NUJS is one of the premiere national law schools of India. With globalization, liberalization and the ever changing and evolving national and international regulatory framework, knowledge and exposure of laws affecting domestic and international businesses is critical in thoroughly understanding the underpinnings of business, nationally and globally. It is with this intent that NUJS has started One Year Diploma Programme in Business Laws for the entrepreneurs and executives working in the corporate sector. Larsen and Toubro, one of the leading global corporate brands is the first recipient of the programme.

The course is conducted through a flexible pedagogy and contact classes are held at the NUJS campus. Experts, in their fields, drawn from all over the country along with the NUJS faculty are involved in teaching the Diploma students.

Contact Sessions/ Subjects
The programme will be conducted over a period of one year. The course comprises of  eleven subjects. The programme shall have five Contact Sessions (each of either 5–6 simultaneous days or on Saturdays and Sundays as may be decided later) spread over one year. The coverage in each Contact Session will be as follows:

Rules and Regulations of the Programme

(i) Eligibility for Admission - For the Post-Graduate Diploma in Business and Law, the basic requirement is a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised University. 

(ii) Course of Study - The syllabus for the course of study will be prescribed from time to time. 

(iii) Schedule for the Classes - The entire course shall be taught in five Contact Sessions during the year. The first Contact Session shall start from 1st September 2012. All the sessions shall be held at NUJS, Kolkata.

(iv) Medium of Instruction and Examination  - The medium of instructions and examinations shall be English.

(v) Attendance–Candidates are required to attend not less than 2/3rd of the lectures. The Vice Chancellor/ Director of the University may, at his discretion, condone the deficiency in attendance only on the compassionate grounds, provided that representation supported by documentary evidence is submitted.

(vi) Evaluation–The evaluation process of courses consists of:
(a) End Session Examination consisting of 40 marks.
(b) Assignments: Every candidate is required to submit an assignment in each of the prescribed papers.  This consists  40 marks, broken as  Written submission-30 and Viva-10.
(c) Class participation: This consists 20 marks
(d) Dissertation: Every candidate is required to submit a dissertation at the end of the course. 

This consists 200 marks,
(vii) Discipline: The Vice Chancellor of the  University has the power to strike off the name of any student from the roll who is grossly irregular in attendance, or wanting in discipline in-spite of warning.

B.  Course Fees
Course Fees: Rs. 30,000.00 (Rupees Thirty thousand only) which is non-refundable, to be paid by way of Pay Order/Banker’s Cheque/Demand Draft in favour of “WBNUJS PGDBL A/c. No. SB01005532” payable at Kolkata.
