> by sending a Demand Draft for Rs.950/- drawn in favour of "VIT University", payable at Vellore, to the Director-UG Admissions with a request letter containing the full address of the applicant by handing over a DD for Rs.950/- in person at VIT University, Vellore (or) at VIT, Chennai Campus (or) at Chennai City Office

VITEEE-2013, the Vellore Institute of Technology Entrance Examination (VITEEE), for admission to the B Tech Programmes offered at the Vellore Campus and Chennai Campus of VIT, will be held as a Computer Based Test between 15.04.2013 and 30.04.2013 at centres across the country.

The Programmes offered at the Vellore campus include Bioinformatics, Bio-Medical Engineering, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical (Spec. in Automotive Engineering), Mechanical (Spec. in Chemical Process Engg.), Mechanical (Spec. in Energy Engineering ).

The Programs offered at the Chennai campus are Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Applicant should be a Resident / Non Resident Indian National and should have been born on or after 1st July 1991.

He/she should have either completed or should be appearing in 2013, in any one of the following qualifying examinations:
(i)  Final examination of the 10+2 system of Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the State Board; Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE, New Delhi); The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE, New Delhi)
(ii) Intermediate or Two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University
(iii) High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
(iv) General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Srilanka) at the Advanced (A) level.

Applicant should have secured an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology in the qualifying examination(+2/Intermediate).Candidates belonging to SC/ST and Candidates hailing  from Jammu and Kashmir and the North Eastern states of Arunachal  Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya,  Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura need only 50% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology (PCM / PCB) in +2 (or its equivalent) put together. Only those who have studied in regular, full time and formal education are eligible to apply.

Those who have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are eligible for all the 13 B.Tech. Degree Programmes while those who have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology are eligible only for B.Tech. Bioinformatics, Bio-Medical Engineering and Biotechnology programmes.

Applications: Application can be submitted online at www.vit.ac.in/admissions/viteee2013/online.asp  as per the instruction given there. The Online application fee is Rs.900/- which may be paid through Net banking /Credit card/Debit card or by way of a DD drawn in favour of VIT University payable at Vellore. After the application is submitted online, the applicant should take a print out of the application. This has to be completed as instructed.

The completed printout and DD (if applicable) should be forwarded to ‘Director-UG Admissions, VIT University, Vellore, Tamil Nadu- 632014 to reach latest by the last date prescribed. More details on online application can be had from www.vit.ac.in/admissions/viteee2013/online.asp  Applications can be submitted offline also. Prospectus and Information Brochure, along with the necessary enclosures which include the  Application Form and a printed self- addressed envelope, can be obtained against cash payment of Rs. 950/- from the various post offices as given at www.vit.ac.in/admissions/viteee2013/avail_offline.asp.

Application can also be obtained in person from (i) VIT University, Vellore Campus(ii) VIT University, Chennai Campus(iii) Chennai Administrative Office, New No. 6, (Old No. W-73), Second Street (Opposite Towers Club), Anna Nagar, Chennai-600 040 (Phone:044-42016555, 65480555, Fax: 044-26222555), by handing over a Demand Draft for Rs.950/- drawn in favour of ‘VIT University’, payable at Vellore.

Applications can also be obtained through post by sending a Demand Draft for Rs.950/-drawn in favour of ‘VIT University’, payable at Vellore, with a covering letter addressed to ‘Director - UG Admissions,VIT University, Vellore-632014’, requesting for the application form and indicating their complete postal address. On receipt of the DD, the application form with the enclosures will be sent by post. Candidates should write their name, Mobile Number and address on the reverse of the DD.

The completed application form should be enclosed separately in the printed envelope provided, addressed to Director-UG Admissions, VIT University, Vellore-632014 and sent through Registered Post or Speed Post, so as to reach the Office of Admissions on or before 7th March 2013.

Once the application is received at VIT, a message will be sent through SMS to the candidates stating that their application has been received at VIT. So applicants should shade correctly, the mobile number in the application form.The candidates may also track the status of their application by typing their application number in the VIT website. However,this feature can be availed of only after about 3 weeks of despatch of their application.

