:

(i) Affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper of Rs 10/- in the prescribed Proforma (please see Appendix 3). Further, in case the candidate is minor i.e. below 18 years of age; in that case, the affidavit shall be signed by his/her parent/guardian. Candidates/parents/guardians may furthur note that submission of false affidavit is a punishable offence; (ii) The candidate will have to submit the result of qualifying examination proving his/her eligibility on or before 15.11.2011 in the Academic Branch, Room No.108, Administrative Block, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Kashmere Gate, Delhi-110403. Concerned Dean/Principal/Director where the admission has been granted must also be informed; (iii) In case the candidate fails to submit his/her final result of qualifying examination in the manner as prescribed under above to prove his/her eligibility whatsoever the reason may be, his/her admission will be treated as null and void and the entire fee will be forfeited and under no circumstances he/she will be allowed to appear in the End Term Exam.

(c) It is further clarified that provisional admission will be considered only in such cases where the result of the qualifying examination has not been declared by the concerned Board/University in its totality. In case the result has been declared by the concerned Board/University but it has not been declared in a specific case, for any reason, such cases will NOT be considered under provisional admission category.

(d) Provisionally admitted candidates will have a suffix® to the enrollment number printed on their admission slip. Provisionally admitted candidates are advised to check it on receipt of Admission Slip in addition to the other details.

3. Aggregate of 50% marks in the 12th class for the purpose of eligibility will be taken as the aggregate of best four subjects including one language and compulsory subject(s).

4. There will be no rounding-off of percentage of marks of qualifying examination while deciding the basic

eligibility of any candidate for admission.

Lateral Entry to BTech Programmes for Diploma holders (2nd Yr/3rd

Semester) (Test Code-22)

Eligibility Conditions and Admission Criteria:-

Three-years diploma in any of the following branches of Engg./Technology with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate from any recognized Diploma awarding institute/ university/board recognized by AICTE:- Computer Engg; Automobile Engg; Chemical Engg, Civil Engg, Construction Engg, Electrical Engg, Electronics & Communication Engg, Electronics, Instrumentation & Control, Mechanical Engg., Maintenance Engg., Plastic Engg., Printing Technology, Production Engg., Public Health & Environmental Engg., Tool & Die Making. Note: Candidates with Diploma in Architecture are not eligible for lateral entry to Engineering/ Technology degree programme.

Lateral Entry in BTech for BSc Graduates (2nd yr/3rd semester) (Test Code-23)

Eligibility Conditions and Admission Criteria:-

BSc Graduates with 60% marks in aggregate with Mathematics as a subject from any recognized University.

BTech / MTech - (Dual Degree) Bio- Technology – (Test Code-24)

Eligibility Conditions and Admission Criteria:-

Pass in 12th Class of 10+2 pattern of CBSE or equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Biotechnology provided the candidate has passed in each subject separately. Candidate must additionally have passed English as a subject of study (core/elective/functional) in the qualifying examination.



Mtech

Mtech (Engineering Physics) (Test Code-01)



Eligibility Conditions and Admission Criteria:-

BE / BTech (Electronics/Computer Science/Electrical/Engineering Physics) / MSc in any of the physical Sciences like Physics/Applied Physics/Electronics/Mathematics with minimum of 55% marks in aggregate;

however, must have studied mathematics at undergraduate level.

B) Admission Criteria:

(a) For normal seats, merit list will be prepared on the basis of the valid GATE SCORE. If seats remain vacant after admitting students with valid GATE score, then the admission for vacant seats shall be made on the basis of marks obtained in qualifying degree subject to securing of a minimum of 55% marks

(b) For sponsored seats, Merit list will be prepared on the following basis:-

(i) Percentage of Marks secured in the qualifying examination, calculated on a hundred point scale;

(ii) One mark each for an additional year of experience but upto a maximum of ten additional marks. The maximum marks will be 110.



MTech (Nano Science and Technology) (Test Code-02)



Eligibility Conditions and Admission Criteria:-

a) MSc (Physics / Applied Physics / Electronics / Mathematics / Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biosciences / Life sciences) b) BE / BTech (Electronics / Computer Science / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering Physics / Metallurgy / Material Engineering / Information Technology / Biotechnology / Chemical Engineering or Technology) c) Minimum 55% aggregate marks in the qualifying degree and Mathematics at +2 level is a must.

B) Admission Criteria:

Department 60 Note: 1) All admission seekers to MTech courses who have either appeared or appearing in the qualifying examination must apply by 07.07.2011. / Autonomous Organization in the relevant field in which admission is being sought after the completion of qualifying examination as on 07.07.2011. 2) A letter from employer must be furnished stating that the candidate is being sponsored to seek admission in MTech (IT)/ MTech (CSE) full time programme.

B) Admission Criteria: (a) For normal seats, merit list will be prepared on the basis of the valid GATE SCORE. If seats remain vacant after admitting students with valid GATE score, then the admission for vacant seats shall be made on the basis of marks obtained in qualifying degree subject to securing of a minimum of 60% marks. (b) For sponsored seats, Merit list will be prepared on the following basis :- (i) Percentage of Marks secured in the qualifying examination, calculated on a hundred point scale; (ii) One mark each for an additional year of experience but upto a maximum of ten additional marks. The maximum marks will be 110. 05 Lateral Entry to MTech (Information Technology) Dual Degree 9th Semester a) The candidates applying for lateral entry must be throughout first class securing 60% marks or above in 10th Class &12th Class / Diploma; and 70% marks or above in BTech Exam (2011) from the affiliating colleges and constituent college (IGIT) of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University; b) The students pursuing BTech (CSE), BTech (IT) and BTech (ECE) would be eligible to take admission in this programme as a lateral entry. B) Admission Criteria The admission will be made on the basis of the marks in the qualifying examination, ie, BTech and the Interview to be conducted by the USIT. The distribution of weight ages is as below: a) 75% weight age (Cumulative Performance Index) would be given to the marks obtained in the qualifying examination & b) 25% to the Interview. The candidates must secure a minimum of 70% marks in the interview to be conducted by a Committee of Experts.



MTech (VLSI Design ) (Test Code-06)



Eligibility Conditions and Admission Criteria:-



1. BTech/ BE in Computer Science/ Information Technology/Electronics and Communication Engineering or equivalent degree with 60% marks. OR



2. MSc (IT)/Computer Science/Electronics with 60% marks.



Sponsored Category

The Sponsored candidate in addition to the fulfillment of eligibility conditions as specified above must have a minimum of one year of full-time work experience in a registered firm / company / industry / educational and research institutions / any Government Department / Autonomous Organization in the relevant field in which admission is sought after the completion of qualifying examination as on 07-07- 2011.

A letter from employer must be furnished stating that the candidate is being sponsored to seek admission to the MTech (VLSI) Full Time Programme.

B) Admission Criteria:

(a) For normal seats, merit list will be prepared on the basis of the valid GATE SCORE. If seats remain vacant after admitting students with valid GATE score, then the admission for vacant seats shall be made on the basis of marks obtained in qualifying degree subject to securing of a minimum of 60%

marks.

(b) For sponsored seats,

a) First Class (minimum 60% marks) in BTech / BE (Electronics & Communication/Allied branch) degree

b) MSc (Electronics) with first class (minimum 60% marks)
