Applications are invited for M.Phil (Computer
Science) Programme (under CCSS) in Kannur University Campus Kannur
Kerala-670567
Eligibility:
Master degree in Computer Science /Computer
Application / Information Technology of Kannur University or equivalent with
55% marks (or equivalent grade)
Relaxation will be given for SC/ST, OBC and teacher
candidates as per existing Kannur University norms applicable to M Phil course
M.Phil Computer Science is a one year (two
semesters) research degree to prepare post graduates in Computer Science /
Application / information Technology for pursuing research
Specialization: Image Processing, Digital speech
processing and; Natural Language Processing
Number of seats: 6
Reservation: As applicable to various courses of
studies in the University Teaching Departments
Selection:
Selection is based on the following: Criteria and
Weightage
Marks secured in the qualifying examination: 40%
Entrance examination: 60%
Entrance examination shall be objective type of 2
hours duration covering the following topics:
Data structures, Algorithms, Database Management
Systems, Operating systems, Computer Networks and network programming, Computer
Graphics, Multimedia, Discrete Mathematics, Software Engineering, Computer
Organization, Microprocessors, Automata theory, system programming and compiler
design, Graph theory and Artificial Intelligence 60 questions, 120 Marks
Research Aptitude (40 questions, 80 Marks)
Duration of
the programme:
Duration of the Programme is one academic year
divided into two semesters
The M Phil. Programme shall be completed within a
minimum of two and a maximum of four consecutive semesters
If a student does not pass a course within the
regular schedule, he/she shall reappear for the course examination along with
the subsequent batch
Credit Requirements:
The minimum credit requirement for the successful
completion of M Phil Computer Science Programme is 40
Attendance:
The minimum attendance required for the completion
of a semester is 75%
Those who secure the minimum attendance in a
semester alone will be allowed to register for the end semester exam
Condonation shall be granted by the Vice-Chancellor
subjected to the existing Kannur University norms applicable to M Phil/ PG
programmes
A student who is not eligible for condonation shall
repeat the course with the subsequent batch

Apply:
Application for admission to M Phil Computer
Science Programme 2013 -14 shall be downloaded from the Kannur University
website www.kannuruniversity.ac.in
Filled in application form and Hall ticket along
with the following documents shall be forwarded to;
The Head,
Department of Information Technology,
Kannur University, Mangattuparamba Campus,
Kannur -670567 on or before 27th July, 2013
Documents required:
Self attested copies of SSLC /X,
Degree consolidated Mark list and degree
certificate,
MCA/M Sc Final (Consolidated) Mark list &
Original/Provisional certificate
Self-attested copies of Cast / Community, Income,
Nativity and BPL certificates as applicable
For Community/BPL reservation
Demand Draft /Challan receipt (original) for Rs.
500/- (Rs 100/- for SC/ST)
Two self-addressed stamped envelope
The entrance examination is tentatively scheduled
on: 03rd August, 2013 at 10.00 a.m.