Booking Slots for the Test : VIT Engineering Entrance Examination which will be Computer based, will be conducted from 15.04.2013 to 30.04.2013 at over 112 Test Cities.The number of examination days will be estimated based on the number of applications received for the particular group of courses and the test centre chosen by applicants in the application form. Applicants will get the facility to book the slots for the Test in the first week of March as per the Notification. Online Test booking system is a web based onlinescheduling system available at www.vit.ac.in.

Candidate should first choose the Test City, which should be the same as chosen in the applications form, and then the date and the batch for the exams. The schedule bookings are done on a first-come first served basis and are subject to the availability of the test centre date and time. More details on this will be available at www.vit.ac.in  in March 2013.

While booking the test schedule, applicant should have a photocopy of the application form submitted and the Online Test Booking Password. For both OMR and online applications, the password will be sent by email to the email address mentioned in the application form. Therefore it is mandatory to give correct email address. After logging into the Online Test Booking System, applicant should select the test he/she wishes to apply for (Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics or Physics/ Chemistry/ Biology) from the drop down menu to proceed further. A slot once booked cannot be changed. Request for change of test city, date or slot will not be entertained under any circumstances. In case of non-availability of slots in a test centre of choice, the candidate may choose to book a slot in an alternative centre/ date.

The online test booking system is available only for those eligible candidates who have submitted the application forms complete in all respects on or before the last date mentioned. It is the responsibility of the candidate to book their test schedule in Online Test Booking System within the given time frame. The confirmation mail will be automatically sent to the candidate’s email address after he/she has booked his/her schedule through the Online Test Booking System.

The e-Admit card will be generated once the candidate has booked his/her schedule through the Online Test Booking System.The e-Admit card will be auto generated for only those candidates who book a slot using the Online Test Booking system before the last date. It will indicate the e-Admit card number, photograph of the student, address of the test center, test date & time selected by the candidate.

Discrepancies, if any, must be brought to the notice of VIT university immediately. The e-Admit card will be made available for candidates on www.vit.ac.in.  Candidate should provide the application form number and Online Test Booking password to download the e-admit card.The copy of the e-Admit card will also be emailed to the candidate.


Examination: VIT Engineering Entrance Examination which will be Computer based, will be conducted from 15.04.2013 to 30.04.2013 at Test Cities given at www.vit.ac.in/admissions/viteee2013/test_cities.asp

In the Computer Based Test, the candidate sits in front of the computer and the questions are presented on the monitor. The candidate submits his or her answer through the use of mouse. The computer is connected to the server, which delivers the encrypted test in real time through a secure and reliable connection. Entrance test assumes that the candidate has the basic familiarity with the use of computer like use of keyboard, if required and mouse operation. In the rare and unlikely event of a technical failure during the test, the candidate may be required to attempt the test again.

The duration of VITEEE -2013, the Computer based Test (CBT) with objective type questions only, will be 2 hours 30 minutes. The test will have 3 parts, with Physics in Part I, Chemistry in Part-II and Mathematics / Biology in Part-III. Those attempting questions from Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics are eligible for all the 13 programmes offered. Those attempting questions from Physics, Chemistry & Biology are eligible for Bioinformatics, Bio-Medical Engineering and Biotechnology programmes only. The selection of pattern (Physics/ Chemistry /Mathematics or Biology) has to be decided at the time of slot booking. All the questions will be mostly from the State Board ofHigher Secondary Education and the CBSE syllabus only. The syllabus for the Entrance Examination is given in APPENDIX-IV of the Brochure and also at www.vit.ac.in/admissions/viteee2013/index.asp.

Each part has 40 questions and each question carries one mark.Each question is followed by 4 alternative answers. The candidate will have to choose the correct answer and click the same.Candidates can navigate freely through the questions back and forth.There are no negative marks for wrong answers.The Question paper will be only in English.

Results are expected by 6th May, 2013. At the time of publication of the results, the rank will be intimated through SMS. It will also be available in the website.

Admission will be purely on the basis of the marks secured in the VITEEE-2013, conducted by VIT University.The candidates short-listed based on their entrance examination marks and will be called for the counselling.
